"Moderate" Iran President-elect Rowhani tied to Iranian jihad bombing of Jewish community center in Argentina that murdered 85

Hasan Rowhani, the president-elect of Iran, was part of a special government task force that plotted in 1994 to bomb a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, a terrorist attack that ultimately left 85 dead and hundreds wounded.

The Washington Free Beacon first reported the connection on Thursday.

Argentine authorities say the Iranian government plotted the bombing while members of Hezbollah actually carried it out. Interpol still maintains a list of ‘most wanted’ Iranians believed to be tied to the attack, Ynet News reported.

A former Iranian intelligence officer who defected in the 1990s said the attack was the brainchild of a special committee tied to the Supreme National Security Council. Mr. Rowhani served as secretary of that council and as a member of the special committee during the formation of the bomb plot, Ynet said....

You know how it is. Sometimes you forget to walk your dog, sometimes you don't eat enough heart healthy fats, sometimes you contribute to the cold blooded murder of 85 Jewish civilians. Nobody's perfect.

Hoping this story isn't true. Iran needs sane leadership.

The guy is a sheikh that was hand-picked to be allowed to run by the Supreme Leader. At least the people voted for the most moderate of the ones they were allowed to vote for in their kangaroo democracy.

Quippy, but untrue by any measure.

A small council of elites decides who gets to run for office, and we have to choose between the lesser of two evils. In order to stay in office, the President needs to constantly show loyalty and deference to said council.

Sounds close enough.

There is literally one religious leader in Iran who decides who is allowed to run for office. Also, you don't know what a political primary is.

Stop, please.

Yeah it was said that some of the other front-runner candidates may have also had a role in that bombing, doesn't seem like there's evidence to say for sure. I don't really see how it makes a difference though since the role of the president in Iran is totally symbolic, his job is not to make decisions on what Irans attitude towards Jews will be.

I doubt they would be allowed to run for president if there was enough proof for most of the international community to believe that the current president of Iran organized it.

So they have one guy who decides, and we have a few hundred. In the end, we're still forced to choose between the lesser of two evils selected for us.

It will be the same as it was with Obama. Expecting changes of USA politics with Obama? Nope. Same with Iran.
