Heres a rundown of what vehicles to expect when MX vs. ATV Unleashed unleashes on the Xbox at the end of March:
Dirt Bike - Dirt bikes are offered in 50, 125, 250, and 500cc models and are run in separate classes in order to keep things fair (two strokes and four strokes are not split up into separate classes). Over eighty bikes are available when the classes are combined, with officially licensed vehicles from the likes of KTM, Suzuki, and Yamaha. A nice list of pre-tuned vehicles from factory programs and places such as Troy Racing and N-Style can be purchased if you have enough points.
ATV - ATVs are offered in standard displacements and are tuned for their planned style of racing. There are well over 30 ATVs available for use or purchase in MX vs. ATV Unleasheds store. ATVs range from 250ccs to 450ccs, with hopped up models available from such companies as Curtis Sparks Racing, East Coast ATV, and Team Yoshimura.
Monster Truck - Monster Trucks cost a crap load but they are the sickest looking vehicle in the entire game and can literally go anywhere. There are five models of monster trucks to choose from but none of which are actual trucks running the stadium circuit. You will, however, notice some familiar silhouettes in the vehicles offered, such as the F150, and the 50s style pickup body of Grave Digger.
Plane - What would a MX and ATV game be without planes? Uh, a normal MX and ATV game we suppose. The inclusion of air vehicles somehow fits into the extreme nature of this thorough motocross title, offering up to four different birds if you can afford their lofty price tags. Two of the winged beauties are of the bi-plane variety; one built for stunt and one looking like something that the Red Baron flew. The other two are military-based although they are licensed as such. Both of these low-wing prop fighters look like P51 Mustangs.
Heres a quick look at just some of the events- traditional and non-traditional- featured in MX vs. ATV Unleashed:
Freestyle - Freestyle events are reserved for ATVs and dirt bikes and come in the form of points, combo, and follow the leader styles. You can choose to play as in MX Unleashed with dirt bikes only, with ATVs only, or a mix of ATVs and dirt bikes.
Hill Climb - A point-to-point race up (what else?) a hill. These are the same events which you will see on destruction programs where the vehicle comes back down the hill toward a group of unwary spectators. The goal here is to get up the hill in the least amount of time possible.
Monster Mash - Do you like monster trucks? If you do, then youll love this monster truck-only stadium race which follows the wheel-to-wheel style which has gained popularity in the last few years. Thousands of horsepower and foot after foot of suspension travel is an interesting combination
Short Track - Short Track events are usually set up outdoors and feature courses with sharp turns and crossing sections which may cause ugly traffic jams. Short Track events provide a nice change of pace in MX vs. ATV Unleashed, since most of the courses in the game are set up on large plots of land.
Supercross - This is essentially indoor/outdoor motocross on a large scale. Supercross helped the sport of motocross gain popularity with its intricately-constructed tracks comprised of bumps, jumps, and table tops.
Along with the usual Quick Match and OptiMatch features, players will be able to create their own custom match in a variety of ways. Up to six players are possible in MX, ATV, MX and ATV, and 50cc races, and up to four when the games other vehicles are selectable options. Players will have the opportunity to customize a bike, ATV, or vehicle before the race and also put personalized touches on the vehicles driver if applicable.
Physics and handling in the land-based vehicles is very realistic and looks extremely smooth at full speed.
Visually, there are few sports games of ay genre that can match what Rainbow is bringing to the table in MX vs. ATV Unleashed. This game flat out looks sick when enabled in 1080i resolution on an appropriate viewing source
