Midway confirms Mortal Kombat: Deception Gamecube exclusive feature.

how late is this game? 6 months? I predict a bomb for Midway. Then they'll blame the gamecube.

Winners all around. (they should have done a CAPCOM and announced the 2 extra characters when they released the PS2+XBOX versions - that way, we'll have to read all about how some folks will wait for this release)

didnt they say it would be totally awesome? i remember an interview a few months ago and someone was really hyping it.

this is NOT totally awesome.

honestly though, this is better than what i was thinking it would be though. I'd expected some sort of retarded "new" character that is either some generic guy or a combination of other people, but hell I'll take these two. Hopefully it won't be $50 when it's released, but it wouldnt surprise me.

So, two extra playable characters makes up for a six month delay and the removal of all online functions?

Yeah.... sure, Midway.

Awesome. I fully intend to pick up the GC version. I have always loved the series and the inclusion of Kahn and Goro makes this a much buy, and you can only play them on the Gamecube version.

It's better than nothing for those who only have a GCN are MK fans for whatever reason.

Goro/Shao Khan as playable characters is actually more than I was expecting.

I think I'd take the game's incredibly well-done online play over two extra "boss" characters, but I guess maybe that's just me. But it isn't just Midway that deserves hate for the lack of GC online play. Splinter Cell 3 and NBA Street Volume 3 will also be released sans online functions for the GC as well. The system HAS a broadband adaptor. Make use of it, someone, ANYONE, PLEASE. :P

The boss characters are usually crap anyway.
I'll eat my hat if they are well rounded and have as many moves as the regular fighters

You probably wont be impale to use traps on those bonus characters.
Oh, if they can't be fatalitied or don't have fatalities, they're useless. Two boring overpowered characters with a brief and pointless ending.

Why don't they just unlock the people in Konquest mode that you can fight but not be? Wouldn't that just be easier?

Two extra characters (particularly since they aren't some bs generics) are definitely a cool addition.

But it's too little WAY too late.

Shao Kahn and Goro are horribly unbalanced in any case to begin with. Couldn't they just unlock Onaga and call it a day?

I probably would buy the GC version if they simply made the characters that were in Deadly Alliance but not in Deception playable. I bet it wouldn't even be that hard for them to do since they're in the Konquest mode anyway. :\

I just hope they have actual movesets, and can perform and receive fatalities. That to me was the biggest joke about them being playable in MK: Trilogy.

I hear GameCube owners love waiting an extra 1/2 year for their games. I also hear there's no point in adding online features to GC games because their owners would never buy a BBA out of sheer respect for Iwata who insists that online gaming is a fad.

Ok, it's been all day. Where's Anyanka?
Time for that eye appointment Mejilan. About a dozen posts up.

And not like he's not going to get it. He got all three versions of Midway Arcade Classics 2 even though they're is absolutely no different between the bunch, just to say he has the komplete kollection. Krazy Kid.

He doesn't have the complete collection unless he got the special limited whatever edition of Mortal Kombat: Deception as well. Though I suspect that given the fact the he bought all 4 versions of Arcade Treasres 2 then he must have gotten that as well.

Actually, yeah I think he did. He owns all GBA Mortal Kombats for the love of god, even the horrible MK Advanced. Mythologies AND Special Forces. This man is insane.

10 points for dedication to his MK collecting craft, minus several million for good taste.

Sounds like RE4.

The bosses had fatalities in the N64 version of MKT. They sucked though. And Goro can do fatalities with one button codes on in the home versions of MK4. They're stolen from other characters, but it's something...

I don't have the COMPLETE collection. I am missing a few. I need MK3 for Gamegear, MK1 for Master System, MK II for Amiga, the MK/MK II compilation for PC and regular MK3 arcade. I'm slowly getting there. It's just a matter of finding them.

But yeah, I will get this the day it comes out. The extras could have been a simple team battle mode and I'd have got it. They could have added no extras at all and I'd have still got it. I'm actually down on MK right now though. The gameplay in MKD just really sucks. Playing online for a while really exposed how broken it is. Plus with Tekken 5 out I've been playing that 5 days a week and it really makes MKD look shameful. It's turned me off to the whole franchise for now. I'll still get the GC port, just for collections sake, but I'm not excited at all.

Right now, MKD iz the best fighting game i've played in years. I for one am a little sick of the ppk-combo games out there, so it's quite refreshing to not hav to memorize every friggin' character's gigantic move list.

Anyanka, just stop playing MK.

Way to keep up with current events, sport. He's only come out and said times too numerous to count that Nintendo will go online when they can do it easily, nigh at no cost to either their customers or to the company, and when/if they can make it as easy as possible for their end users.

Also: Hints being dropped left and right that Square may be doing some PlayOnline stuff with the DS.

That's not going to happen.

And the game being simple isn't the problem. The 2D games are simple and I love them. DA and D are just too poorly designed and missing too many BASIC features in 3D fighting. The characters have 3 stances and a ton of moves, yet will only have like 1 or 2 safe low moves all together. The long, damaging chain combos are unescapable. Every character has only one standard throw and they're unescapable. There's basically no sidestep game because everything tracks. There's no wake up options at all in the game. It's not just simple, it's lower than stuff like Toshinden, VF1 and Tekken 1. But again, the 2D games were not deep so maybe MKD would be ok if it was designed well. But it isn't. How fun is it when every other character has an easy to abuse infinite? How many times can you see a Bo player do f+3 and throws all day before you lose interest?

MKD's gameplay is ok when you're fighting the CPU or your friends(if they play just for fun) but when you play someone who is really trying to win it gets obnoxious fast.
