Early Impressions:
Contacts have seen the new Motorola Android Phone, and all feel the phone is extremely well designed, and probably may be a winner. Contacts tell us that it is slimmer than iPhone, capacitive touch screen seems more precise than iPhone and feels faster than iPhone. The native processing of code on Motorola is much faster than anything out there.

These two Motorola Android-based phones are rumored to be Verizon's first Android phones. PLEASE be true.

Is anyone doing a liveblog of the keynote?

Also, at least one of the phones unveiled today will be for T-Mobile.

I'm looking and haven't found one yet. And I'm anticipating any good T-Mo Moto-droid.

I really really hope Verizon jumps on this! Motorola and VZ have had a long-standing relationship. Let's GO already!

Yeah, it's probably too late for me now that I ordered the myTouch, but for just $100, it's cheap, and should be fun to bash around in while I get used to Android. Then I can anticipate Rachael like everyone else. :D PEACE.

Please do not end your posts with "PEACE". I'm pretty sure that's a Don't in the NeoGAF TOS for being annoying as hell.

Thinner than the iPhone. Why does everything have to be so damn thin, every time i pick up an iPhone, i'm half afraid i'll break it.

The CEO just said the keynote is about one Android smartphone (the T-Mobile one) and that in the coming weeks they will unveil another (Sholes for Verizon, I'm guessing).

10:35AM "In the coming weeks, I'll be showing with you a second device" that'll be available in time for the holiday season! The Sholes, maybe?

Man! Is this why the Verizon rep isn't there?! I'm upset now!

Phone is currently blacked out! What's it looooook like!

Edit: Apparently, MotoBlur is the phone, not the UI!

I think you had it right the first time. I believe it's a feature packed into the UI.

You're right. It's the UI. I must say, the UI looks slick. I may like it more than HTC Sense.

T-Mobile has taken the stage. The Motorola Click unveiled. QWERTY keyboard confirmed.

Note: Exclusive to T-Mobile.

Well, at least Verizon users know they're getting something in time for Holiday 09. Cannot wait for that.

Release date is a vague 4th quarter, before the holidays.

Two colors: Winter Winter and Titanium.

5 megapixel camera. Video recording, 30 fps. Standard headphone jack (bye, bye G1). Exchange support.

Available around the world by several providers, including Orange UK.

So let's see... AT&T has the iPhone, T-Mobile has the HTC Android phones and now the Motorola Android Phones, Sprint has the Pre.

What the hell VZ?!

How do all these custom UIs mesh with Android updates? Is it possible they'll lag behind mainline Android at some point?

It has been possible with the current Android phones to "shed" the custom UI (HTC Sense) and run a vanilla, standard build of Android.

The full QWERTY keyboard is a big deal for me. I love my G1, and the awesome keyboard is a big reason why. I hate touchscreen keyboards.

Remember the initial reports called it thinner than the iPhone? Pshh... that looks like two iPhones stacked on top of each other.

Engadget says 24fps?

Blackberry Storm and Storm 2 coming.

It looks sturdy, maybe it's thinner than the couch shot shows. So this Click looks like the fun phone Motorola has been working on.

I hope Sholes doesn't isn't a "serious" business natured phone for Verizon.

The Click looks really nice... Wanting to get an Android phone now and since I'm in the US, I think the G1 and the touch screen successor are the only options I have right now unfortunately. If this were out now, it'd be an option.

Man I'm so happy I switched to tmobile last year. They been getting the cream of the crop when it comes to android devices.

They've been getting the only Android devices. Sprint has the "cream of the crop" with the Hero.

I would switch back to T-Mobile in a heartbeat if they would make an effort to improve their service range. Even if Verizon has the worst phones, they far and away have the best service in my area.

*Despite the MSM7201a core, the UI is definitely faster than any factory ROM we've used before on any Android device. A good test of this is to quickly swipe open the app drawer -- the action's smooth on the CLIQ, whereas most Magic ROMs would stutter.

*The screen is glass capacitive, and it feels that way. There's no "give" like you've got on a G1 or Magic, for example.

*Expanding on the glass screen, the device feels absolutely fantastic overall. Through Motorola's thick and thin, you've got to admit that the company has a reputation for building ridiculously rock-solid phones, and we're pleased to say that the trend is continuing with the CLIQ. Pictures don't do it justice -- the white model looks particularly cheap at a glance -- but in the hand, it feels like it's fashioned from a solid block of metal.

*The camera button has a focus detent, which makes it a heck of a lot easier to properly harness the power of your 5 megapixel autofocus optics. The jury's still out on photo quality, but it seems promising and focusing is relatively quick (though our disappointment in QVGA 24fps video still runs pretty deep).

*This probably blew Google's mind, but MOTOBLUR has five home screen panels along with a small indicator similar to the iPhone's to show you which one you're currently on. Who knew that someone might want more than three?

*The keyboard feels great. Truly stellar, actually -- and we don't think there's much room for complaints about layout, unless you're really into the dedicated horizontal number row.

Wow, I can't wait for the Sholes now. Good job Motorola!

Wow that looks very nice. Are their any details on the hardware they're using? Is it a similar to the chipset in the G1 and MyTouch?

Apparently, it has the same processor as the G1, but also more ram (256 vs. the G1's 192) and a larger flash rom (512MB vs. the G1's 256, which is believed to be the reason that the G1 may not receive newer builds of Android).

As someone else said, it's the HTC Hero with a little less ram and a QWERTY keyboard, which is great for those of us that dislike touch-only phones. Also, many people have reported that Android runs silky smooth on it, so they must be optimizing it to some except for MotoBlur.

Ugh. I love the fact that we're seeing all these andriod phones but I hate that they all are using the same chipset. I would like something with a little more 3D power for games and such.
