Just got around to watching this Chael interview where he walked out, what a clusterfuck LOL.

Chael gets rattled way too easily when an interviewer tries to be serious and ask him serious questions, and the interviewer himself got rattled too making for some awkward shit. He's like "oh shit, the interviewer isn't playing along with my troll persona what do I do now."

I don't think it was a work, it was a work in that is his character, yeah. But he was obviously rattled when he started trying to answer the questions seriously talking about the Silva fight. And the interviewer was rattled at first too, which made it double awkward.

His problem is, he can't cash the checks his mouth is writing when he gets called out for it, and has no contingency plan in his persona for such a thing, and its starting to backfire on him. His answer to his ultimatum after the Stann fight is "when did you hear that? I never said it" or "the offer expired on that, Silva is the chicken he just sit there." Go beyond calling him out for that and not playing along he obviously gets frazzled and doesn't know what to do. Now he's getting involved in talking shit about ring girl, eventually he's going to say something out of line that is going to get him in trouble and he really won't know what to do.

It's a pretty major problem when he's trying to talk shit now, which built his first fight, and now can't go beyond an 8 year old's skills at trolling and saying "nuh uh no u" and "nuh uh I really won u lost." Dude needs to go to the Lesnar school of shit talking.

UFC 144 card is unreal. Would be sweet if they did it pride style as far as presentation... or at least get the crazy announcer lady for the fighter walk-ins.

He is one of the most entertaining guys to watch outside of the ocatagon next to Nick Diaz. Throughout all of his ramblings he says alot of funny shit. It hypes fights and gets attention. I would much rather watch him troll Brazil then see GSP say he respects his opponents skill. It mixes things up some and makes it interesting.

And he backs up his mouth in the ring.

Small orgs like the MFC don't pay enough to lock talent down like that. Those smaller guys need to fight as often as possible to pay the bills.

was chael ANYTHING like this in the WEC? i realize that the WEC guys then didnt get much mic time, but i don't remember a single outrageous thing from him till the UFC...

Yet their owner always goes on a tirade when one of their champions leaves, haha. There will probably be another one after this move. I can see why he put MFC up for sale. A regional promotion who can't maintain a champion isn't very compelling. Even to me, a proponent of bad MMA.

Well now he tries to be funny and do bits, so some of it isnt. Its hacky and fake. But every now and then when hes just talking off the cuff he says hilarious shit, funnier than any other MMA fighter has been.

I don't think he was. I remember him being the good guy in the Filho fights, even with the submission controversy, I thought he was professional.

i disagree. for a novice or casual core fan my OP has all the essential information: ufc theme song, dana white, list of ufc champs, upcoming fight cards, p4p rankings, list of mma legends, and the beautiful chandella. do you really want to turn on new fans onto bullshit like KSW, Bellator, Dream, ProElite, Titan Fights, Shark Fights, OneFC, and M1-Global?

and by the time this thread closes the OP will look prophetic.

Im sorry yaco...in 2012 there will be 18 whole Saturdays without UFC. Bad MMA will be there to fill the void.

Fridays? Bad MMA.

Sundays? Bad foreign MMA.

I'll never stop fighting the bad fight. You WILL watch Pro Elite 3 headlined by Kendall Grove. You WILL watch KSW: WSM vs. The Colossus III. You WILL watch BAMMA: (local can crusher) vs. (nondescript UFC reject). AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP IT!

Extreme Challenge? 200 shows deep. King of the Cage? Estimated in the thousands. BAD MMA NEVER DIE.

If I were making a thread about introducing Americans to soccer, I wouldn't start by telling them about the Polish Ekstraklasa, Japanese J-League or Australian A-League. Nor would I extol the virtues of the highest scorers in the Chilean Primera División or the legendary players of the Welsh Premier League. Hell no. I'd tell them to watch Barcelona vs. Real Madrid, Manchester United vs. Chelsea or Rangers vs. Celtic. I'd tell them check out players like Messi, Ronaldo, and Rooney whilst telling them history of players like Pele, Maradona, Cruyff and Zidane.

After that, it's up to them. If they are truly interested in the sport then they will want more of it. If this means they watch soccer games whenever they can, from whatever country or whatever level (even down to going to Sunday League games at their local park) then the thread has been successful.

Yaco basically made a thread like this in a style suited to the inherently abrasive nature of MMA. It's far better than the alternative of promoting the UFC as some sort of "primus inter pares" organisation and leading newcomers into thinking that next weekend's Extreme Midwest Combat League is a good representation of the sport.

Ticket prices seem to be dropping. I'm waiting for the right tickets. Seems like I can get upper bowl, row 1-6 for around $150 each. I'm secretly hoping I land tickets in the Dana giveaway again. Just going to bum around downtown next week.

Well it's too bad yaco doesn't even explain what the sport is in the OP. That is what I mean by useful.

I've never even heard of Ion TV and apparently there are UFC 140 prelims on the channel.
