Woman tries to vote twice

nvestigators today arrested a Southern Nevada woman suspected of trying to vote twice this week at two different polling locations.

Roxanne Rubin was taken into custody as she arrived for work at the Riviera hotel-casino, investigators said. Rubin, 56, is a registered Republican who lives in Henderson, according to the Clark County Registrar.

Poll Worker fills in straight Republican ticket for blank ballots

Sources familiar with the incident say their understanding is that the woman filled in a straight Republican ticket on the ballots where preferences had been left blank by voters.

But its Democrats who always steal the elections. Damn it.

I thought this was going to be a thread about some kind of systemic republican effort to rig the election, but it turns out it's just some random woman accused of voting twice. Is this thread worthy? I am so fucking sick of hearing about this election. Can we have some sort of republican bashing megathread to keep the thread count down?

Just don't go into the threads?

I think it's a bit comical that we heard about all this voter fraud from blustery Republicans and it turns out them and their followers are the ones committing it, or getting caught at least.

Fuckin L.O.L

So you didn't read the second half of the post then.

And this investigation in Virginia expands:

A former employee of Strategic Allied Consulting, a contractor for the Republican Party of Virginia, had been scheduled to appear last Tuesday before a grand jury after he was charged with tossing completed registration forms into a recycling bin. But state prosecutors canceled Colin Small’s grand jury testimony to gather more information, with their focus expanding to the firm that had employed Small, which is led by longtime GOP operative Nathan Sproul.

Sproul is a piece of shit. Put him in jail for the next 2-3 elections.

One could say that Republicans were so desperate to prove that voter fraud existed that they started to do it.

But I thought voter fraud didn't exist? That's what you guys have been saying for years.

Who said that and where?

The sensible conclusion from the last blowup over voter fraud is that it exists but that the recent state laws requiring ID to vote were at best implemented too close to an election to give everyone a fighting chance at acquiring said IDs and at worst a cynical disenfranchisement of poor people and immigrants. It didn't help the GOP's case that the type of voter fraud (in person fraud) being combated by voter ID laws is rare and inconsequential.

Shockingly, existing laws cover cases of people attempting to vote twice or stuff ballot boxes.

I'd go on but it's clear you're just trying to pick some kind of fight with a strawman. Have at it.

"they" said it. And don't try to deny it.

Our voting system is a mess. I think we can all agree with that. I'd like to see some type of uniformity in the National election. And I think most of us can agree that we need to get rid of early voting.

Ironic isn't it? We just had a thread with pages filled with "Voter fraud is nothing but a GOP conspiracy to suppress voters blah blah blah".
That's what I'm talking about. Stop complaining about something that doesn't exist, people.

Why do you support it? Why not late voting for the people who forgot?

I support it because not everyone is able to stand in line for hours on end to cast a ballot. Voting early ensures that more people are able to get out and participate in our democracy.

Why do you not support it?

What if something happens in the last few weeks of an election? Perhaps Romney took some time off from punching babies to rob a liquor store. People can't take their vote back.

Also, I like the idea of a voting day where a nation can get together and cast their ballots together and feel a sense of unity while we split our votes 50/50.

Especially with people living busy lives. The fact that voting election day is not national holiday is ridiculous.

Are you able to take your vote back anyways?

Let's be honest, both parties are responsible for shit, but the Republican party is order of magnitude more shady and unscrupulous. As I said before, I get worried when the GOP accuse others of voter fraud, because generally it means they're up to it themselves.

Once again nib95, you can't prove that. an "order of magnitude"? 10x more? I want proof

Are you able to take your vote back anyways?

I've never needed to. I vote Republican every time and I'm happy with it.

guy the issue isn't widespread enough for it to be a good idea to implement any kind of voter ID law

it's least that's what gaf has been saying for the past year or so

Yea, screw the working class. Something vague, somewhere unknown and at an unspecific time might happen. The very fabric of our nation is at stake people.

Yeah this is weird. GAFs issues with the GOP is trying to combat voter fraud.

But apparently it's always them who commit it.

So the GOP is actively working to combat itself. And this is a bad thing. Huh.

That's not a good reason to abolish early voting. Perhaps early voters should be encouraged to give more weight to their decision since there are no amended ballots or take-backs, but this is a risk shared by absentee voters. Would you abolish that as well?

Should we be able to vote 2 months before election day?
The fabric of our nation used to be satin. Under Obama, it's burlap.

Absentee voters have a better excuse.

I don't see anything wrong with having to flash an ID or something like that when showing up to vote.

In regards to these past few weeks of reported fraud though how do stricter voter ID laws stop these type of frauds? (throwing registration forms in bins, people filling in empty spots on ballots and getting poll workers to feed false information)

Oh you're slippin' there. You should have put Hemp not burlap.

As far as I can tell, voter ID would not have prevented either of these cases.
