Man, I've been playing Tri at a friend's house recently, and it's blowing our minds. Happily, Unite still has lots of appeal though, so as soon as I can get Ad-hoc party working (wireless setup currently), you can be sure I'll be questing with you chaps

only usable items, not materials, go to menu, items, select the wanted item and select "give" in the submenu then select your comrade or cat
EDIT:
Horns for multiplayer can be very usefull. Also any ranged weapon can make some interesting strategies, like any other guy puts a large bomb near the monster and runs away while you inmediately blow it up...

that lack of mobility turned me off to lances as well. the thing about lances is that they have the strongest guards in the game so they're all about gettin' all up the monster's face and poking them to death in the face of danger. poke poke poke hop, poke poke poke hop.
if playing multiplayer, beware of moves that disrupts your teammates. such as the uppercuts from the gs and hammer, and horizontal slashes from ls. lances don't seem to have to worry about teammates as much. not such a big deal in 2 player, where you can work on different parts of the monster, but when it gets crowded at 4 player...

Is not hard, but instead of hunting it he escaped :S, its me or none of the bombs affects it? nor flash nor sonic...
And holy shit at urgent quest LV4 tigrex... I cant beat that fucking monster, even with a friend (he dies 2-3 times maybe is not that skilled :lol sorry! if you read this, its true!) it always killed us when is about to die, and if I go solo, it last a ton and my time rans out :S
I can kill tigrex on the offline quests without trouble but online it has a lot of Hp and the fucker just dont die...

one trick I learned about him is the sound effect for his electric charge seems to loop 3 times before he ends it. That can help when trying to attack him again. I have gotten good about starting the attack before it's ended, and he cuts it off just before the sword actually hits him.
Also, you need to bail out earlier than you think to be safe in case he shocks. I usually go in, 2 hits, and bail. Other than that, getting next to him while he does the electric spit and wailing a few hits and bailing again. He isn't that hard, but the approach you take with him is different than most dragons.

After mainly using a Lance/GL combo I bought my character a few bows and Gunner armor sets for a change of pace and playstyle.
A quick questions is using a bow just expensive in the sense that you have to layout 1600 in money before every hunt to stock up on Power vials, could there be any reason not to use arrow modifiers before entering a hunt? I am not taking the time nor do I have the patience to combine nitroshroom and vials and collect nitroshrooms en masse.
Any other tips from experienced bow user would be appreciated.

I'm contemplating focusing on a new weapon as a backup. I've primarily been using Lance and katana, but am thinking about maybe picking up Bow...
any tips for someone who is very well versed in the game but almost a total dumbass when it comes to bows? THe thing that confuses me is the different models of bows... it feels like it's very different from standard weapon upgrades....

I'm genna practice bow tonight on weaker monsters just to get the hang of it... I gotta make some decent gunner armor as well I guess :lol

i was looking into and tried out for a bit heavy bow gun since they're supposed to be comparable to GS and Hammers in terms of damage output. whereas bows and light bow guns rank fairly low on damage output. what i found was that they tend to be really expensive to use. make shots uses up so much material and maxing out a type of shot isn't enough to kill a monster. you need different types of shots as well as materials to make more during the quest. infinite shot normal lv 1 is your very very last resort. it's like if you need it, you've probably lost. i don't really wanna gather materials out on missions so the next option is cheap stuff from old woman. you'd need to keep stacks of it in the box. as a blademaster, i didn't need anything besides whetstones. that's the one thing that turn me off on 'em.

once again thx... I'll read up.
guts is a pretty good skill for gunners. can't be one hit ko's when your health is over 60 or something. leaves you with 1 hp so that you can escape with your tail between your legs
on the another side is adrenaline +2. when health is below 40, your attack and defense goes up.
for bows,
fast charge is good.
capacity up is good. gives you an extra charge level. obviously works better with fast charge
stamina/runner is good for shooting at things for a longer time
for bowguns
auto reload is simply awesome. for bows, not so much as it just applies the coatings automatically. if you have this, capcity up is redundant
and then you have the usual good all arond skills like reckless abandon, attack up, evade
hge might be good, but with gunning, i think you can stay on the outside of scream range so it's not so important

Been a long time since I last played Monster Hunter. Getting Kirin armor at the moment, but hating the chest plate. Just made a chick character so maybe I can have something to properly wear the kirin armor.
I'm curious as to what has been added since the first Monster Hunter besides the obvious cat stuff. What's this mention of abilities and such? Also, when can I start fighting Kirin?

Damn Im currently at lvl 6 stars quest of nekoth, and khezu... ahh! khezu... the fucker always haunt my dreams :lol
Im currently fighting the red khezu, but fuck some attacks do like 70% of dmg! He "combo" me when I fuck up and the thunder missiles get me, he always kill me.
I guess I need a new armor, but havent seen a S or U set that has good skills. Im seriously thinking to make a kirin armor just to fight that fucker...
But, the resistance vs thunder does it actually do something? I kind of dont want to spend materials and money to make an "older" armor (not S nor U), because the only S or U armor with thunder resistance is khezu's and I need to kill the fucker to get it :lol

Wow , I am back from my weekend. I played a little MH as a gunner and I liled it so much I am going to expand my character into that area.
What a change of pace fighting monsters and sometimes not getting hit.
It's a challenge though and a class that does take skill. I was fighting with a party and I got careless and a Plesioth took me out in one hit...embarrasing.

Ok, so my last post went over like a fart in church and got buried under posts of people who are actually enjoying online play. I have a question pertaining to playing online. I don't have a PS3, so Xlink is my only choice it seems. Can I still play with people who are using a PS3 if I'm using Xlink? I'm gonna use this CFW they posted so I can use my Linksys as opposed to dropping close to $100 on some shitty Datel adapter.
Also, my save file got corrupted when I transferred it over to my new memory card, 20 hours - gone. I know in the grand scheme of things that is nothing but I'm getting pissed off starting over from the beginning. Hopefully I can build a competent character in time to play online with the rest of ya.

No, xlinx uses its own servers so, you cant play with ps3 users...

been playing this randomly the whole weekend... i realized I have a ton of random stuff that could make some high grade weapons so I'm unloading some 99x stacks of thigns I have for bundles of money and making some good weapons as well as the joke weapons.
Once I'm done getting all I am shooting for I'll work on HR9... and then after that high end armor and weapons.
