I dont think a show or movie has ever handled death as well as Buffy did with "The Body"

This is by far one of the best in recent memory.

Followed by this,

Florence Pugh in Midsommar
Probably the best i have ever seen
Gave me chills and reminded me of family members crying at funerals. It immediately gave me flashbacks to seeing my mom crying intensely when my dad passed away.

Great film and an excellent performance overall. One of the best in the business right now IMHO.
And then this.
Toni Collette in Hereditary after THAT happens. Sounded raw, real, and absolutely gut-wrenching. She should've won an Oscar but didn't. Maybe because it wasn't a "showy" performance

There was a Kerri Russell scene in The Americans when she was crying and snot was coming out of her nose. Was thinking. That’s tough to fake.

Not sure if this counts as crying since it was raining in the scene and you could barely tell, but that overwhelming look of sadness, emptiness, despair, and loneliness he had was really striking and very relatable to many people:

To me it seemed more realistic(if it counts) than other famous scenes out there because many people tend to hold it in rather than let it out.

Adam Sandler in Reign Over Me. The buildup to that scene was very powerful and hit me hard.

Starts after 3:00

Tom Hanks is one of the GOAwhat?

This scene stayed with me for YEARS. Still remember seeing it vividly. Incredible.

That being said Viola Davis pretty much has a monopoly on crying scenes
Cuts directly to your soul every time. It could be over spilt milk and you'll want cry with her. Every movie. Fences, that one she had a minor scene in, woman king, etc.

If anyone ever saw saving mr. Banks theres a crying scene at the end in a theater that is pretty darn well done too. Perfectly recreates crying in a theater

SlimySnake

Flashless at the Golden Globes
She had this great crying scene in Manchester by the sea too. The way she says "my heart was broken!" hits hard.

Only time a crying scene made on hold back crying. And this was in the theater too. Simply holding back my tears was an oscar worthy performance from me.

Kim in Better Call Saul did a phenomenal job but i was like yes, thats a great acting performance. it didnt break me emotionally like Michelle Williams in Manchester By the Sea.

I don't think I've ever been as upset at a movie than when I rewatched the intro only to find out the vengeful boyfriend brutally killed the wrong man as the vile rapist slipped away. :messenger_pouting:

The scene where Negan is introduced in The Walking Dead, is an all around incredibly well acted moment, but the actress playing Megan does a fantastic job in particular.
Really gripping stuff.
