Mistwalker/Hironobu Sakaguchi's Terra Battle |OT| Season 2 has been unleashed!

I'm not sure if it's equal, but one thing for sure is that higher ranked characters level up slowly. I have an SS, and S, two Bs, and two Ds. They started out as level 10, 10, 1, 1, 1, 1 in that order. now they are level 15, 17, 19, 19, 20, 20 in that order.

yeah i noticed that as well with R'zon. he was taking a while to lvl up compared to my B ranked

Is this the type of game where I should keep rerolling until I get something good (like PAD)?

You can, yes. The highest rank you can get is an SS. If you use the pre-download code (search "code" on previous pages until you find it) you can get 2 rolls after the tutorial instead of 1. People have said they've beaten all the way through the end of the story without any SS characters though, so it's up to you how much you want to re-roll.

Oh cool, a thread for this.

My first roll was Eileen the Songstress (A rank mage) and my freebie was Jennish the Thunderous (SS mage). Jennish combos are devastating. Still not sure how things work yet, though.

Posted this about 12 hours ago, I'll repost it now for the other half of the world.

For those who still don't have the game in their Google Play store -

  • Go here and download the .apk and the .obb.
  • You'll need an apk installer for your phone. I use one that's, neatly enough, called 'APK Installer'. Search the Play Store and install the program.
  • Connect your phone to your PC.
  • Transfer the .apk to a 'holding' folder on your phone (I dumped it in <Download>).
  • Go to Android/Obb and create a new folder called 'com.mistwalker.guardians'. Transfer the obb. file into this. (If you intend to install the game on an SD card instead of main memory, I think you use the folder SD/Android/Obb..? Don't know. I don't have an SD card on my phone, so not sure how it presents itself.
  • Open your APK Installer, navigate to wherever you're holding the apk. and install.

This worked for me in Sweden (unavailable) and I've been happily playing since launch day.

Two things to note:
  1. I'm not sure what will happen when the game has a version update, but I'm assuming it'll either be a case of finding just the new .apk and reinstalling, or perhaps you'll need the obb. also. Shouldn't be a problem though, I go through a similar process updating my Puzzle&Dragons. Been playing that for a year through at least half a dozen version updates (though doesn't have all the .obb crap). Don't hold me to any of this though.
  2. Once the game is officially released in your Google Play Store, I think you should be fine to install the game officially (important for the 2mil users goal!) and do a Data Transfer (in-game options) to carry your progress over. Again, I'm as unfamiliar with the process as you are, so try not to hate me if it turns out that things aren't this simple.

4 energy.

fighting the urge to buy another one...

in hindsight wasting 1 energy to fill up stamina 1st day has come back to bite me in the ass

Do you hear that GAF? That distant, plaintive song? I believe that may possibly be the hungry cry of a newborn whale. Let's watch and wait and see...

:P

I finished Ch 4 and got the first alternate job. Now that I realized you have to level up each job (makes sense) I kind of wish I stuck with my lower rarity team. The SS takes forever to level.

Yea but dependng on which one it is, it can be totally worth ex ss mages.

How would Jennish and Amimari rank in the SS Mage usefulness? Got both, but I cant run around with 4 mages (Basically all my draws are mages).

Jen is top tier. Ami is a healer (job1/3)/melee dpser (job 2). She can be nice to have around, but it takes a bit to get her there. Ami isnt as great just because we get the B healer from the get go right now. If they werent doing that she would be even better.

Maybe I should get him from my reserves then :p I had another A mage which was easier to level and made more damage for now.

No story spoilers, but does anyone know how many chapters there are? Does it leave room open for further chapters down the road?

So long as you have one maybe two mages you will be fine. Even some A mages are nice ex A'merpact.

Yea, thats the guy. He is pretty neat, so I exchanged him, but SS will probably overtake the A ones eventually, so why the fuck not. Not in a hurry anyway.

I rerolled all weekend (it must've been more than 30 times) and finally got an SS. Is Lewto good? I don't think I'll reroll anymore, but I am curious. Whenever I play these games and keep rerolling (like PAD), the constant failure to get something decent reminds me to never spend a dime on these things. The RNG is too great.

I got this SS mage named Bonna and so far she seems like shit. All she does is cure petrify, but I've never encountered a single petrifying enemy, and her damage is total garbage. So she's literally useless.

im sure she will be useful in a specific chapter against a specific monster. but that would be kinda silly to base a character against a one time ordeal.

what are her 2nd and 3rd job skills like?

EDIT: saw her skills. damn she's pure status effect skills :/ and all her good status effect skills dont come till lv 35+ ouch she's the definition of late game powerhouse.

if you have the patience to lvl her to 65 on 1st job and 35 in 2nd job, she can completely shutdown the field.

Her skills are:

Petrify, Pincer Area, 30% [Unlocked at Lv. 15, Executes in 20 turns, Turn the target to stone.]
Petrification Ward, Equip [Unlocked at Lv. 35, Confer immunity to petrification]
Petrify, Area (2), 100% [Unlocked at Lv. 65, Executes in 20 turns. Turns the target to stone]

Not sure what the "Executes in 20 turns" means, but if it means you can't use it for 20 turns, then that's also pretty useless.

Lewto is great. Hes a good start point. Also this game is alot more generous with the premium currency. You get 5 energy every 8 days, and if you login every day for 10 days you get enough for another 3 summons (one time deal). A lot beter than other games like BF,

To me the the costs and way the game plays, it seems kind of silly to spend anymore than maybe $10 max, and I only even mention that as Im all for showing the developer love for a good game.

Why do some of these attacks chain across the tiles horizontally/vertically?

edit: Like sometimes I do attacks other parallel tiles chain and add attacks, and sometimes they don't. I want to know what triggers them manually?

Many skills have a % chance to go off and are not a sure bet, so thats why you dont always see them.

I think "Executes in x turns" means that's how long the effect lasts. I had one sleep AoE mage before I rerolled and now I have a paralyze one and they both said "executes in 3 turns", and I think when the effect takes place they each lasted 3 turns.

The 100% is how often it activates but I get "Miss" a lot.

Got a cool looking A ranked bow guy for my second "proper" recruit, thankfully I can finally replace that knight from the tutorial. The character designs in this feel like something of a (positive) departure from comparable games.

Except I have Samatha, and idg why her first skill is a magic boost.
Some characters are both physical and elemental. I don't think her magic attack boost will be useful until you unlock her level 15 skill, a lightning attack. So when you attack with her, she'll do physical spear damage first (guaranteed). If her lightning skill also triggers, you'll use your magic stat to determine damage. That's where the magic buff is useful. I have a Zenzoze on my team (spear/dark) and he has a dark magic skill at level 1 and a magic boost buff at 15. Samatha's skills seem like they should be swapped around like his.

So a pincer attack occurs when two units are sandwiching an enemy or locking them in one of the corners of the screen. The units that are part of the pincer will chain to any power-up or other teammate that has an unblocked line of sight. They don't need to be beside each other but you can't have an enemy in the way.

edit: Maybe a crappy diagram would work better.
HXd36SH.png

The chaining only originates from the ones initiating the attack. If the pincer is formed by the two red squares, then you just look in each direction from those two units. In this case, it would chain to 3 more units, but the blue outlined unit will not chain because an enemy is in the way. In the actual video, that unit joins the attack because they managed to kill the enemy that was in the way.

been playign this on and off (current BF event is keeping me on it for f2p games).

love how the gameplay works, I do hope i get some units that can push folks.

what times does metal zone open or is it random?

I got him from the start and he's pretty strong

So I decided to pass on my Ch 20 progress from soft-launch and try my luck with rerolling since we got dual energy with code.

After about an hour, got twin SS (Piz'fer and Gugba). Crazy.
Bought 30 energy, and got myself a full team of every weapon class. (some A and S)

I'mma restart from scratch since my old game had too many duplicates from all the free energy, and wasn't overall happy with my crew. (although the SS healer was awesome)

Ohh okay, I see. That makes sense.

OHHH!!! Line of sight!! Now that makes a lot more sense

Yeeeeeesh, the 14-4 boss fight was amazingly difficult and fun.
The tempo of fast-slow-fast was exhilarating.

Just like Puzzles and Dragons sucked me in for months, this new hotness will as well.

Ever since Lost Odyssey, i'm down for anything mistwalker does. Sequel please.
