EA reportedly expects Battlefield 6 to have 100 million players, three times more than the series' best seller

Them putting this out there automatically means it will not do that.

Also, where is it? The year is over half way done and they didn't showcase it yet. Is this a 2026/2027 game? Nothing from dice this year?

Seriously? Are these people genuinely retarded?

Well fuck... I knew it was too good to be true. They were going to fuck it up.

They will release the game, maintain the aesthetic for a couple of months, and when they dont reach the 5 morbilion current players, they will demand the studio to put silly and stupid overpriced shit on the shop to make the difference in their planned earning.

I fucking knew it, but my brother keep showing leaked gameplays. Battlefield 4 ever it is then.

I'm sure it's typo and an extra 0.
Ten is reasonable enough
I don't think even gta 6 with current gen consoles would do 100 million.

Any devs assigned to this can should prepare to exit the company prior to launch, that's a death sentence with those crack expectations, are they smoking meth in the board room or something?

100 million?!? Thats what, like a third of all gamers worldwide? Idk the figure but 100 million... just looked it up. Only mibdcarft and gta5 went over that number and probably tetris too

The final nail for DICE, closed because they couldn't do ridiculous Fortnite numbers on the whim of a delusional executive.

I mean, I got to see more details and context to this to get what they mean. I don't think they mean it will SELL 100 million, I think they mean over its life it will have that many players.

We don't know what they plan to do to even doubt this, as for all we know BF becomes a once a gen IP and they only make 1 game a generation or make it free to play after or something like this.

We'd need more context.

So they are aiming for the lowest common denominator causal shallow junk.

Battlefield was at its best when it was complex, difficult, niche, tactical, skill based. (ie Battlefield 2 PC).

Makes me wonder what their expectations for Dead Space were.
Capcom printing money with RE and Konami going all in with Silent Hill kinda makes me raise an eyebrow as to why EA shitcanned DS, I find it difficult to believe it was a failure, probably just didn't sell gta numbers or whatever and EA being EA turned Motive into a Battlefield support studio... which is kinda funny considering the rumours about it and how it's going so well and all. (I know about Iron Man but still, kinda funny and sad)

Eurogamer is such sensationalist garbage. I have no doubt EA expects huge numbers for this, probably unrealistic expectations…but leave it to a cesspool like Eurogamer, to try to twist words around based on word of mouth from several maybe/maybe not legit sources, to fit a narrative for clicks…it also sets sheep up to trash the game no matter how good it is when it releases. Shit is tiring.
Yeah, I sort of hope this is the case. Battlefield 1 is the highest selling game of the series with something around 20-25 million copies sold. Battlefield is also a known quantity to many gamers. A lot of people, who regularly purchase CoD games, have bought a Battlefield game and maybe have liked it for a bit. But, they clearly weren't enamoured by the idea of very large maps with a lot of vehicular combat (though, I am!), and clearly have not become hardcore fans of the series. There's no way EA is suddenly seriously thinking a shinier Battlefield 3/4 is selling 4x-5x more copies than it has ever done before.

I don't think DICE has ever released a game that was ready. All of their games are complete two or three years after release. You can't blame EA for all of it, even though they would deserve it. I could see 100 million with game pass and psn plus free game, for the cosmetics that they will sell in game, which idiots will buy.
