Looks good, curious as to how the more serious tone will hold up once they introduce the more fantastical elements (talking dragon, the ghosts, etc). I wonder if they took all the combat clips from the end of the film, or if they are going to tweak the timeline so she reveals her gender earlier in the story.

I've never seen the original Mulan toon ... But I like what I've seen so far. Even if they are using Japanese and Korean actors to play Chinese. I like the tone.. it reminds me of crouching tiger/hidden dragon. But without the love interest.

I'm looking forward to it!

Seems more Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon than Mulan tbh. In the Disney animated movie she was not some badass fighter who could take on 3-4 dudes by herself. She was not a good fighter at all in the animated movie.

Her strengths were at thinking outside the box and her leadership skills.

Yeah, it's weird. As far as I know it's not even that they have low budgets or anything, but somehow they all look like straight to DVD movies.

But based on how good stuff like Beauty and The beast and Aladdin have done at the box office I guess moving forward they are going with a "don't fix what isn't broken" mindset

It would be extremely hard to racebend this character without bastardizing the source material to a point where it's unrecognizable in all but name.
