Are there any (heavy) bowgun guides online?
Found a really good guide that teaches you how to use bowguns efficiently but I'm actually looking for a guide that tells you which materials you need to make new ones since I've always used bowguns in MH games and I'm fairly used to them.
Also, are bowguns used very frequently online?

There is some reason to stay in MHF2, as I asked in my question on the last page they added missions tot he guild hall quest so you kind of get shitted on when you need to clear all of HR4/HR5 to unlock Elder dragons in HR6. Another thing that people recommend is you farm all your Ratholos/Rathian Rubys in MHF2 due to the higher drop rates. Lastly, you want to get your barrage piercing and Sword saint piercing in MHF2 because they added quests in MHFU. To get these 2 items you have to completely all 10 solo training quest with all 5 weapons, so 50 fights for Barrage piercing. Sword Saint Piercing you have to complete all 5 special training quest with all 5 weapons. Other then that or if you don't care about that stuff, move onto Unite. My favorite feature besides decreased loading is that you can buy stuff to box. And at the end of a missions you can send your rewards straight to box.

To anyone thinking of purchasing this game . Just go get it.
Its a fantastic game; there is a reason that the game has sold Millions in Japan. Its a game that takes time and patience, but it will pay off.
Its only 29.99 and the PS3 AD-Hoc party community is big enough that anytime you want to get a hunt going people are ready to play. If you are having trouble hunting a Kheza or Diablos just hop online with AD-Hoc party and the community will help you out : )
Also the amount of DL content that capcom keeps putting out is great! every week new quests and items. I will never take this game out of my PSP, its truly one of the best PSP games you can purchase.

Man I hate Plesioth. There are like 3 missions that involve it with the second set of missions from the cat.

I know all that stuff, but he is just a pain at the higher ranks. That damn hipcheck and just the random sprints back into the water

This may not apply to you but I usually bring a friend and chain shock trap him till he dies. We both beat the living crap out of him non stop. We hate this guy so much we just go all out on the bastard.

Almost HR5 now and really getting into using the hammers, just need some union ore to be able to upgrade the Anvil Hammer and then I can really bust some heads. In a monster hunting sense of course.

Just beat HR9 Black Gravios with a friend. Spoilers: he's a fucking bitch. Cut off the tail and it becomes just a little bit easier. Just a little.

I don't ever recall in any of my fights with a plesioth where it was enraged by sonic bombs. I do know that fishing him out with a frog puts him in rage mode though. I do believe damage is involved and if not you still get some free hits... if you can deal with the instant rage

Hit HR8 last week... personally never saw myself hitting that rank honestly, but it's largely thanks to ad-hoc party. I pretty much soloed all the way up to G rank so I've grinded my way up.

stopped plating my melee character for a wghile because I was stuck on Khezu now my gunner is also at the same point and also stuck at khezu.
been hitting khezu on the legs to knock him over and stomping on his head when he's down but I always seem to run out of time. made kut ku DS, Glutton set DS, twin pickaxe, made some strong gunalcnes, lances, long sword and no luck. armor isnt a big deal since I can fight him taking minimal damage from his attacks.

I took a week off of playing it, needed a break from farm blagonga's to get cold resist armour to assist in the fight agains kushala daora.
I use a gunlance and I have the basic level posion attrib gunlance but hitting KL with it feels like I'm hitting him with a wooden spoon.
Should I just give up and craft a different type of weapon with high poison attrib and fight him that way?
Am I wasting time being faithful to my gunlance and trying to beat him that way?

Some monsters are obviously easier using certain weapons, and harder with others, but if you have a newfound passion for the gunlance, stick with it! Remember to use the dodges as well as blocking sensibly, and make sure you have time to recover from shots/wyvern fire.bigdaddygamebot said:

The thing about Kushie is his wind aura. I can see how that can be annoying if you are using the gunlance. You can disable the wind aura permanently by
breaking his face. As you know poison or causing him to stumble will temporarily disable the aura. Try and aim for the face as much as possible, the sooner you break it the better
I found using the hammer or LS is a very good choice on Kushie if you feel GL just doesn't fit you for this Elder Dragon. Keep in mind it can take up to 3 separate fights to bring down these Elder Dragons. Once you get a high powered weapon it can only take 1 or 2 fights.

I think LS is the way to go against Kushie. I can usually take him down in 2 fights by myself and with help in 1

Bring paintballs and psychoserums as well because he likes to hide in the lava after running away. If you're in the middle area of the volcano, where he could be on either side...sometimes he'll beam from under the lava, and for some reason, it will hit you.
He also has this new thing where he'll walk towards you slowly and will continue to do so until you stop running away. It's sort of amusing to watch him do it to a friend.
It took me and my friend a good 40 minutes to down the bastard with a GS and a hammer..but a lot of the time was spent on running away from his tail.

I completely forgot about releasing the program here, sorry guys. I released it over at gamefaqs and minegarde forums and have received pretty good feedback. I'm a little tired so I'm just gonna paste one of those posts. I'll be around to answer questions, but do read the readme. Here it goes:
I'm proud to present my Armor Combo Solver, which finds you the best possible sets (defensewise, not looks), with the skills you want, if such a set can be made in MHFU. I released this yesterday at the Minegarde forums.
You need Excel 2007 to run it (won't work on previous versions) you also need to download a trial to additional software which expires in 15 days (so after that period you can't make any new sets, though you can still look at the database).
READ THE README included. Everything is explained in detail there. Also have a look at the Minegarde thread on my sig, a lot of questions have been answered there.
I'd like to point out I only made the program, not the database (I just corrected a few things and updated some names), so I can't take credit for that huge undertaking.

sounds neat but i was disappointed when i saw your "program" was an excel file. i don't have MS office to try it out, either...
if you want, perhaps you can share your database source and i could help turn it into an actual .exe. would probably be pretty easy to make in Construct and it wouldn't require people to have additional software.

Replicating that on a stand alone program would be quite a feat and a massive undertaking, which I'm not prepared to make. Excel is pretty ubiquitous anyway and works just fine for something like this.
Edit: Funny how the google ads are pointing toward the solver files you need to download for this. Anyone else get that?
