Even if this hadn't been a stunt and he had stayed for the entire game, why are American tax dollars being spent on plane rides for the VP to attend a sporting event? Not even like the Olympics or the Superbowl; a mid-season NFL game between a middling team and an awful team. Why is that an appropriate use of taxpayer money? I was happy he went to be VP because we can get someone who gives a shit in our statehouse instead of a purely political monster, but then this happened.

Though that last part of the statement notes that he had planned to attend the ceremony for Peyton weeks in advance? I'm not defending his "protest" by any stretch, but it makes it seem like he had planned to be in Indy all along at least.
