And...

Even the most jaded Nintendo fan has to realize that the DS isn't doing so hot. With scores of machines left to collect dust in retail stores and other units traded in for a PSP, it's looking bleak for Mario's handheld, despite what the shipping numbers say.

Its all about the text! 5 star rating with no half stars was the broadest mo figured they could make scores to placate the masses. Thumbs up/down just doesn't cut it

Edit: And Demi, its not about Mo. Its about the Plankton. Mo puts up plenty of reviews I never bothered linking to, because they weren't relevent to GAF taste.

I dunno. I don't make those kinds of decisions

I do know that ElectroPlankton was reviewed b/c we all agreed that it needed more attention than it was getting, "true" videogame or not. Everyone just wanted to give the game top-story billing again, so a review was written.

I *believe* that mo is eventually going to be a true mobile site, and not just focus on games. IE MP3 players and PDAs and whatnot. If that comes to pass then I'd assume other software apps for DS would be held to those standards, and not game standards. I might be wrong about the plans, though.

Since its the first thing that made me pick up my DS in literally a month I'd score it high too.

I agree, I was joking about how new the site is anyway. I went there once. I like the "I'm right you're wrong" rant or whatever it was.

That's hardly a review. The whole middle of the article is game guide text. There's also plenty of analysis of the DS's position in the market and user dissatisfaction with the catalog.

What I didn't read is anything that effectively argued that Electroplankton is good (or "silky smooth" as he put's it).

Then the review ends like a Nintendo press release, even though the writer warned us that he wasn't going to emulate a fanboy.

Pretty shoddy writing if you ask me.

I'd erase everything but the score and start over.

Modojo (and amazon) are paying to keep you all bitching I kid, I kid. Its just no big thing for me, since I'm a member of both Mo and GAF. For a GAFFER I understand how ads are undesirable.

I own EP, and I dont think it's worth 4/5 at all. The modes are way too limited to be enjoyable for more than 1 hour.

Speaking of this, Electroplankton just arrived at my house. Having some fun with it.

As for the state of my DS...I'm much happier with the state of my DS, than my PSP at this point.
