Tek, join us.

I'll be on tomorrow night. Just taking a look at the conduit then sleep...but I will definitely be on tomorrow evening. Have we decided on a default gaf room since J 50 seems to fill up really fast?

old jungle is an awful awful map. not only do you have trees everywhere, screwing up my depth perception, every area is also enclosed by walls. and you know how the camera goes all crazy near a wall. why are there stone walls in a jungle!? <angry>

Hahah yea, and they had to go and put G rank missions in it. I do love the map though, it's a pretty area. And I just fought the G Kezu in smallest cave of the old jungle, damn he was huge.

finally dug into this game, anyone here know anything about the felyne figters? what training to do? good skills?

I've been experementing a bit with them.
I imported my character and got 3 felyne fighters. a bomber, a support, and a "weapons lover"
Most effort has been put into my melee fighter, 18 G missions + some bulldrome runs in and he's LVL 16 with full affinity (all hearts). So far I haven't been able to tell if the felynes level up out on gathering quests, or if they need a completed mission.

my fighter, Epperson, has shown a lot of improvement :D and has even landed the killing blow twice on the Hypnocotryce. He also has begun to wack enemies into being stunned a lot. He gets a few carves off the monsters now that he has that thievery skill learned, and he's learning quicker movement/gathering.
The flute, elemental, and support skills work but you can only teach them 3 at most so I'm staying away from support options.

Anyone going to be up for some hunts later tonight?

EDIT: I might throw a room up in a little bit, but first i'll check J2 or J50 and see whats up.

I promise not to bring instruments into a hunt until I really learn how to use them :lol

EDIT: Is it better to go with whole suit sets or just mix em up? Also I guess I should ask what we are hunting before we go/ location and whatnot. Dont want to bring something that'll hinder more than help.

you want to make a set for the skills. each part has some skill points. to obtain the skill usually requires a minimum of 10 points. after that, 15, 20 will offer further development of that skill. for some skills. generally a full set will give you some skills, and possibly some negative skills too. mixing will allow you to get a set with a useful skill mix not found in a pre-set set.

having the right equipment will generally make the fight easier. whether it be the correct weapon/element or armor skills that counter a monsters, like high grade earplugs if you don't want to die by khezu or gravios. or wind resistance vs kushala.

Yep mix and match armors so fun.

To anyone who did a char transfer from mh2, what exactly is transferred? Just your char, his gold and the armor on him?
Or the stuff in his inventory too? What about stuff in the item box?

So I ended up eschewing the Hunting Horn and moved towards Dual Blades, much to my annoyance.

Does anyone have an approximation of how popular each weapon is? I want to really focus on one weapon (obviously having one or two as backup for times that call for something else), but I also don't want to go and pick something that everyone else uses.

Any help would be much obliged.

Everything transfers aside from Hunter Rank and card.

EDIT: Oh and i'm ready to do some hunting.

Might give this game a buy tomorrow, I put a lot of time into the first MHF then eventually bailed. I think that since this game actually has a strong online thing going that I may try taking it back up again.

I hope that I like this more than the first go around!

Man, felt like I was barely doing any damage to the monster... like stabbing at it with a thumbtack lol. I need to get some sharper weapons and stock up on more items.

Heads up, those of you with saves from 2ndG, there's a roundabout method to convert them into Unite, useful for those who want to switch over.
1. Boot 2g
2. Enter village with selected character to convert
3. Open Freecheat select 'MEM Manager' (top right option) then 'Start Dump' (middle option) press X to go back and then choose 'USB Connect'.
4. Open MHP2ME051.exe and click the '(F) tab' then the top option and select the memdump00X.mem file from your 'MS:/freecheat/dump' folder
5. Click (F) again... then the 2nd option... and select 'FC .pat' name it xy and click save, save it on the desktop
6. There will be a ULJM-05500.pat on the desktop
7. Open Hexworkshop and select the 2g pat file, highlight all bytes up to the first character of the name.. right click 'Delete' so your left with your characters name at the start of the file (You could change their name here if you wanted just follow the format)
8. then press ctrl+A (select all) and ctrl+C (Copy) the file
9. Open a EU/US template whichever you require in hexworkshop and scroll to the bottom were it says n.a.m.e. highlight the word, from the first letter and press ctrl+v (Paste) alot more text should appear it'll be highlight red
10. Then File.. 'SAVE AS'.. xy.pat and copy it to ms:/freecheat/patch
11. back to freecheat again.. mem options.. then bottom option.. Load the .pat in Unites Village and then introduce your 2g character to a Hypnocatrice o_O
