MMORPG Rant Video

Arsic

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
So the Ashes of Creation news has been making its rounds here and elsewhere online, but this video from Josh caught my eye today.

He begins discussing ashes lightly but goes on to discuss MMOs, players being stupid, gacha games and a little more.

It's a good watch and he drops a few gems of knowledge I agree with. Worth a watch unless you prefer your video game YTers to instead discuss rage bait politics from a roach infested moms attic.

Agree big time with his take on negativity ( as can be seen in the other thread with a certain other game... ).
It's the same song an dance and it comes in waves with every MMO, holy crap now that I think about it I think I was like 10-11 when WoW came out and I started playing it.
I've played MMO's ever since and it has always been the same.
Some people seem to get off on games '' dying '' and it's like they actively want it to happen for whatever reason the discourse never changes.

On the other hand people always try and hype up the new thing way too much hence the whole '' WoW killer '' narrative, which again plays into this negativity thing where for another game to be successful then WoW has to die ( or some other game ) as if they can't both exist and be successful at the same time.
It's just a larger phenomenon I notice where people always have to have someone or something to throw under the bus, you can't uplift people who are chubby you also at the same time have to tear down people who are skinny.
It's a weird mentality but feels like the norm.

Marketing everything as a '' return to the old '' is a bit of a futile effort too imo especially if you're doing it in relation to WoW considering that WoW already has Classic and keeps re-releasing old expansions.
So why get invested in a new thing that is also meant to be '' old '' when you can just play that?
Ashes did at least have the world building gimmick at the same time I don't think that was nearly enough of a new thing to hook a lot of people.
Better focus on what you're doing that is actually new and exciting rather than what you're doing the same as what was done before.
