Monster Hunter: Rise Digital Event - January 7th, 6am PST

Lots to like about this game, but not sure I can go back to MH @ 30fps... I'll give the demo a try and see if its bearable. Still think this will get a PC release further down the line.
I guess you could buy the Switch game and emulate it on Yuzu

Edit: nevermind i'm a dumbass, you wouldn't be able to play online

There's a severe framerate bug if you do. Otherwise, I haven't heard of any frame drops.
That might explain why I'm not experiencing any frame drops. I don't play online on my Switch, so I have zero friends on my Switch system.

Can't play the demo. The frame drop is brutal and gave me headache

Couldn't even finish the first hunt...
The game has some frame pacing issues, but come on, it's not THAT bad:

I'm used to play at 60/120fps and I can enjoy the demo. If you want to give it another chance I would advise you to try it on handheld. Maybe it's just me but I think the framepacing issues are less noticeable there.

In all games or just this one? Thanks for the info.

My experience wasn't good by any means. I had massive drops which I also found weird. I will take your advice and try it on handheld. Thanks a lot

Mista, my man, maybe you could consider Monster Hunter: Generations Ultimate. It runs really well both docked and in handheld. Especially docked it looks incredible on my 4k TV, I just can't spot any jaggies or frame drops in that game.

I'm playing MH:W with the boys and having fun a lot. Excited for Rise so I'll wait for it

How fun is Generations?

Hella fun. Especially if you get the ultimate version or whatever it was called. I love MHW (Especially on a PC that can run 4k60fps) but I have a soft spot for handheld MH.

It's great! has a LOT of content and the classic gameplay, which if you are used to World might feel I little bit dated.

I'm a sucker for handheld MH too! You aren't making this easier for me. I'll go ahead :)

Not much, only the greatest, most complete and content filled Monster Hunter to date. It is the ULTIMATE culmination of what Monster Hunter is at the core as well as the farewell letter to the original fans (it has all the villages and characters of the old games). It is the definitive, final version of the classic Monster Hunter experience, the magnum opus, the Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver of Monster Hunter. You will have enough MEANINGFUL content for YEARS and if you would dare to be a completionist then I suggest you take about two decades of vacation time. So yeah, its ok I guess.

I appreciate you mate. I bought it :messenger_sunglasses:

Oh yeah, btw @Mista, my man. Since you probably never played the older Monster Hunter games from the olden times. I would suggest TWO things.

1) Read this article, it tells you important info for the game when you are coming from the modern versions going backwards, since plenty of things will feel weird, unwieldy and annoying but they aren't necessarily that, they are just designed for a specific reason and the game is trying to tell you something with that.

2) Download "Monster Hunger Generations Ultimate Database" on your smart devices as a reference sheet for everything. There is a lot less info in this game than in World (stuff like monster weaknesses and such) but it is all there, monsters, items, maps, weapons, crafting, etc. etc. etc. etc. It makes the game a whole lot more streamlined.

Just the demo. I imagine it'll be fixed at launch.

My man thank you so much for this!

Capcom confirmed that having a high number of friends on your list causes the demo to stutter due to a processing glitch. Will not be present in full game, so those running into issues can expect it to run better than the demo.

https://www.siliconera.com/monster-hunter-rise-stuttering-issue-will-not-be-present-in-full-release/
I figured that was the case, I thought I was crazy since most people were experiencing stutters and frame drops but my experience was pretty smooth.

Finally got around to playing the demo. Unfortunately, the framerate REALLY dampened my experience. I don't like to use lock-on so I always set the camera to fast, but as we all know 30fps + fast camera = jitter. Also, I'm convinced the framerate was fucking up my perfect guard timing with the charge blade because it was happening way too often lol

So yeah, I'm looking forward to the inevitable PC version because 30fps feels like crap.

Edit: Oh and I have like 5 friends on Switch so it's definitely not that.

I'm convinced that I'm playing different game than rest of you guys, because I had zero framerate issues and I'm using longsword which is mostly about counter and I'm able to pull off both Foresight Slash and iai slash counter with no problem.

Inevitable PC version? Did I miss something?

I think there where two problems with the demo: having a huge friendlist, which caused stutter while playing online, and playing docked, which iirc from some youtube video, it has a bug that causes the framerate to go higher than 30fps, messing frametimes a lot.

I have played for 25 hours, monstly handheld, and I had a great experience overall. Yeah, sometime the frames drop to 27-28 during a split second but come on... I consider myself a frame-whore but I had no problem with this one.

Accorsing to the Capcom leaks, the pc version should arrive between October and December, and should be announced around June or July.

Well fuck me guess I will have to double dip! Was already planning to splash 400 for the limited Rise Switch edition and with MH I can't wait 6-12 months for PC.

We are on the same boat! Here's hoping there is some kind of cross save, and cross play too to keep playing with the pals.

Finally got around to playing the demo tonight. I decided to jump back into Monster Hunter World as I never played Iceborne and saw it was on sale and remembered MHW is available in the PS+ Collection on PS5. I'd sold off my disc cook before Iceborne was announced.

Anyway, decided to play the demo for this while I was downloading MHW and ended up playing for a while. Did the two tutorials and then the hunts. Didn't finish the second one as I kept get one-shotted by an attack I hadn't figured out the tell for and got sidetracked once fighting the Rathalos. Didn't beat it either but fought it a long while and weakened it enough to send it to its nest to sleep before failing.

Doubt I'll play the demo much more as I'd rather get into Iceborne. Didn't play much of that yet since I got sucked into the demo. Just got to the first fight and failed. Need to spend some time relearninglong sword combat and the game mechanics in general. Looking at my trophies I haven't played It since April 2018. Put 150+ hours in it over a couple of months then didn't touch it again.

Rise of course doesn't look nearly as good as MHW on PS5, but I was impressed by it. They did a good job going with an art style that looks nice on Switch. I played docked and didn't notice too bad of frame drops, but I'm not super sensitive to them unless they're awful like on the Age of Calamity demo. I think I'll download it to my Lite and see how I like playing it in handheld mode. I'd probaly be more apt to put time into it if I like playing that way. Assuming I both get back into MHW and don't burn out on it before March. Not sure I still have the patience for those games. Fell off the Souls and similar games hard and was getting a bit salty at the second hunt in the demo.

Perhaps you are more accustomed to 30fps? The Switch is the only console I own that still has games at 30fps, and I play maybe one game a year on it so adjusting to the sluggishness and jittery camera takes some time.

If the PC version leak didn't happen, I'd probably bite the bullet and do my best to get used to 30fps again.
But, since the PC version is almost guaranteed thanks to the leaks, I'd rather wait.

I also have PS5 and games run at 60FPS like Demon's Souls but I can still play games with 30FPS with no problem. Some of you guys just so damn oversensitive. I'm wondering how in fuck some you guys even able to play games like Bloodborne on PS4?

Yeah I'm not bothered at all by 30 vs. 60fps personally. As long as it's stable I don't care and the demo for this was stable enough I didn't notice.

I opt for 30fps with better graphics in games like Miles Morales on PS5 (fidelity mode) and Cyberpunk on XSX (quality mode) even. To each their own and all that. My eyes just aren't very sensitive to frame rates unless the drops are really bad. Even the 120 fps stuff I struggle to see much difference.

I'm sure I'd notice things more if I could do a full on side by side comparison, but I've honestly just never given much of a shit about FPS or A/V quality stuff in general and always been a a "meh, it's good enough" kind of person. Graphics have never been a huge selling point to me, I can enjoy a movie on cable or DVD just as much as a Blu-ray or UHD, enjoy music on cheap headphones just fine etc. The tech/image/sound quality side of things has just never mattered much to me or enhanced or hindered my enjoyment of content much. As long as there isn't terrible frame drops or static in the picture or audio I'm good to go for the most part.

The fact that we play bloodborne on ps4 doens't mean that we are not pissed off about the performances or that we don't notice crappy unstable 30 fps.

I played 200+ hours on mhw on ps4 but i still bought the pc version and sinked another 200 hours because it feels much better, and it would be the same with bloodborne or any beloved action game at 30 fps on console.
