I visited a friend today that has a stressful job in a "YDU" or Younger Disabled Unit.

Most of the youths in this particular unit are 16-24, and have been paralysed by accidents or sudden illness and the unit is aimed at rehabilitation, as most of these will never live the kind of lives they were expecting to and as you can guess are in rather differing states of depression and acceptance.

One lad I met was a 19 year old Army recruit that had a tank roll on him whilst he was "up top" - leaving him paralysed from the neck down, his only link to the outside world was his PC, which he controlled with a mouth-control device. 'Talking' to him I found him to be one of the more accepting of his condition, he'd been at the unit a lot longer than most and his bitterness was reserved for the army. (Who pretty much shat on him from great heights *after* the accident)

One way he told me he dealt with his situation was the net, it allowed him "freedom" and some kind of social life, even though he admitted with a cheeky smile of his eyes that 100% of that interaction was some of the most bile-filled trolling Usenet had ever seen, and making people "jump" to his "command" amused him, and absolutely nothing thrown back his way by way of insult could compare to the situation he was already in, so fuck 'em :lol - He also told me that others there did similar as a way of venting their frustration.

So, next time you get trolled, before you throw back that retort, consider the possibility... You just never know.

And Faisal, if you read this, Keep up the spirits man, you rock and best of luck.

I now have to go apologize to the guy who claimed Steely Dan was basically the greatest band in the 1970s.

Pardon me, please.

That thought had crossed my mind too :lol

I almost gave him bookmarks to GAF and OA for shits & giggles, but I'd had to have stuck my hand in his mouth to do so to waggle the mouthstick, so thought better of it. ;)

There are several people right here who would be a good candiate for that Army recruit.
