i got suckered by Gamestop and their $40 product replacement plan where i just come in and exchange the unit if it ever craps out within the year. The MS one will leave me console-less while its being repaired...but at least coverage lasts longer.

too bad the waranty has to be mailed within 10 days, i woulda let the Gamestop one expire then sign up for the MS one right away.

The 40 seems to be worth it. We have no real idea how these things will perform months down the road and it any kind of common defect will pop up.

Early adopters for any new tech gadget would be wise to get a warranty ad in my experience with Sony and Apple have tought me, first versions of hardware are more likely to have problems than successive versions will.

And who wants to wait for a class action suit to take effect? The 40 dollars is ultimately easier...
