MultiVersus players who bought $100 Founder's Pack feel "scammed" by game's closure

MultiVersus players who bought the premium Founder's Pack have hit out at Warner Bros. Games for cancelling its free-to-play live-service fighting game before they had a chance to redeem all of their rewards.

After learning yesterday that MultiVersus' fifth season will be its last, some players who stumped up $100 for MultiVersus' Founder's Pack have taken to social media saying they've been "scammed" given they'd paid for 30 character tokens and 2500 Gleamium that they've yet to use.

"That's not how it works. they promised 30 tokens and you were given 30 tokens,"

countered another.

"Anyone here saying consumers deserve to be defrauded because it says tokens, not characters, is insane," opined one unhappy player.

"The concept of the item has to then be useable, if a product is unusable or is described improperly at time of purchase, the consumer is due a refund."

If they didn't provide 30 characters to use the tokens on then it's probably false advertising and due a refund. If the characters cost 10 tokens and you just didn't spend them because a character you liked wasn't there yet, that's a bit different.

There are more than 30 characters, but a lot of them were already unlocked. They never released enough characters to use all of the tokens.

The founders should actually be thanking WB for saving them from themselves. They obviously have no common sense or impulse control and probably would have continued pumping cash into the game indefinitely while getting little in return.

I say good on WB for taking the keys away from these people.

All you folks that spent money, could have just literally flushed your money down the toilet and you would have the same result.

I love seeing Idiocracy in action and the outstandingly awesome payoff. Doesn’t matter though, genius troglodytes will keep spending their money on no value digital goods, on other storefronts.

Keep bringing grandpa the laugh tracks. Sometimes life presents you with unicorns and you have to just slow down and watch. To think I used to be able to get all the cool gear by doing amazing things in game.

I had the $50 founder pack and also didn't use all the tokens since I was able to unlock most of them through gameplay. Kinda crazy I remember feeling sour about it the first time the game shut down and now it's happened all over again.

I liked the game a lot but the monetization just got worse and worse and seemed more geared towards extracting money out of the few that stuck around instead of being enticing to new players. I don't care what anyone says though, the game was fun.

Any time you gamers toss money at kickstarters, founders packs, year out early access alpha builds, season passes promising tons of content it's your money.

But you're rolling the dice begging to be ripped off. Your best hope is it all releases. If it doesnt, the company is good about it and refunds all or some of your money. But there's always a chance you get burned.

Just wait for the game to release and if you are ok with buying mtx as you play, just do it as you go. Why be treated like a banker where someone grabs your money and you hope they pay you back.
