Morpheus murdered in The Matrix Online...

Yes, Mala! Finally someone acknowledges my mention of Abyss after like five years of random GAF UO rants.

Sigh, how I miss castle sieges, hating on the black team, oh and the energy vortex spell. Energy vortex for fucking life, comedy gold, best spell ever.

Haha, Vortex owned. Man oh man I miss Abyss, it was so fun. Why can't someone recreate this? :(

Throwing vortexs and blade spirits in a bunch of ennemies was hilarious :lol

I just dont understand why EA doesnt release a classic UO, there is obviously a market for it. I guess it would be admiting they fucked up their own game though.

Because EA hates us. :( Seriously, they absolutely DESTROYED that game in order to make it newbie friendly. THEN turned around and fucked up the charming 2D visuals for gut wrenching blocky 3D on top of it. EA has no idea what made UO tick and with Origin gone, that dream died long ago.

Having the promise of the "permanent abyss server" resurface as a lameass plain jane hard mode server and the addition of trammel are probably the two most depressing game related things ever for me.

Oh well, vendor buy the bank some guards, corp por, kal vas flam and all that jazz, RIP UO.

Errr... isn't the entire point of alpha/beta testing to FIND exploits and bugs? One would think that if an exploit was found in beta that end-user players shouldn't be able to use, they woud--y'know--block the exploit. Rather than shooting the messenger.

I used to code for a MUD, and there were a couple players that were my biggest assets because they had a knack for breaking the game.

From what I garnered from Origin's response, he was using the same exploits after they told him numerous times to stop (assuming Origin hadn't gotten around to fixing them yet), thus he was not fulfilling his beta test agreement and disrupting others during their testing. Sure, they probably should have fixed it ASAP, but maybe a quick patch wasn't a viable solution.

Haha, man, UO is probably the only game I have any nostalgia for. I can still hear the login screen MIDI theme in the back of my head. :p

Didn't some remnants of OSI form a new team or something? I haven't heard anything out of that in a long time.

Yeah, same here. I have a lot of nostalgia for UO and some for the first few weeks/months of Everquest. I don't think another game will ever make me feel what I've felt back then for these games.

I wish I could have tried UO. I didn't think my connection would hold up while playing it (no cable modem, at the time).

I didn't have any problems on my server (Pacific) back when I played. On a 33.6k connection as well.

Yep, same here. I had a 33kpbs modem and then played on a 52kbps modem. UO wasn't all that demanding as far as system requirements were concerned.

I just noticed that Tabula Rasa site has a little snippet of Starr Longs view of what happened.

I was playing Blackthorn in UO alongside Lord British (Richard Garriott). It was near the end of the Beta test and we were giving a tour of the land with stops in various cities to give speeches. When we would do events like these we would usually make ourselves invulnerable but this state did not persist past that particular login so you had to reset this flag each time you logged in. During one of the stops the server crashed because there were so many people crowded around trying to see us. When we logged back in Richard forgot to make his character, Lord British, invulnerable. We started giving the speech and one of the players cast a field of fire at our feet. I was invulnerable so I just laughed at the crowd and said something stupid like “Is that the best you can do?” Richard of course wanted to play along as well and ran into the fire field, and promptly died. I got upset and started summoning demons in the crowd and saying more stupid things like “How dare you!” It was an amazing example of how the players were much more in control of this experience than us, the game creators.

2. Trying to find ways to screw me over to the public, I dont know what you got against me, but I will resolve this either by making your life hell or having a GM keep tabs on your ass.

It was probably taken when I was afk to go brush my teeth and take my contacts out before I go into vendor mode and go to bed. Use some common sense lol.

Regardless, I sent the Moderator a PM, hopefully he will track down this person IP, and ban em from the community board, this is afterall a harrassment issue and accordin

to my friends, he should be punished for it by the board. Probably the reason he isnt posting is due to just that and its already been done. I just hope I find out who this

little child is so I can make sure he wont have fun in this server ever again.

:lol :lol

I seek revenge cuz accusing me of this atrocity is against my honor code and

chasing me to harrass me as well I gotta warn ya buddy, I got many many people on this server who likes me and appreciates the things I do for them and knows im a perfectly

nice guy. If you so much as try to say stuff bout me and any of them find out they will jump on you like a pack of wolves

:lol :lol :lol

What's funny is almost the exact same thing happened in FFXI and he got laughed off that game and went to EQII where he got caught again... :lol :lol

Anyone record that, and post new quotes from the guy trying to blame others :lol ? If so, link?

No, because of the retarded way FFXI takes screenshots they couldn't get the text quickly.

U can still play classic UO on free servers :) Tempted to give it a go again. Despite all the crap that appeared as UO aged there was some nice stuff to like runebooks new houses etc

The best (meaning the one with the most players and proper execution of the old-school rules), In Por Ylem, was taken down (because psycho people, apparently). I've tried other free shards, but nothing even comes close :(
