Sony released Tlou2 and ghost of Tsushima with a 3 week gap. Same for Horizon Forbidden west and gran turismo 7.

They won't sit on a finished game during the holidays so that both can shine in different months. If they are done, they are released.

Still...God of War Ragnarok, TLOU remake, Forspoken...VR2 and its games... Final fantasy Xvi rumored for this year...this is all too much lmao. I hope one or 2 of these are January/ march
 
Wouldn't be a surprise. It's a remake, and the original game isn't that old so they likely don't have to do TOO much work to get it up to snuff. It should still be a budget title. I can't imagine Sony charging $70 for this.
 
If its packaged with a proper next-gen remaster of TLOUII and their Factions multiplayer, it would do well. But, if its releasing on its own, I'm not sure positioning it as a "big holiday release" is the right approach. This remake is unnecessary, and no one is clamoring for it. The original game has lots of fans, but enough to turn up in droves for a USD$70.00 remake at Christmas? Not sure I see it.
 
Leave it to ND to save Holiday 2022. SMH at folks comparing this to a remaster. This is a full blown technical remake a la Demon Souls PS5. If it comes out this year, 90% of you with PS5 will purchase.

I hear ND #1 priority is to make VFXVeteran VFXVeteran a believer in the almighty SSD so you know it's going to be 🔥😉

More sales and more money ? Last figures we had, the Horizon FW total sales were 40~ something % on the PS4 in different regions. That's an extremely sizable chunk.

And supposedly this is built on the TLoU 2 engine which already works good on the PS4. Not much need for bespoke downporting I reckon.

I am actually pretty excited to see the visuals. Presume it's next-gen only and TLOU2 already looked amazing.

We need more games for 2022, even if they are remakes...

Really would hope they'd put in a lot of work and blow the original away. Otherwise what's the point? Didn't the remaster even get a pro patch?

...drop the nostalgia glasses. Even the remaster looks seriously old by today's standards. They'll have to redo every single asset from scratch to get anywhere near the level of visual quality we've seen in r&c and Demon's Souls.... And that is only the static visuals, before we've talked about the animations, the new sounds system etc.
A full remake isn't really much less work than an original title.

Honestly I can see them releasing a "the last of us collection" with both games for that price. It's Sony. They don't care and they know I'll buy that at that price...wait wha...?

Tlous 2 engine is the Uncharted 1 engine
Sometimes isn't shouting sales. Sony release demons Souls and returnal on ps5 they could release on ps4 as well.
Have you heard about unique selling point?

Remake should be exclusive to ps5 so you know... you push more ps5 sales.
Releasing on ps4 is stupid.
There is already a version for that

I think the singleplayer games (TLOU. TLOU2) will be released separately on PS5, each with the multiplayer included.

They'll probably offer an upgrade path for the TLOU2 remaster, but I bet they won't for the TLOU remake.

The multiplayer itself will probably also be sold standalone for like $20.

Basically like GTA & Red Dead Online, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

I see your points, but unless they announce in the next few weeks that they're canceling the PS4 port of Ragnarok, it's mostly moot.

Unless Druckmann wants to go back and add some retcons to emasculate Joel a little. Remember it was a 2013 game and he would be considered problematic these days.

Ragnarok start development way before ps5 dev kit was final. Tlous remake start after. Can't you see the difference. I'm not saying isn't impossible or it won't release on ps4. What I'm saying is stupid. At this point this point ps4 ship has ⛵️
Also your horizon example is flawed because you get the ps5 version for free. Thats the version I got

The immediate thing that comes to mind is to have something ready to go along with the HBO show.

But, yeah, it does feel redundant. There's a fairly modern version of the game that runs at 1800p/60 FPS available right now anyway.

Sure, some folks might have, but we can't reasonably expect that a big majority of the total PS4 sales were doing that.

Especially cause we had a big topic here where so many users were laughing at the users buying PS4 versions, because it didn't have the right box or some such reason.

I think that is what a lot of us were asking (what's the point?) when it was originally rumored. Maybe we'll all be blown away, but the PS3/4 game still holds up well so I dunno.

A collection makes a lot of sense. Especially if it releases around the time as the (free to play?) online game. Or if Sony includes some free gear in a standalone TLOU remake you can use in the online game, then maybe $70 makes sense.

I can't see it being a jump from something like Demons Souls PS3 to the PS5 version (although TLOU is a PS3 game). TLOU pushed the PS3 WAY more than Demons Souls PS3 did. But maybe if ND pushes the PS5 more than Bluepoint pushed it with Demons Souls then it will be a huge upgrade.

But even if that is the case, will it SELL? Demons Souls when it released on the PS3 was the first of its kind, very niche. It didn't sell particularly well. In the years since Demons Souls, Souls games have blown up so the PS5 version should have sold a lot. So many PS fans have already played and beat TLOU. Will millions buy a remake of (essentially) the same game? Especially if it's $70, when you can buy the PS3/4 version for $10 on sale???

I'm intrigued to see if these rumors turn out to be true and what Sony will include in that package.

It's certainly the worse idea I've heard for a while.

If they did however go through with it, you would have to sit back and admire the brass balls on them to release the same game twice on the same platform.

Imagine using neogaf or any forum for barometer for anything.

The amount of controversy around the free upgrade was everywhere. And there is a big logo on the box saying free upgrade
Just look at the multiplat sales. Ps4 has 20-30% average shares. And the gap will keep increasing as more ps5 are available

Sure, but this is reportedly releasing in a few months. Not a lot of time.

Also to your earlier point about Ragnarok being in development longer, this has also been in development since some time *before* TLoU 2 even released.

The remake's development is now reportedly being led by series creator Naughty Dog, which is said to have taken charge of the project following the completion of The Last of Us Part 2, which was released in June 2020.

Or rebooted, anyway it doesn't make sense release a remake on ps4, I would assume its cheaper to do so it should be a way to not only get the engine ready for ps5 but also like I said before to make the ps5 look good

if it's indeed ps5 only it will replace ratchet as the best looking game available. Will be groundbreaking on a technical level. That much I am sure of

A remake, especially a 1:1 remake is *absolutely* far less work than an original title. It isn't even close.

Regardless, it will be a waste of time and money, but this *is* ND. They love to waste time and fellate themselves on old mediocre titles. Instead of producing what the world really needs: Jak and Daxter 4.

No way I'm buying this game for a third time. I've played it enough. The visual jump between the last generation isn't enough to make me buy these PS5 versions.
