Open to buying either console; lean towards PS4 to be honest, but online only completely shuts the door for me and the purposes I use a console for [when my internet goes out] since I'm mostly a PC gamer. Oh well, their loss.
Even more classy. Calling the folks at NeoGAF and Kotaku idiots.
Keep digging deeper.
This is the first time I've heard anyone wish that their vacuum cleaner would shut itself off if their internet connection went down.orthy said:I want every device to be "always-online"
Actively trying to fool the press. Why is he calling me an idiot for? I didn't do nothing
Well saw a Chinese Microsoft employee(he live in USA) aka investor of Tequila Works replied something about this...will translate it later(working now),or someone can translate it if you can
lol, now I must know what it says!
"我朋友和他..." part is:
"And my friend and his former colleague joked on twitter, but then kotaku and neogaf's fool take that as Microsoft's response. . so stupid"
"twitter和微博这些"part is:
"For twitter and weibo(chinese twitter like thing),a.you only can type 140 letters once,so you need make your tweet as short as you can,but consequences of that possible will be,grammar and discrepancy, will caught out buy some pople and exploit it. b. because your "identity",even you just joking to your friends, some fools will still indiscriminately label you.So the best way of solve the above problem will be:pretend yourself to other identity"
Sorry for bad translate especially latter part.
a)Twitter's cap of 140 characters is a limiting factor, and people need to be careful what words they cut out to fit the 140 cap, which could lead to people misunderstanding the point. b)He should have know that at his position, anything he writes, even if it's a joke, could be misinterpreted. Should have went with a pseudonym instead.
This is the first time I've heard anyone wish that their vacuum cleaner would shut itself off if their internet connection went down.
Looking forward to the Durango demo at E3 crashing due to Internet disconnection.
Even if you have a rock solid connection that won't matter when Microsoft goes full SimCity/Diablo 3 on launch day.
I don't get it... Could someone explain the punch line?
This is the first time I've heard anyone wish that their vacuum cleaner would shut itself off if their internet connection went down.
IT's too bad this guy's probably gonna lose his job over this. Yeah, he's acting like a jerk, and yeah, he's not making a strong case for the product itself. But still, I kinda see what he was going for.
With that said, the HELL with online only. That's what I say.
How his tweets, which are clearly tongue in cheek, is getting every one worked up.

Me: Durango, my internet is a little spotty. How about a single player game today?
Xbox 720: I'm sorry, I can't do that J. I mean really, I can't. Next-gen policies.
How his tweets, which are clearly tongue in cheek, is getting every one worked up.
I don't think you can say that at all. We can't tell how this will affect everyone that buys the Xbox.
Couldn't if he tried. Account now locked.could you link us to the parts that were tongue in cheek please
So this is how stupid one looks when you're blindly loyal to a company. It's a gaming console FFS. What's the point if you can't play games on it unless you're online?
I really cannot see an always-online console prospering, at all. Is there any TV, blu-ray player, tablet, or other consumer electronics device that is always online? If so, is it doing well?
It has nothing to do with loyalty. This is how I have been using the technology for the past generation. The absolute only thing I ever do on my Xbox when not signed into Xbox Live is watch DVDs. The device is a fucking brick without Xbox Live as far as I'm concerned. That isn't Microsoft who says that. That's how I feel about it.
An Xbox 360 without Xbox Live Gold is a steaming pile of shit. Why would I ever use my Xbox when the Internet is down. Everything I do on an Xbox including saving and syncing my consoles together requires being online. That's Xbox 360 I'm talking about, not Durango.
That's fine if you disagree, but that's how I've been living for 7 years now. I would never play my Xbox 360 offline so this decision would have nothing but positive benefits for me. It means no longer building games like it is 2004 anymore, it means building single player campaigns that involve sharing and communicating with other people.

i still cant believe it, this just wouldnt make any sense. theres way too many parts of the world that have terrible internet connections.

Twitter: Not always online.
I get your point, but to be fair, this is about the software itself and not so much the hardware. So if dvd and blu-ray players suddenly had to be online before you could pop in a film, then it'd be just as bad.
Also, TV's need channels...
Internet, especially WiFi, is a lot more iffy than cable. I'm not sure what you mean about your second sentence in this post, that was sort of my point, I was just wondering if any existed already.
I agree with you and I understand your point. But to be fair, this is about the software itself and not so much the hardware. If dvd and blu-ray players suddenly had to be online before you could pop in a film, then it'd be the same case.

Twitter just got Durango'd.
Man, I go away for a few hours and shit gets crazy.
The guy probably wishes he could be offline now.

The idea of an always on console where your access to the games you buy is held hostage by MS's servers is not something I'd consider for a second. That'd be like renting all your games and losing all of them the day the servers go down for good
Also reaching >5000 up votes and >3000 comments in a matter of hours is quite impressive. Can't wait to see how MS responds to all of this
