Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Thread

Well, I have searched for 1 week, for high res (1080p+), concept art, draws of monster hunter (want to use one as wallpaper) but I cant find any...

Does anyone have a source for high res (and clean) wallpapers/concept art of monster hunter? I have just found a tigrex one, but want to see others.

What is the chance of getting Ceanataur Claws like 2 to 5%? I beat the thing three times yesterday easily breaking both claws.

I am a little frustrated because I simply need the claws for a bow.

Any tips is it better to Elder quests or Gathering Hall quests to get the carve is there a specific tip?

According to Minegarde, the percentage to carve a Ceanataur Claw is 10 percent.

The quickes way to get them, is get a impact weapon, and break those claws. Also get a quest where you hunt 2 or more of these shoguns Ceanataur, I remember doing a quest with 2 or multiple of these crabs, altought dont remember exactly where.

Any HR1-2 players out there that want to try out ad-hoc play?

I have a room up on J2 Lobby 2
MHFU GAF nubs
'HR1-2 nubs'
pass is believe

It's 12:43pm est, will try to keep it open until 1:30pm est or longer if ppl decide to play.

Just general stuff, get a hang of playing in a party.

Voice chat prefered.

Is it normal on the first encounters with elder dragons, like teostra, lunastra, chameleos, that they flee? I havent tried again to kill them, but when I confronted them, they fled... (kushala daora did this too, but I killed it on the next quest I need to hunt it)

Maybe I just slow to kill them, but I dont know...

It's normal. You'll get another chance later on.

Elders stretch across several quests. If you damage them, say cut off the tail, you will notice that it is still severed in later quests.

well, High rank plesioths are a pita, so I kind of want to start training with light bowguns.

The thing is, what does mean the cap. thing?
I dont have a screenshot utility in my psp so it kind of looks like this:

______LV_1__2__3
Normal S : 6 / 6 / 9
Pierce S_ : 3 / 0 / 3
Pellet S__: 0 / 0 / 0

and so on...

What does those numbers mean?

In the example, The 0's means I cant use that type of ammo?

Searched a little on google, but didnt find exactly what it is or what those number say.

That's your max number of shells per load. And yeah, zero means you can't equip that shell for that gun.

Those numbers represent how many shots you can load into your bowgun. You'll need to reload after shooting 3 PierceS Lv3.

well, I'm working on 100% all the cat quests and since I have alot of the best katanas maxed out and some decently good armor the quests are alot easier than I was expecting...

Once I'm done with the cat I'm going to shoot for HR9.

After that Silv Los Armor Z or whatever it is... after that... um...?

You're going after Silver Los Z armor? good luck.

sotodefonk said:
Oh, thanks, then I need a good pierce S bowgun for plesi.

I guess there is no bowgun capable to accept all types of ammo right?

Lao guns. You need a good heavy bowgun for Plesioth. You need Thunder and Fire S(and materials to make more). After using all that up shoot Normal 2 shots.

Im looking for help.

Im at the HR6 quests and cant seem to kill black grav in the time limit. Plus Im pretty sure Ill need help with the urgents.

Anyone wanna play sometime this week after 6ish west coast?

Ok I give up :(

Seriosly! WTF with that nekoth and his 8 stars quest of dual green plesioths at the old jungle?!?!?

DAMN! the fuckers always stay together and when I try to lure only one of them , they start to comboe me until Im dead (the bastards do a lot of damage!).

When they finally split up, I start with one, but after less than 5 min the other plesi como to the same area, I mean wtf, how I can beat those fuckers?!?!

tried light bowgun and sword with no luck until I rage quit :lol

Actually killed Lao for the first time by myself just now. Wasn't sure He was dead since it was so close to the end and he took about 3 hours to fall. I was carving until time went up, and I wonder how many carves in total he gives you?

100% the elder quests, did about half of the cat quests, and I suppose I'll focus on getting my hr up, for when I get to play with my cousin. So far I have done 100% of my quests with LS, and just started making lances. Cant wait to actually be able to play with someone besides daigo (my felyne warrior.)

At some point, about six hours ago, I clicked on this thread and read a little bit. That got me to thinking..."Hmm, I should play some MHFU, it's been a few days after all".

Six hours, five Cephadromes, one Iodrome, a bunch of new armor, and one newly acquired Dark Scythe later, I'm finishing up for the night.

Damn this game is evil. :lol

(Still, it feels great to finally have my Dark Scythe and not have to grind Cephadromes for Piscene Fangs anymore. :D )

EDIT: Aaaaaaaaand I went back and played like three more hours. DAAAAAAAMN YOU CAPCOM.

9 carves total. For the low~hi rank one I would bring a High Speed Gathering skill to make sure I got all 9, because like you said it takes like 3 hours for him to fall down lol. You can get 3 carves from the head area, 3 from body, and 3 from tail area.

Jumping on Ad-hoc Party really soon if anyone is bored. Yeah, I know it's 9am. I work overnights and just got home :P (Hopefully I can get some G elder materials...)

I hate them so much, im going to learn Lances and Gunlances, hopefully that will be less frustrating to clear them.

Nekoht's quests aren't that bad aside from the final quest which I haven't tried it yet. Apparently it's an epic quest with g-rank level monsters. You get 50 minutes in the great arena with the following sequence of bosses: rathalos, tigrex, narga, rajang

I'll get at least two badges when I clear that one. Maybe it will be three badges if I clear HR 6 white fatalis first.

An extra help on that jungle double-Plesioth fight is to have a cat that can lay shock traps. During one battle that was nearing the end, I took a chance and stayed FPS aiming (bowgun) at the one right in front of me to kill it off NOW, even as the second Plesioth popped up to my right. Serious gamble since my health would not have sustained the water stream hit I knew was about to come from that sneaky second s.o.b.

But...nothing. Turns out my cat had laid a shock trap just by where the second came out and stopped him immediately. And it gave me just enough time to finish the first Plessy as I suspected. After that, one Plessy against a competent heavy bowgunner is anticlimactic.

Lightning, sir.

Lightning fucks them up to no end, I do believe.

I'm a "gunlance guy" and the guys I play with occasionally all swear that plesioths are bitches to fight and I have no trouble with farming them.

Get thee a gunlance, sir.

And trap the fuck out of them.

Stun one with a trap, the run up good and close and blow your dragon fire from your gunlance. Keep doing that with traps everytime your dragon fire resets.

It's tough, but not rage-quit tough.

:lol thats good luck i guess

I have a cat that also can put sock traps, the only time he put one, was too close to the edge to the lake, and the plesioths, big as fuck, didnt get caught by it.. well, the thing is, once they kill me once, my buffs go down, and with my HP at 100, is a one-hit kill :S

I have Butterfly S armor, but I guess i need to time better my rolls... I always do them too fast, and the evade +2 does nothing :lol

does gunlance uses blademaster armor? any recomendation on a good high rank gunlance?

Okay, quick question.

As I'm a singleplayer-only player, is there any reason for me to worry about raising my HR right now? Or should I just concentrate on the Elder missions?

raising HR unlocks new armors you can make, and other things (upgrades you can get for the farm, things like that.)

Yeah concentrate on completing most of the elder. Be familiar with the monsters and then start doing the Hall quest.

Right im getting the Full Voltage gunlance, tried with a normal lance last night and got my ass handed to me, I will get better at killing this thing.

Finally found this, which can be a good resource for you guys when hiring cats.

It took some time, but I finally have a full kitchen staff of orange cats.

Today i fought my first Nargacuga, and it was pretty easy. I had my usuall setup, true devil slicer, and butterlfy S armor, gemmed to attack up.

Didnt kill me once and I breaked his tail, claws, one elbow, and i guess the face too (I received 2 fangs) :S

I read it was a bitch to fight, even some experienced hunters, that played all the other games, said it was the first monster which they actually had a hard time (I guess all the previous monsters are on the previous games).

Also his tail attack (where it stick to the ground for a little) drains a lot of dmg :lol
like 70% of a full bar.

Maybe I was too well prepared because I read all that stuff :D ... Well, time to get the nargacuga armor :D

When the "video" started when you get to his area, I actually tought it will be super fast, because the way he hunt that kelbi :lol

Also when he is in rage the glow eyes looks very badass :P

Anyway I think the G level nargacuga will be a pain in the ass.. But dont know when it will appear there (currently HR5)

Argh. Fighting my first Green Plesioth. Simply cannot beat him. Tried all the same tactics I used on the normal Plesioth, and I just can't get past him. And I beat the normal Plesioth in the Desert without taking a single hit. I think it's the terrain (Jungle).

Anyway, any general tips? If I can't take him down soon I may just take a break from MH for a while, maybe pick up Valhalla Knights Eldar Saga when it comes out, play that until Phantasy Star Zero comes out.

k i downloaded the friday quest for White Fatalis... I can beat the shit outa him with my maxed out Silver Los LS but he always kills me near the end when he keeps going to the top of the tower and summoning lighting...

also note this is the first time I've ever fought fatalis.

Well, what weapon do you use? Melee can be hard, ranged is the easiest for plesioth.

Bring you favorite weapon, if possible, thunder elemental, and your armor with higher defense.

With plesioth well, if you can, bring sonic bombs to take him off water, Shock trap, 2 trap tools, and 2 genprey fangs to make two more in battle (Book of combos too because the % of making garbage is high), Potions, Attack and Defense buffs (Power pill, Armor pill, Armorskin, Demondrug) And try take a meal with your cats that raise your defense.

The strategy, is well, take him off water, check where he is when you throw the sonic bomb, and check where does he lands. When he runs to the shore to dive, check the spot. He always will run there to jump.

When he dive again, you already know some good spots to lay a trap.

Try to recreate where you throw the sonic bomb but first lay a shock trap when he lands. Shock trap is double effective against Plesioth, so you have a good amount of time to do damage. Then after the trap effects goes off, make a new trap and lay it where he runs to jump back on water. Continue to attack him until he runs to your trap.

Dont put the trap if he is in the same area for long time, because maybe he changes area and leave your trap there. Instead wait until he changes area and put the trap on the new area. Also dont put traps at random places because he doesnt chase you like other wyverns.

When you are attacking him, the only attack that should be a hard to dodge is his hip attack. try to be between his legs, so his tail whip doesnt hurt you and you can keep attacking him.

With all the time from traps, you pretty much do a lot of dmg to him, just keep attacking him and it will die.

Thats for melee.

For ranged, just bring thunder elemental shots, and pierce shots, first shoot the elemental, then the pierce Lv3-the LV2 at last LV1, and change to Normal LV3-2-1 It will be dead before you run out of ammo and needs to use Normal LV1.

Thanks. I took him out just now. I figured out that it was the terrain in area 3 that was screwing me up for the most part (that and the Congalas and Vespoids hanging around). So I mainly did all my fighting in area 4. Figured out that you can stick close to the coastline most of the time and pretty easily dodge his water attack. Think I used like all 60 of my Flame shot and about 25 Thunder.

Best part is just knowing that I'm not stuck. :lol

When you reach nekoth quests... there is a High Rank quest where you have to hunt 2 green plesioths. Just let you know that you DONT have to do taht quest to progress :lol That my friend, is a pita quest.

I want to play this game too.. I wish I had a PSP, defiantely one of the titles I'll be picking up once I buy one. Guess I'll have to try the first game on PS2 in the mean time, since getting in to Frontier seemed impossible.

Just downloaded the demo. Never played a MH game before, but I have to admit, I'm put off big time by the camera control. My god, what an abomination in an otherwise very cool game.

And am I reading this right: I need to have my PS3 on to create a party over PSN?

I must be missing something here.
