Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Thread

It was epic.

You been progressing through the ranks?

I've been running back and forth trying to farm up enough stuff to get a flame great sword or sword+shield to kill Khezu urgent quest. Got close and then screwed up when a Velociprey popped me out of nowhere...then I got shocked slammed by an enraged Khezu.

Khezu was the first monster that really gave me trouble. He is easy after you get his patterns down though.

Reported by Tntnnbltn in the PS Store thread, Capcom answered our request.
MHFU is now available on the EU PS Store for download.

Edit: Downloading now. Game is 817MB.

Ad hoc party has so many experienced players. Does anyone want to quest with a beginner like me? I have played MH before, but I am not good yet.

If anybody does this, please give some impressions on the loadtimes. as it stands, with the install options they're the shortest MH load times by a mile (perhaps not for Frontier, but i've never tried it).

I would but I'm busy for the rest of the day unfortunately (and need to get basic grip of game as well).

edit: I have time to check load times. Let me finish download first.

I've set up a house in J world, and in number 6 (server 6?) I have username tailzo, and the house is called norway.

edit: Wollan, let me know if you want to play some other time, I welcome newbies.

If I can get my internet up and running this weekend, then I'm game for helping anybody burn through some ranks. PSN = plus1chromosome

Took me 8 seconds to load a Quest Area (the very first one) with Install Off (the option is there even in this DL version) and with Load Caching Off.

Epic fight with G rank Red Khezu in the new solo missions.. holy shit, that was close O.o
i dont think the solo missions for the cat are g rank...think they are plus rank, you only get g rank from the hunter guild.

The solo missions for the cat are G rank.. you begin anywhere in the map, supplies arrive later, the monsters have the G rank movements (for example, the Khezu has a new charged shot with more electric balls) and the materials are G rank. Just yesterday I got my True Devil Slicer :D. Currently I'm burning ranks with a friend in the Guild (just reached HR 3) and with the cat I have to do the urgent for 8 stars, dual Monoblos

I've opened a house for four players in J-world server 1. (Ad-hoc) My PSN id is "tailzo". The house is called "Open for new players". Please join me.

edit:
anyone...?

edit2: I finally gave up, and joined 3 japanese people instead. They very extremely nice and helpful to me :) They seemed very happy when I uttered broken and limited japanese (arrigato, suimasen, sugoi, ect. into the mic.) They didn't have mics though. Kept writing funny engrish.

I will be on in a few hours if anyone wants to play, will have a room up in J-2

I'm down. I was actually trying to take on a Plesioth and as usual, get my butt handed to me. First I tried the bowgun and then the long sword. Maybe I'll stick with the bowgun for this guy. :lol

Damn, me and my Hermitaur armor got tore up in that Elder Cat Shakalaka mission. Maybe I should get to high rank before I try that shit again.

Also I'm loving hammer only for the most part, but the one thing that bugs me is how freakishly accurate you have to be to get a head shot (impact damage) versus landing a hit somewhere along the neck.

Ah I know what you mean. Usually the charge move half way works occasionally. But yeah, that's my 2nd love, can't wait to upgrade my Gunhammer Prototype. <3

Ah those guys. You have to be patient with these guys, but you can get some hits when they stop or do that sand blast. After a while, they'll come out to play, just give it some time and a few good licks. ;)

I've noticed the hammer thing too. In order to get the yellow KO indicator to pop up you have to hit at freakishly perfect angles and I haven't really worked out how to do it reliably yet.

Also, while people are mentioning khezu - anyone wish he had actual battle music? Just because he can't see you doesn't mean that he doesn't know you're there/it isn't time to cue some epic theme (or something more suiting khezu's big bloated slimy disgustingness).

I think thats why I cant get into fighting it. No music, just atmospheric noises and him snorting and screaming.

There definately should be some music for the Khezu fight. Maybe something like the Chameleos fight where it turns on when he's enraged or when he can smell you (so a dung bomb would turn it off or maybe... make it more epic).

Edit: Yeah, the Gunhammer line of weapons are sweet!! I have the Dead Revolver right now and I'm tearing up Plessy and Khezu with it, but I still think the anchor hammers are the cooler (just wish more monsters were weak against it).

Will the UMD disc ask me to update my firmware if I purchase the game? I'm running m33-6 and want to make sure I won't have any problems before grabbing this.

No, I have m33-6 as well, and it plays just fine. I did try to rip it though using UMDumper and it stops at around 86%. So I just did a data install and yeah, runs just fine. Get it!

Ahh so I haven't picked up the game yet still on MHF2, should I stay in MHF2 until I get HR8 or should I move over to unite now? Worried about some weapons/armor becoming harder to get in MHFU. What should I do GAF?

As far as I know, none of the stuff is harder to get. The only real changes are in the damage some of the weapons do. So if you are used to Akantor Bowing everybody and their mom or using Dual Swords, I'd advise you to get your ya ya's out. Otherwise move up to Unite.

Didn't Capcom announce they were releasing soundtracks for their games (including MHFU)? If it hit iTunes I'd be there on day 1; love the MH music.

Went Kut Ku hunting for ears to create some gems for autotracker (gemming my Obituary + Dark Metal Boots armor set) and was hammering one in the Elder *** quest in LITERALLY two mins. Freakin' love the hammer.

Also - Capcom music announcement: http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/5113.html

We had a great time tonight, 6 people were in the room. Dunno if they well all from GAF. Probably won't play tomorrow, but I will for sure on Sunday.

That was some epic fun we had! Can't wait to do it again! :D

Found myself moving over to lances recently. Fought in the (hr2?) basarios unseen peril quest and it took forever to kill it with the growling wyvern. Most of my attacks would bounce so I ended up just doing the charge back and forth for about 35 minutes or so. Eventually his chest broke (not sure when that happened) and I found a nice cushy spot to upstab until he died.

I don't know how the damages end up/which attacks do the most damage.

I ended up moving back to greatswords for now - super easy to use and retarded damage to boot.

Can anyone give any advice to a budding lance user, especially one moving over from greatswords in the bronze coin range?

yay, finally beat g-rank plessioth. after many attempts at bowing it down on my own, and 1 failed attempt at adrenaline +2 bowing in a group. switch back to good ol' melee, using upgrade true devil slicer and shock traps.

the lesson: don't gun. trap 'n' whack.

now to take on naruga...

Count me in for Sunday. Need more HQ stuff, and those slay X amount of stuff missions are boring :lol

EDIT: Also to those new, dont forget to check the download section periodically. Triumvirate of the Sands quest pays off BIG TIME...but might be a real challenge. Just found that training quests can be decent sources of materials too.

Oh and has anyone tried to capture a monster online yet, or do people usually just do that solo?

Finally got the time to spend a few evenings with Unite. In summary it's a great upgrade from MHF2 on PSP and well worth getting. Lots of extra nice touches and optimisations -- the main one being able to perform operations on items in your storage box rather than constantly performing inventory swaps.

Online I'm in Kai (www.teamxlink.co.uk), always in English Speaking, and normally in the HR1 room as this is where most of the action is outside of G-class questing, even for higher HR levels.

XLink Kai username: Kaede_Smith

The Kai Monhun community is very active, very very helpful, and very accommodating of new players. Several occasions I've been in rooms where people just enter seeking help getting their setup working or it's their first time on Kai. The rest of the room has always helped out and been extremely patient.

I'd like to get my PS3 setup for ad-hoc party, but it's on a wireless connection to my DSL router and I'm not about to re-wire at the moment. Maybe soon.
