Found these at:

MK Shaolin Midway Forum

The Demo was fun, I am so looking forward to this game :)

ME TOO!!!! I think it will be a ton of fun.....co-op mode too.......mmmmm grrrrr *goes watches intro for the 10 million time*

Sonya looks nothing like she did in MK1. Kano looks cool though. His eye is even more Terminator looking than usual.

All these MK topics are getting me interested in the series again. This is the best thing about SM coming out, MK topics on GAF.

I know what you mean....the past week ive been playing Deception again waiting for Shaolin Monks

Sonia looked like a fitness instructer in MK1, so a redesign was in order. Too bad they fucked that up. WTF is with the "thong sticking out of pants" look? Save that shit for strippers , not special op commandoes on covert missions. Did they get horny 13 year old boys to do the character designs?

Have you already seen the designs for the females in MK this generation?!

It's probably all horny teenagers.

Man, if anything that's them being conservative....yeah, that bikini style bottom for Mileena in Deception sure didn't allow all that pesky clothing to get in the way. LOL

Not horny 13 year olds, just straight guys with a normal sex drive.

Agreed. And speaking as one of those guys, I approve of this design, at least from the neck down. :) (I really wish they hadn't given her the face of a pissed-off soccer mom, though. =/ )

If I was Midway, I would get a better character artist. Those renders sucks and I've seen better character art than that.

If anything I could say, Midway should hire Namco's character artist as they do a better job with the character art for in-game and renders

Why are they even still making MK games?

Because it's one of the most successful fighting game franchises and it basically keeps Midway alive.

Or maybe they make them just to piss you off.

Quick question: Will these be possible next-gen(in-game)?
Could they be possible? Easily, especially coupled with those "background stages".

Will they actually do it? Nope.

I don't care what they say, if this game is supposed to happen right after MK, they should be wearing their MK1 garb. Scorpion did not look like that MK1.

Eh, MK1 had really cheap looking garbs anyway. The ones in MK the movie were pretty sweet renditions, shame about Annilation, even the costumes looked cheap.

True, but I think they consider the old outfits to be too plain and boring. They were never happy with the detail on them because of their low budget. Besides compared to some of the other retons in this the outfit thing is minor. Kung Lao hanging out in MK1? what?

Also, was Sub-Zero #1 good? I always thought he was more of a bad guy, and his brother was good.

The first one was more the along the lines of being indifferent, but was considered more ruthless and the younger brother was clearly more merciful and good.

He was a ruthless assassin and killed Scorpion(who was asking for mercy). So as a murderer I guess he'd be evil by human standards. But when he accidently helped Shinnok get his amulet back he did go into the Neatherrealm and stop him from taking over the world. When talking to Raiden he asked if he was evil and if his soul was tainted. Raiden said yes, but he had the potential to do good and change. He never got the chance though, since he would die in the shaolin tournament and become Noob Saibot.

The brother is an assassin, but is more merciful. When Kahn invaded he was a chosen warrior for Earth and has been part of team Raiden since.

Had the older brother survived he probably would have helped the good guys. In MK the lines between good and evil are kind of blurred since it's a battle for the entire world. Like with Jarek, who is a criminal but helped Sonya & Jax when the world was at stake. Unlike Kano, who is so evil he betrayed his own planet.

Deep insight man. I wish I could bare through MK:Mythologies to learn these things about him :lol

Indeed. The story is the only good thing about MKM. Most of what we know about Sub 1 is from MKM. He went from being just a straight villain to kind of an anti-hero in that. MKM does a really good job of setting up MK4 and Shinnok as the new villain.

Special Forces on the other hand is just plain awful.

LOL! I think it's the latter actually. :lol PEACE.

Yes this is what next-gen fighting games WILL look like.

I'm talking about Midway and the MK series, which is what the question was about originally.

My answer stands....

they sure made Sonya ugly as fuck didnt they
Sonya's never been hot. Funny, because as a teen i would've fapped to just about any hand drawn femme fighter before Sonya, who was (at the time) played by an actual person.

The new Sonya looks like Leeza Gibbons.

Concept art for Kintaro. Good to know he's in since the MK team doesn't seem to like him much and he hasn't made a real appearance since II. Hopefully they'll go deeper into his story. Despite being a boss he's one of the least developed characters in the entire series. He has almost no backstory, no ties to anyone else and no real relevance. You could remove him from MK II and the story wouldn't change a bit. He serves no other purpose than to be a token henchmen for Kahn. It'd also be nice to find out what happened to him in II. His fate is one of the bigger mysteries since he just disapeared after II.

I always liked him. He seemed a lot stronger than Goro and the tiger strips were cool. I liked how the crowd would cheer whenever he knocked you down. He just seemed more interesting than Goro, who I've never been a big fan of. Yet Goro keeps returning and Kintaro is just gone. I like Motaro too. Too bad he's dead.

Hmm.. I always figured that he was killed by the official winner of the 2nd tournament. Which of course was... *cue Anyanka* :p

There's been two mentions of Kintaro since II. In Thresholds ultimate guide to MK CD-Rom it says Raiden vaporized him in the second tournament. Makes sense, but the source is questionable at best. Then in Deception's Konquest there's an Outworld soldier chilling out in Edenia that says Kintaro is leading the latest invasion there, which would mean he survived MK II. Konquest mode isn't a good source either though. So basically there's two dubious sources that contradict each other.

IMO he probably just got fired or demoted after losing in II. Usually if someone is just not mentioned it means they're not dead, just hanging out somewhere doing nothing until they're ready to put them back in a game. Since Kahn lost faith in the shokans and promoted the centuars in MK3 Kintaro would be out of a job.

Sadly we really don't know who won MK II. You'd think that would be a pretty important story detail but they've always been really vague about it. MK3 just says Liu Kang has foiled Kahn's plans in the past and escaped from Outworld but it never specifically says he won. Many theorize that nobody won MK II, that Kahn simply called it off near the end and chased the good guys off. I don't really buy that though, because some time had to pass between II and 3 and Liu & Kung Lao were shocked when Kahn invaded Earth. You'd think if Kahn had just ran everyone off they'd be expecting him to return.

If anyone won it'd be Liu. I'd like to think thats what happened, but that's just because the whole "the tourney never ended" thing sounds lame to me.

I am honestly loving every single minute of this constant talk regarding the MK backstory. Its making me interested in the series again.

And I sorta like the expression on Sonya's face. Not how it looks but the expression.

Anyanka,
If someone was to win the second tournament I figured it would've been Liu as well. But I totally agree, the tourney never ended excuse sounds horrible.

Even having no proof to confirm it, I just feel that Kintaro died during or as a result of things happening during the tournament. But if there really is no confirmation I guess they can bring him back with whatever backstory they want. That said, my memory of Deception's Konquest is funny at best, so I don't remember him being mentioned. :/

I always thought that the winner of MKII was Shao Kahn. His victory let him invade the Earth Realm in MK III.
But.. but.. the movie.. the dragon tattoos!

So this is a beat em up and not some RPG like Sub Zero? Also is this online?
