MMORPG Halloween events 2005

Back before the big onslaught of MMORPGs, they used to do AWESOME Halloween events in EQ where they had massive undead invasions in zones and other cool things.

WoW added their Halloween event with 1.8:
Hallow's End
When the decorations of Hallow's End light up Azeroth's cities, you know there's mischief afoot! Seek special vendors in Orgrimmar or Ironforge and get your hands on treats! Aid a sick orphan in a little trick-or-treating! Deathcaller Yanka, attending the Forsaken's Wickerman Festival, and Sergeant Hartman of Southshore are seeking your aid in keeping the enemy out of their holiday affairs -- are you up to the challenge?

EQII has theirs coming in update 15:

Jeepers creepers! Mystery and mischief are afoot as the holiday approaches! Coming soon in Live Update #15, several strange happenings will come to light! Pumpkin patches have sprouted up throughout Qeynos and Freeport. Use them to decorate your neighborhood! Black cats wander the cities. Don't let them cross your path!

Another crew of Gigglegibber goblins can be found in Freeport and Qeynos. They'll send you on a trick-or-treat game that you can play with local residents. Watch out for those tricks!

There are rumors of a haunted house in each city. Talk to the Gigglegibber Scalper in North Qeynos or West Freeport to find out more. Players of all levels can get in on the fun!

Ponchy Shorttoe of Windstalker Village in Antonica needs help with a baffling and mysterious problem. It seems the scarecrows have gotten riled up!

What would Halloween be without masks? Disguise yourself as a creepy critter or as your favorite monarch!

These are the sort of things that make MMORPGs so much fun :D

Asheron's Call Doesn't Get Dressed Up for Nothing

Yeah, I stole that quotation from Braveheart. Turbine Entertainment's Asheron's Call, which you may recognize as an MMORPG outliving its own sequel when AC2 closes in December, is gearing up for Halloween with two new spooky scenarios. First off, Glenden Wood has been the site of several new kinds of ghosts showing up. This place was already flocking with undead monsters, but these new ones are different. One in particular lets out a shrill battle cry before attacking its prey...which reminds me of Shadow Madness. Yeah...Shadow Madness....

It seems every time something horrible happens, we arrange parties to pretend it never happened, or at least reflect on how much stuff didn't suck before it did. So, in contrast to the above hauntings comes a festival in Glenden Wood. Apparently this festival involves a puzzle to solve in the local pumpkin patch. Meanwhile, Town Criers have been selecting such elaborate costumes that players will not be able to recognize them when coming into town. Just the same, it's best to talk to them, because they might have useful information. Rumors are also circulating around the community and among NPCs that one of Dareth's more famous personalities might just grace citizens with his presence during the festival.
Spotted at Heath's MMORPGamer column.

They ripped that off from Ultima Online btw. :D UO poineered the holiday events, along with most everything else in the mmog genre.

...because UO was the first real graphical MMO outside of MUDs. Duh. And UO just released another expansion as well (it's download only).

DAOC IS GONNA HAVE A PUMPKIN MOON AGAIN !!!.....and thats it, barely see it, barely notice it, and doesnt fucking do anything...

What the hell? Same items for the last 4 years...

Thank God I quit.

Added a pitchfork, also unless you were playing with the JP release, it's only been 2 years (3 Halloweens) =P

I actually missed it last year, so I'm rather interested, but I'm more concerned with Ballista Royale since I'm participating. And honestly, complaining about the events, especially conidering FFXI caters to both Japanese and American holidays, there's a lot of events to go around, and some this year have been new entirely. I never got to do the Running of the Bulls one (European I know), since I didn't need an item of that sort (bandana that adds +enmity), but it was pretty neat from the small bit I experienced. The swimsuit thing was neat as well.

While PSO is an MORPG it still kinda counts. It's Halloween event has been going on since earlier this week. Pioneer Halloween has returned! Search Gal Da Val island for the Naura Sisters who'll make cakes for the children of Pioneer 2 for Halloween. Trade cakes with teammates to collect all eight and then give them to the Rappys for a Pumpkin item which opens up into a Mag Cell to evolve your Mags into the rare styles.

I love the PSO Halloween music. I walked passed my little bros room the other night and heard him playing it online and started doing a little dance to the beat. :|
