Monolith (the Japanese one) goes crazy

Dude, Kajiura's score was fantastic, she is one of the best composers working in Japan today; it's just a shame she only did the music for the cutscenes... Oh and also that the music during gameplay was ABSOLUTE TRASH! Who the hell was that guy, and why did he make it into the industry?

I vote Kajiura for 100% of the game's tunes. We can only hope.

I'm not saying that Kajiura is bad, just that i'd prefer to have Mistuda back on the series. His music fit the series better.

So they didn't learn after XS2. There's only 1 real composer for the series.

Oh stop it. Kajiura and Hosoe did a fine job, especially Kajiura.

I admit, some of the town themes were whacked out, but come on, he gave a good effort.

Shinji Hosoe did all the battle themes, and all of them were at LEAST good, some were spectacular. And some of the dungeon themes, like when in Labyrinthos, was some of the best in the series.

I really don't know why Shinji Hosoe gets dissed so much.

Yeah, the theme she wrote for Episode II was fucking beautiful.

Truth!

I really, really hope Kajiura will continue to compose Episode 3's music (maybe not just for cutscenes!)...

Maybe they'll use Pied Piper quality graphics. As long as it looks better than Lunar, I'll be satisfied.

Great news with Baten Kaitos 2. I wonder if Baten Kaitos DS is around though. If so, I'm there for both of them.

Xenosaga III is pretty funny. They keep beating the dead horse but why oh why do we need Xenosaga I & II on DS? Shortened cutscenes may actually help the games however. :lol

On Topic: Mitsuda bitchslaps Kaijura. Any other opinion is wrong.

Off topic: any famitsu news regarding MGS4? :P

Anyway, isn't it funny all of these part 3 games that seems more suitable for a PS3 release gets a PS2 release? Soul Calibur 3, Metal Gear Solid 3 and now Xenosaga 3...

MGS3 should have been a PS3 game?

Some of the cutscenes in Xeno were ~24 minutes!

24 MINUTES!

THAT'S AS LONG AS FUCKING DUCKTALES EPISODE

AND I'LL BET YOU THE BEST CUTSCENE IN XENO WAS WAY SHITTIER THAN THE ABSOLUTE WORST EPISODE OF DUCKTALES!

I am un-excited.

I'm not exactly in a place to really criticize the guy, as I wouldn't describe my musical abilities as 'extensive' or 'not shit', but I've rarely ever been put off by an RPG score, and yet I straight up hated Hosoe's work. I truly feel it is one of the worst RPG scores I've heard in quite some time; totally uninspired and borderline grating.

8 years ago, I'd agree. But as of today, hecks no. Mitsuda is unquestionably brilliant, but he lacks true diversity in his music, and I think it's best that he doesn't do as many (or any?) game scores now as he did during the PSone days. He'll never top his Xenogears work, though not because he doesn't have the talent to do so.

I remember one being more than a half an hour. Prompted for a save in the middle of it :lol

I was always a N64 gamer, so I missed the original Xenogears, but some of my buds seemed to dig it. Probably had something to do with Evangelion coming around that time, too.

Maybe Majesco had the biggest breakthrough ever with GBA video and the game will use a GBA Video Cart with it.

Megaton :lol

Better give them the number of a good IP lawyer.

I'm not familiar with the laws regarding IPs, but why is it so easy in Japan versus here in the US? Why can't Namco/Capcom publish it themselves here seeing as it's their characters? Why so much red tape?

I'd rather have 20+ minute cutscenes with voice acting as opposed to clicking through every single dialogue box. Not that I dislike dialogue boxes, I never really have, but I do welcome voiced cutscenes.

Exactly.

Sounds like XSep2 redux aka. a crappy game :(

I was hoping that after ep2 did poorly and became the #1 most hated rpg in Japan quickly dropping to <$20, that they would fire everyone and get either the ep1 staff back or go with an entirely new team. But it just seems like they didn't care at all about the reaction to the game or the low sales and just kept making more XS with the same people.

Though after that message from Soraya, I guess we should've expected this.

Xenosaga had longer cutscenes than even Xenogears, they're two different games really.

Xenosaga would drone on forEVER

whoa Baten Kaitos 2 is completely unexpected. Monolith rocks. Unfortunately I don't care about Xenosaga (the first was more than enough for me), but good news for the DS nonetheless.

So many exclusives for the GC so late in its lifecycle...

This is it's really funny and doesn't make sense, but it's all good for a loyal Gamecube fan.

How much did Baten Kaitos sell again on the GC? Something around 20,000 in my vague memory?? How long earth does that sales warrant a sequel...

Plus I am still surprised Namco is not porting this game to the PS2... like they did with ToS.

Hmmm... my favorite videogame music composer, Motoi Sakuraba, seems to be taking a break lately... I hope he returns for Baten Kaitos II. God I love that soundtrack SO MUCH!

He is still composing Tales of the Abyss in Dec. I wouldn't be surprised if it's another 4 cd, 100+ track soundtrack.

I vote it's method, cuz for the life of me, I can't remember a single tune from Saga Ep. 1 except the generic battle theme, and that had to be hammered in from hundreds of battles.

He must've had writer's block looking down at that orchestra or something.

And a big MEH to those games. Cheating enemies do not a sequel purchase make, Mono.

as i said many months ago, the juxtaposition of xenosaga and the ds has the real potential to produce the single worst game ever.

ROOFLES at xenosaga 3 subtitle. i can't wait for xenosaga 4: the genealogy of morals. or whatever the shit that is in german.
