I think it's cause it's not available in the country your NNID is set to. It's the same as what happened to me when the game was only released in Japan.

If your NNID is set to Canada then it should work fine. Mine is set there, and it worked when I tried it earlier. Are you sure you have the latest version of the app (v1.1.1)?

Getting Miitomo later today, questions:
1. Can I simply copy over my Mii from either my Wii U or 3DS as long as it's not copy protected or do I have to make it from scratch?
2. What is the biggest mistake people are making with coins or easiest coins to miss getting? When can I start using my coins on MyNintendo in the U.S.?
(sorry for having to ask on these, currently not able to read through most of the thread)

1 - Yes, as long as it's not protected you can import your Mii no problem
2 - The easiest to miss are the ones you get from other people, you can't really do much about that. And you can start using them the moment you've gotten them in the game. Like immediately.

I don't use Facebook or Twitter and most of my gaming friends don't live near me, geographically, so this app is a complete non-starter for me right out of the gate.

Anyway, I actually did it. Went and got my new phone a month earlier just to give this app a shot. Well that and my old phone started to crash and burn on launch since two days ago. It's all timely!
So I've followed everyone following my twitter and whoever was on that list in the OP's post. Does that automatically make them all ingame friends or is there another step before people start barging into my virtual home?
