Mortal Kombat 2 trailer new

I actually loved the first half of this movie because it basically goes straight into the tournament once its done introducing new characters. I haven't played MKII in like 20+ years but seeing some stages recreated in live-action was a rush of nostalgia. The Dead Pool scene was awesome, especially because it killed off that shitty OC from the first movie.

As for the second half of the movie... once the movie introduces the pendant, the plot becomes a lot less interesting in my opinion. The tournament scenes are still good but the detour to find the pendant where they recruit the help of a silly Marvelesque Baraka was a bit much for me. Also the finale girlbosses a little too hard... I'd elaborate but I'm sure there will be many reasonable and measured discussions about that in the days to come.

So yeah overall I think it's pretty good but I wasn't crazy about the second half. Still, it's much better than the first movie.

Also Ed Boon makes a neat cameo

The pendant makes Shao Khan look like a bitch.

he would have been killed by Cole, Sonya and Lui Kang (Lui Kang alone killed him like 4 times) if not for it. Makes him look like a weakling rather than some big boss that he should be.

Liu Kang got done dirty, alls I'm saying.
I don't know, I think they made him pretty cool, and
he's clearly coming back for the third one.

Shao Kahn is the only person who was done dirty I think, he was jobbered by several people in this flick lol. Thank goodness for God mode cheats ;)

To answer the question, it wasn't shown, nobody knows.

Truthfully I'm more interested in Street Fighter, I was never really into Mortal Kombat. I always prefered the character designs and tone to Mortal Kombat

I'm gonna to wait for this sequel to come to streaming/VOD so I can watch all the movies back to back (Yes I'm including the 90s films too)

Questions: How does the film handle the return of the deceased characters from the first film? Kung Lao is a "revenant," I've read. I'm unfamiliar with this concept in MK - I checked out of the games after no. 3 (I'm old), so educate me if this is a thing brought over to the films. How is Kano back? Same thing? Does Goro return? He was wasted in the first one.

Light spoiler question

Did i miss how Kitaras mom died? She kneels in the beginning, then next you really see her she is a zombie fighting Sonja.

yea they never explain how she died the first time. I think the writers just looked over her bio and saw her character is that she's already a dead mind controlled character and just threw her in as that[/ISPOILER]

Quan Chi resurrects them both. Only Kung Lao is brought back as revenant. There's some silly passing comment about not making Kano a revenant because he wasn't important enough for them to bother putting in the effort.

Who would be the boss of the 3rd?

Yeah it sucks they didn't utilize Shang Tsung. He was pointless in this movie.
Creators have said "they have a plan for Shinnok", so he's definitely in the pipeline.
They also said Shang Tsung will have a much bigger part in the 3rd movie. He may be the main villain of that one.

Onaga and Kronika will probably be used at some point too. I can't imagine them trying to do Blaze.

I really hope you're wrong about Onaga and Kronika, these films will not benefit from D list villains like that, and they're only planning a trilogy, so I don't see why they'd need more than Shinnok and maybe Kintaro and Motaro. Maaaaayyyyybbbeee Tanya if we're just desperate for villains, but I don't see a need for Onaga or Kronika at all.

Joe Taslim is contracted for 5 Mortal Kombat movies. I think, depending on success, they're planning on going the full length with this franchise.

They're even toying with the idea of spin-off movies. Like Shaolin Monks and Special Forces.

Oh shit, I kept seeing trilogy and figured that's all we're getting, so egg on my face.

In that case, yeah, we're almost certainly getting Onaga and Kronika....what a shame :/. I simply don't see a way to make them cool in a film.

Maybe Kronika, somehow, with really good casting, but absolutely not Onaga. That is gonna be corny as hell lol, but I'll be thrilled to be wrong.

Well, with three more films, we'll almost certainly get Kintaro and Motaro at some point, so that's good. Maybe Drahmin and the other fella, Molok?, whatever his name was, they'll probably show up as minions at some point, so that'll be cool.

I think Devorah and Kotal Kahn could translate well to film, hoping to see them make it at some point.

Fuck yeah, Kotal is my favourite of the reboot era. I hope he gets a satisfying adaptation.

MKX introduced a bunch of great characters.

I think MKX was the high mark of the series in terms of narration, vibe, art style, though not necessarily execution, but yeah, MK X is fucking great and I don't know why it isn't one of the more hallowed MK titles for most MK fans. Incredible roster too, one of the most interesting in fighting game history in my opinion.

Agreed. If it had MK11's beautiful fight choreography and ditched the QTE then it'd take the cake as the best Story Mode in the franchise for me.

the movie was entertaining but still not "good" imo. The 1995 film is maybe a bit corny but it's great. It feels tangible, the characters are believable, and the deaths feel consequential.

This film and its predecessor don't feel tangible. You always feel like you're on a movie set. The characters have no real pathos. Characters are slaughtered but nothing feels dangerous.

That said, this film just barely squeaks by on reverence for the series and some decent action choreography. I enjoyed my time with it and will give the next one a chance as well.

They might have cut it for time

For me I thoroughly enjoyed Johnny Cage, l am fan Karl Urban & he nail it as a washed up Cage

Saw it tonight. better than Mortal Kombat 2021? yes, but that is not really saying a lot given how many opportunities that movie wasted. It is amazing how much of that first movie was erased with Mortal Kombat II. I mean, just flat out 'erased'. By that, yeah I mean Cole Young. Mortal Kombat '21 is like the Street Fighter 1 (the original 1987 game, I mean) of fighting game movies. Mortal Kombat II literally is: "Fuck it, clean slate". With the exception a a few necromanced characters..

But with that said, I am still disappointed that they wasted Goro in the original movie without even a hint that he was not dead and could return in MKII. I'd be happy with a Sheeva substitute to replace Goro. he would have been a much better movie in this sequel if they shifted a few plot points around. My biggest complaint is really the slight over exposition on random things. It felt like I was listening to someone spout off a Wikipedia article. I can get the exposition being there the odd time.

The last Mortal Kombat that I really put any time in was MKX. With some MK11. At no point did I feel lost with anything. I mean, some of the plot points felt a little rushed in. I was honestly surprised to see Shang Tsung just chilling in the background doing nothing for the majority of the movie and he just shows up in the third act. Clearly the director is saving him for a potential part three.

Karl Urban is alright as Cage, To be honest, he had the least stifled dialogue. A lot of character again, just speak in too much exposition. Weirdly Baraka was one of the better moments. Unexpected. really the third time Quan Chi appeared in a live action Mortal Kombat production. The first time was the short lives live action TV series MK: Conquest. The second time was Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero, and now this is the live action version. Maybe one of the better characters. Kano added another comedic layer to Johnny Cage.

The soundtrack wasn't particularly memorable, It's alright and trying to go more theatrical. Glad I can say that I saw it. In all fairness, I still prefer the 1995 movie... because of course I do.

Woketards and Hollywood morons have made everything so fucking boring and generic. You can even see from a mile away when they're trying to be edgy even though they're really, really bad at it now

The movie just wasn't fun, mostly because none of the characters were really likeable or charismatic, even the actors I really like, like Karl Urban or Hiroyuki Sanada seemed kind of dull in this. It felt like a Marvel movie that was trying too hard to be edgy with excessive CGI violence

I've been watching recent interviews with the original cast of the 1995 film - Robin Shou and Linden Ashby and it's been really heartwarming for me. These guys have great chemistry together after all this time and I must have watched that movie 30 times so it's great to see.

Pretty easy to find on YouTube. The new films are cool but that original really was special.

I feel like this, Street Fighter movie, and Resident Evil are all looking fun. Never thought so many game movies would be worth watching at the movies in the same year.

I was there yesterday and… well. I'll generously give it a 6/10. Sub-Zero was a disappointment, where was my damn ice? I didn't want Noob Saibot. And Jade? Omg, what a miscast. She looked like that bald goblin from the new Naughty Dog game.

no he was dead, what did you expect? bi han always dies and becomes noob; there's not going to be another sub-zero until another ninja takes up the mantle, last thing this movie needed was slogging the pace down with another origin story for sub-zero #2
Forgive me, i'm not that deep into MK lore. Sub-Zero is my favorite fighter and when I heard the name, i was just really excited to see my Ice Man.

I can't WAIT for the Arrow 4K of the 1995 Mortal Kombat. Such a fun film. Still the best Shang Tsung. And the Scorpion/Cage fight is one of my all-time faves, wonky-ass CGI and all.

1995 cgi was a bit wonky now. And no special fancy moves cgi like the new movie but it was like an actual movie.

After MK III comes out. Maybe someone can cut/splice all 3 together into one cohesive movie.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa just owned that role. Took it as seriously as anyone could, for a movie based on a game. And then seeing and hearing him in MK11 -- that was so cool.
