Music about dying.

Lol what’s with all the sad threads today

fear factory has a couple really great songs that deal with death and considering your mortality. Really heavy but also beautiful and have ambient stuff going on in the end. I like to imagine it is the inner workings of our reality, and what it sounds like as you die and you start to break free from this reality, or something like that. Trippy stuff

I’ve always interpreted this as a song about dying and being OK with it, not sure if that’s the original intent.

Also a song not necessarily about dying, but I imagine it would sound and be something like this if you go peacefully.

This whole album is great

It defies logic he's still alive and went on to make his best music ever after his tragic slip into heroin.

I love his solo work, bought his first one as a teen and thought WTF is this shit. Bought his second in Paris over Sparks, thought even more WTF.

He openly admitted it was drug money, makes sense now.

But what came after was joyous, a wonder to behold from someone that was meant to die.

So grateful drugs didn't get him like it did many others he was pretty close there. I look up to John a lot, dudes music is on a different planet and just connects with me doesn't matter what album or project he's worked on always make me look at like in a better light even if most subject matter is dark. So excited to see him live for the first time next year with the Chili Peppers so insane he rejoined thought he'd never come back.

Another one of my favroite artists that had an herion addiction is Damon Albarn another dude I can listen to any of his music and just feel happy.

We are kindred, once you get what he's doing you get it. Unbelievable he rejoined the Chilis.

Tickets are up already for where I live but the venue is a nightmare so not going to bother. Means the album is done though so hopefully we hear it soon.

As for Alburn, was never really a fan of them. They were fine just did nothing for me. I remember a Christmas watching some Doc with him doing music for the stage of Monkey Magic, he was blatantly off his head on something, could spot it a mile away.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
For a second I thought the thread was about music that made you wanna die.

I had so many songs....

Song seems more poetic than literal on the subject of dying in relation to the way life is engaged.
The character Good plays in the video as a Mercurial guardian angel, friend of runaways, thieves, and guide of the dead lends itself to the more literal, if mythic, drama.

Not the biggest Ed Sheeran fan but this is probably one of his better ones, and it just happens to one of his first big hits. The music video is very sad.

Thinking back to her mom, who passed away? With my mom's passing it became almost too much, what a wonderful song,

Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt is AWESOME plain and simple. A lot of the songs were also recorded and written when John wasn't on drugs.

Smile from the Streets You Hold should just be considered a collection of B-side and rareities as opposed to an actual crafted album, However, yes it was released only to help him pay for drugs (not heroin if we're being specific as he had kicked heroin by then, it was crack cocaine at that time I believe.) The man had his troubles that's for sure.

Anyway, to be more on point with this topic, John also did a song called Dying Song for the Brown Bunny soundtrack.

The Dutch documentary has all this.

A tough watch and yes he was on heroin. Burned down his own house.

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
