"Modernized" trailer for Big Trouble In Little China

I'll be honest, I expect it to be a 5 seconds joke video about how you'd have to cut most of the movie to make it suitable for "modern audiences"

One of the best movies ever made.

To think that Carpenter made this and the Thing. Movies with such different tones and direction styles.

80's John Carpenter could do no wrong.

Love that movie so much. That was a great cut trailer, but just like 'modern' trailers it shows a bit too much if you haven't seen the movie. So I guess mission accomplished in the end.

Gonna rewatch this later tonight.

You're right that those are two very different movies, but that's not even the strongest example of his range. Big Trouble in Little China and The Thing are much closer in tone and style than either of those two movies and Starman. A very good and very different John Carpenter movie. But yeah, he made a lot of good movies.

I prefer the movie with the vaguely similar title, showdown in little tokyo with dolph and brandon lee.

Always found little china way too goofy for my taste.

Really expected an atmospheric minor-key remake of an upbeat 80s song playing throughout. "Cherry Bomb" would've worked well for that!

Other than that, it's modernized quite well!

Just watched it again a couple of months ago with my kids and they loved it. I still like Escape from New York and the The Thing more but Big Trouble is pretty great.

If you want the most 80's movie ever:

Her apartment alone covers nearly every 80's reference.

For good measure:

Interesting factoid, the legendary James Hong is in both Ninja 3 and BTiLC. (He was of course robbed of his Oscar for his portrayal of the iconic Lo Pan. )

I was genuinely thinking modernized meant woke for "modern audienes" but so glad it wasn't that, what an amazing trailer for an amazing movie.
