My Neighbor Totoro??

I felt nothing watching Grave of the Fireflies, am I dead inside?

In fairness I was watching it with some idiot who kept moaning that we were watching a cartoon. I'll watch it again tonight properly.

Only got Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies. Though I've seen Totoro and Mononoke as well. Need to get my Miyazaki/Ghibli on. Should hopefully go and see Howl's later now that it's on general release in the UK. I might have to go alone if I can't find anyone willing to go with me. :(

ok I have:

-Spirited Away
-Castle in The Sky
-Porco Rosso
-Nausicaa
-My Nieghbor Tottoro
-Grave of The Fire Flies
-Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro
-Kiki's Delivery Service
-Princess Mononoke
-Conan, The Boy of The Future (Best series EVER)

what am I missing?

The Cat Returns is really, really good. It's my second favorite Ghibli film, and hilarious (it involves some characters from Whisper of the Heart, but it's not required to understand the plot of the Cat Returns)

I heard that in the American release of "Laputa - Castle in the Sky" they cut off the Laputa part of the title (just calling it "Castle in the Sky") because "la puta" in Spanish means whore.

La puta does mean the whore, in Spanish, and on the DVD case, it only says Castle in the Sky. But Laputa is referenced quite a lot in the actual movie. They've changed the pronounciation, however, of Laputa so that it actually doesn't sound much like the Spanish phrase.

what am I missing?

The Cat Returns
My Neighbors, the Yamadas
Pom Poko

I'm picking these up on DVD as I find them used or on sale; I already have the Japanese releases (no, the REAL Japanese releases) so it's not a huge priority for me.

I'm also pretty damn pleased that they released Pom Poko and Yamadas here, though. When I saw them in a store for the first time, I was shocked.

all of ghibli's movies are amazing. i didn't pom poko though. whispers of the heart is really amazing and if you've seen the cat returns, watch for the baron's cameo. ghibli is prob the best film studio currently. anyone knows what their next film is?

has anyone seen 'on your mark' music video? amazing stuff, watch it.

There are rumors floating around that Miyazaki is interested in adapting one of the EarthSea books. Wouldn't be surprising seeing that Kiki and Howl's Moving Castle were also adapted from their respective novels.

That could be g-dly. Gotta be better than the Sci-fi channel ATROCITY, which really couldn't have been more off from the book.

In Japanese, it's "spelled" ra-pyu-ta.

It never was pronounced like the spanish "la puta".
