My mom and stepdad are getting a divorce.

Well, what I thought would never happened just happened. When I was 8 my mother divored my real dad, then when I was 10 she remarried this guy she dated for a year who she thought she'd be together with forever. I thought that too even though I didn't like him very much. He made my mom really happy, and he also helped take us out of near poverty. Before they got married, a good amount of money my mom made went toward health care for me, which I needed and still need. Everything else was pretty secondary, so we lived in a lot of shitty apartments and drove a very unreliable car. Things were spread pretty thin especially because I have a big family. The money isn't why she married him, but it's why I appreciated him. That and he made my mom happy which was great since she was NEVER happy before they met.

Yesterday they got into an arguement that I overheard a little bit of. At around this time of year he and his friends from work get together and go on a golf trip at Ft. Lauderdale or some shit. They usually share rooms with one year or another and this year my stepdad was going to be in a room with one of his friends who is a horn ball pervert and would probably bring a few whores to the hotel room or some shit like that. That's what I gathered my mom was worried about. From what I heard, she said she wasn't worried that he'd cheat, but that fucked up shit would be going on in the hotel room and the temptation would be too big for him to not take part in. She said he couldn't go and he said she didn't trust him. She said it wasn't about trust and blah blah blah. That's as much as I heard and I figure what she said to me about half an hour ago was because of a new addition to this.

Just a few minutes ago, I don't know when, they both came home from shopping and I tried to say something to her and she told me she didn't want to talk. What the fuck ever, she never wants to talk to me. So then she goes into their room (mom and stepdads) with him and a few minutes later she runs out SCREAMING at him and obviously very pissed off. She stops screaming at him and when I walk by she says we're probably going to be living on our own again. Which if you didn't know, was HORRIBLE. She couldn't find her car keys so my stepdad (rather calmly) walked downstairs to help her look for them. I was helping her look for them as well and when she found them (in my coat pocket, I took groceries out of the car the day before and forgot to put the keys back) something happened between them and my mom snarled at my stepdad something about she'd punch him in the face until he was dead.

So...

When she walked out of the door she said to me that I'd better call my dad because I won't be living with her anymore. I guess she was pissed because her keys were in my coat pocket.

I don't think she was serious about that. Maybe the anger talking. I don't fucking know. If she wasn't, that would suck because my stepdad is NOT a very good person.

So yeah, happy NDS launch day.

I apologise for any text walls, grammar mistakes, spelling errors, or punctuation mistakes. If you choose to point any of these out please fuck yourself.

If my future wife didn't trust me to go away with friends, that would be a problem. From all the info in your post it's clearly a trust issue.

Sounds like it's on your mum's end. And don't be so sure about divorce, they're still in the raw arguement stage, it'll probably smooth over before long and youll forget about it.

Well I think something else had to have happened. Maybe he said something to her about her fucked up childhood being the reason she doesn't trust him or some shit.

I have no idea what made it get THIS bad because it wasn't this bad yesterday, and it wasn't this bad this morning.

After the arguement yesterday, I saw them kissing when I was making myself something to eat in the microwave. So they had to have resolved it somewhat and then something else must have happened to make it worse.

Well, you can look forward to that point when you have the capibilities of escaping that situation and starting anew. My parents are divorced but they're freindly with each other. It was still devestating when they seperated however, and I can only imagine it's worse when it's ugly. You don't seem to have much attatchment to your family, so, like I said, just breath easy knowing that soon enough you can be free of them.

Ah, it'll be okay. I know things seem fucked up right now, and no child likes to be in that situation but I swear to you- ask any board member, or any friend, or any PERSON that you know, and they would tell you that their parents have gotten into big fights. Just because two people are horribly in love doesn't mean that they'll never fight. My parents, bless them, have been married 20 years, and I've heard some of the most brutal fights of my life. Sometimes I went to bed and wept, for fear that they may get a divorce. But, sure enough, they calm down, reconcile, and everything goes back to normal.

Buck up, lemurs. It'll be okay.

I won't be able to breath easy, literally, if we're poor and unable to pay for healthcare that I need.

My mom's unemployed right now and she was planning on going to school again to find out what she really wants to do.

They've been in fights before. My mom's never been unsure if she'd want to stay married to him over one of these fights. She's never driven away and called back saying she wouldn't be home for a night. I asked her what was going on over the phone and she wouldn't tell me. This doesn't seem like just a little fight.

sadly, nothing you can do. just ride it out and make the best of it, no matter how bad that best is.

My parents are pretty good at hiding it, I guess. I have never, ever been in fear of my parents divorcing. They have been cross towards eachother on occasion, but they have never had a fight in front of us.

Oh and Lemurs, because this is GA, "SELL YOUR DEPENDENCE, IT'S ALL OVER."

Well, they've never busted out into a fight (except my brother and my father towards each other), but could you still hear them? Because there would be loud arguements echoing from the kitchen or the living room whenever one would occur.

Ummm, once they got in a kinda loud argument over bacon, but then they started laughing really hard after it. That's probably the only one I've heard. I mean, I know they argue, 'coz my mom will complain to me about it sometimes, but I've never heard them. They've never had a big screamy leave the house argument with eachother. Once with my older brother...wait...Twice with my older brother, but that's it. Haha, three times with my older brother :lol :lol He threw a party when we were in Michigan once, he got busted drinking when he was 18, and he got caught skipping school with his girlfriend when my dad came home early and caught them fooling around :lol

Heartfelt response: That sucks dood.

GAF response: Dood is your mom hot?

She's actually been married three times. Her first husband was before I or any of my brothers were born. She divorced him because he was a beater. My dad she divorced because he's an alcoholic (non drinking now). If she divorces my current stepdad, who's actually a pretty nice guy, just really quiot. It will be for I don't fucking know.

older version of you huh? no comment.

Anyway, my parents fight a lot, have for 20+ years. It's insane to me some of you guys have never heard a fight. I've seen glass cups thrown at my dad, they've gotten in wrestling matches, and everything else you can think of. There are moments I get worried about a divorce for their sake. I don't think either would know how to live without each other. Specifically my mom, never having kept a job and only trying 1 or 2 in her life. But for some reason they've always stayed together. So for me I'd say don't worry too much about a fight. But then again some people's tolerance may not be the same. I dunno. But yeah, like said, just ride it out. Try to focus on your own situation and see if you can't patch them up yourself. I've done it soooo many times. You have to know both people though. Whatever happens though, good luck. Here's hopin for the best.

Time ta STEP IT UP
Growing up in an Italian family I can safely say that both my parents threatened eachother's lives everyday. Dishes, glasses, belts, tvs... you name, it's been used as a weapon in this house.

Hot blood, hot blood.

But my parents are still together. They seem ok.

Your dad seems to have suffered some permanent damage from all those fights, though:

hehe, why my family is so unstable too. My mom being mostly italian just brings everything to a high intensity. I swear she lives on pure emotion. I've never seen her feel upset, annoyed, or jealous without expressing it. No logic at all.
