Troy was your conventional Hollywood movie about ancient Greece. And I thought that that movie wasn't very good at all, mediocre at best and pretty poor at worst... it just couldn't decide what it wanted to be ("realistic" or following the myths), and it didn't work as a result.

Well, the manufacturing of a death for Agamemnonreally disgusted me. Brad Pitt also managed to create an Achilles utterly lacking in grandeur, which is quite something. I just hope that it doesn't deter other, more talented film-makers from approaching the subject.

But why would I waste 88 minutes on this mild entertainment, when I can enjoy the vastly superior Beverly Hills Ninja?

Beverly Hills Ninja was also good, but c'mon man. Kung Pow was better. :lol At least to me anyway. I love both of them.

I just wish I had seen Kung Pow at the theaters. Man that would have been an amazing experience. lolol

One of the coolest (and perhaps creepiest) flicks ever made. It's pure, unadulterated win.

Yes, my friends use this as exhibit A as to why I'm never allowed to pick a movie for the gang.
I feel your pain. I can't even get anyone to watch it! Great film though, so eerie (and yet hilarious).

*That was really... sneaky* Great!

Mallrats. Funny as shit if you've ever worked retail in a goddamned shopping mall.

I love this film and really don't get the hate - yeah, it was a total departure from Clerks in terms of the budget, the script and how it was filmed, but to say it's a bad movie is just wrong. To me, Mallrats is showing every 90's teen comedy movie exactly how things should be done, with an added dose of classic Kevin Smith dialogue. While not as good as Clerks and Chasing Amy, Mallrats is definetly one of Smith's best in my eyes.

I love the Safety Dance parody near the end :lol Bio Dome has the honour of being the only Pauly Shore film I can stand to watch.

Batman Begins---with a twist

I have yet to meet somebody who watches this movie the way I used to---I watched it for one week straight, then I would take a break, and continue to routine again. After that, I would play the movie when I woke up until I needed to go to work. When I had trouble sleeping, I would play that movie to energize myself in getting ready for the day. I would also play it while I was studying or simply having it in the background.

This was the first DVD I bought, and I bought it using my last check from the job I had then.

This movie has a special place in my heart, despite the brilliance of Dark Knight.

most of you guys really fuckin' suck at this. even the op does.

rotten rating not higher than 70 = you're the only one who likes it?
a bunch of people on gaf didn't like it = you're the only one who likes it?
obscure movie = you're the only one who likes it?
weird movie = you're the only one who likes it?

most of the movies posted so far have gotten largely postitive reviews or have a rabid fanbase despite only scoring slightly above average on rt. this hardly qualifies as "movies that only you like".

here, i'll give you one:

birth (2004) - absolutely amazing in my opinion, one of my favorite movies. has a rotten rating of 39. almost everyone hated it and even the people who reviewed it more or less favorably did so with a lot of reservations and felt that it was necessary to add all sorts of disclaimers and qualifiers. i geniunely love it, not in a "so bad it's good" kind of way; i think it's an underrated, entirely misunderstood masterpiece.

and to a lesser extent:

10 things i hate about you - which i thought was very entertaining, clever and generally underrated, especially for a high school comedy. has a 56 rotten rating.

ang lee's hulk - loved it. not many people did. and again, even the critics who "liked it" were still pretty harsh on it and spent more time pointing out its flaws and defending their (not-all-that-)positive review than actually praising the movie for what it does right.

edit: almost forgot the fountain - one of my favorite movies of all time. has a 51 rotten rating :/

Howard the Duck, Lake Placid.

"Sheriff, is this the man who was killed?" *Holds up a severed big toe*
"I remember him being taller."

I can't really think of much except for stuff I love that people simply haven't seen.

Maybe Vanilla Sky. I haven't watched it in years but I loved back in the early part of the decade. It seems popular to hate that one.

Lady in the Water
It was a realistic fairytale with awesome music and art direction.
I think people were disappointed because the movie didn't show any actual magical elements.
Seriously, anyone else like this movie.

I'll concede to really liking it upon my first and only viewing, but I have a sneaking suspicion I'd be far less taken with it if I ever watched it again.

Redacted - Some people (mainly republicans) really hate this film. I think it's De Palma's best film since Carlito's Way.

The Osterman Weekend - Generally considered Peckinpah's worst film. I admit it's not a masterpiece, but it's certainly better than Killer Elite and about as good as Junior Bonner.

Miami Vice - Maybe the prettiest movie ever. Also includes the greatest shootout scene of the 00's. Part of the reason why this movie is so hated is that people were expecting something like the remake of Starsky & Hutch. Instead they got a Melvillesque crime thriller.

Sunshine - I will say that the last 15 minutes aren't as strong as the rest of it but it's still beautiful and I simply can not fault the entire movie for it. <3

Matrix Trilogy - Yes, I love Reloaded and more so Revolutions. I like to think every movie fan has that trilogy. For some it's Star Wars, others LOTR and a few, Back to The Future but for me it's The Matrix. The first film is something my uncle would let me watch with him when I was younger before he passed away and the last two came at a very strange point in my life. So yes, it means a lot to me.

30 Days of Night - Don't really have much to say on this, I just like it...a lot.

Point Break - I love this movie unironically as well. To me, this is the epitome of the PERFECT date movie. It also has some of the most amazing quiet moments in a blockbuster action film.

The Day The Earth Stood Still Remake - Yes, I like Keanu Reeves and I enjoyed this movie.

Ang Lee's Hulk - Still the best representation of Bruce Banner/Hulk outside of the tv show and comic books (though I didn't mind ed norton's hulk). The scene where Nick Nolte explains to Jennifer Connelly about his son is reason alone why this movie is fucking awesome.

Dawn of The Dead remake - It lost some of the originals social commentary but it's still a really good flick and easily Snyder's best.

Max Payne - I wish I could tell you exactly why I like this movie but I'm just gonna go with "nice cinematography."

Chronicles of Riddick - Riddick.Riddick.Riddick. I want more of him please. Also, necromungers were badass.

DOOM - Semper Fi Motherfucker.

Signs (M. Night Shyamalan) and Contact

Especially the first, everyone seems bored after they watch it, or they simply hate it

For me it's simply perfect

Alien: Resurrection and the Resident Evil movies.

I believe i'm the only person on the planet who likes them.

I legitimately liked the first RE film. The other 2? ESPECIALLY the 2nd? nope.

Ang Lee's HULK
Both Charlies Angles
Oceans 12
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Superman Returns
The Science of Sleep
28 Weeks Later

Oh and Resident Evil 1&2
3 is just terrible..

I loved this as a kid. Haven't seen it in at least 10 years tho so I can't account for why I liked it.

Also Spielberg's Hook, another childhood favourite, of which I'm not sure it counts because I've seen it praised on GAF before, but it wasn't until recently I found out it was universally panned.

I didn't mind the Mummy movies but that's largely thanks to Rachel Weisz.

I thought Rufio was a jackass, so didn't mind him getting stuck. Decent film, though. Whoever the hell they got to replace Rachel Weisz in the most recent Mummy film was unwatchable, not that anything in that film is any good.

I LOVE Dune and am consistantly amazed by how much it gets shat upon.
You need to have read the book to understand what's happening and if you've read the book you'll hate how they changed the story.

I still like it (weirding way guns excluded). It looks fantastic and the casting is pretty much perfect, great atmosphere. It's way too short though, definitely could've used another hour or two.

As for me... probably The Ninth Gate, that movie rarely gets any love.

oooh yeah that's a good one. i think everyone hates the ninth gate. i love it too. but i think even johnny depp himself hates it. haha

I don't know whether no one likes it because its a low budget new zealand film, but Stickmen is a great movie about playing pool. so simple, but a brilliant funny and entertaining film. Highly recommend watching, if you can find it.
