Motor Storm pics for(PS3)

Jesus Christ. You saw what they did porting the UE3 engine over to the PS3 in 2 months, right? They definitely controlled that realtime. What makes you think they would cheat with the other stuff? It's realtime Just b/c PD0 and DOA4 started us off limp doesn't mean the next-gen is going to be that underwhelming. Personally, I'm holding everything to Killzone2 standards now. If I don't get that in realtime, I'm suing. PEACE.

I messed with levels a little bit. Anyways ... just some stuff that stood out to me.

As for motion blur I know for a fact that some techniques can do it in a single pass (see: c4d, motion blur tag) although with a resulting IQ loss.

In the video of that game there was even a scene where the camara was following the car from behind (Looked very much like an in game GAMEPLAY shot).

And it looked far less impressive than all the other crazy shots. And that's precisely why they put them in there to make you think it's ENTIRELY gameplay. It's a very common technique used in marketing, just so you know.

No it didn't. I'd be happy with that gameplay with some cutouts to the crashes. This is just like burnout on a larger scale.

The mud splatter looks realtime too, because it looks a bit unnatural...unless the 3D software they used had some nasty particle generator effects.

Dammit, after seeing that video, I was pretty damn sure that was pre-rendered. Almost certain. Now with these screens there's hardly any doubt it's actually realtime. Small things tip it off here and there. Amazing stuff really. This, and KZ2 video were highlights of the show. KZ2 I still think it's pre-rendered. Has to be. It pretty much puts to shame even all the Unreal 3 engine stuff I've seen thus far, and I have trouble believing Guerilla are THAT good.

Several PS2 games do motion blur realtime fuck even PSX did motion blur.
Not of this kind Gek. This is a very nicely faked temporal motion blur (the kind that is used in prerendered anims). In motion it had me completely fooled. These static screens reveal that it's actually not the same quality as if it would be if it was prerendered.

I agree, but seeing that this racer is realtime is the most positive surprise of the show, IMO. I was actually more certain that this was pre-rendered than I am about KZ2.

One of the 720p KZ2 screens shows a fakey looking temporal motion blur kinda like this here. But the image quality looks perect, too perfect... Then again, that perfectness might come from scaling the original imperfect looking 1080p images to 720p. Same thing that I've noticed with Killing Day pics.

Oh, and Tekken 6 demo - does anyone have a proof that was realtime? I have a very hard time believing it for that one too, even though it's just one character.

look at the bullbar on the BIG FRONT YELLOW TRUCK. LOOK AT IT. JAGGIES. This isn't CG

PS3 POWAH!!!!!

I saw the pics before I saw the video - which is why I am convinced its all real time.

Forget the jaggies, they say nothing to me other than "We couldn't find any hi-res shots to give you so we've blown a few of the smaller pics up" - They are no more an indicator of Motor Storms current tech than they are an indicator of the PS3's inability to anti-alias.

I think you can fairly easily see gameplay footage, theres about 10-15 seconds total where the camera is fixed at the "3/4's and above a bit" typical position for an arcade racer, and that footage is sweet-as-honey enough without dreaming that every second is realtime.

In fact forget the graphics altogether, This game looks like Burnout and the Paris Dakar Rally had a child and named him Mad Max to me, Mud, Buggies, Bikes, Quads, more mud, crashes, jumps, more mud, more crashes and a whole hell of a package of fun gameplay.

I don't want to anticipate this, seems too good to be true for my gaming tastes and certainly too far away for such anticipation to be anything other than painful.

That's not the case. The jaggy pixels are clearly one pixel in size, no upscaling can result in such clean pixels.
