I took some time to write this and I'm bound to make a few smal edits here and there, however, I do plan on making this a continuing segment on my site as more and more Revolution information is revealed. I hope you can all enjoy it and I will appreciate any comments you guys may have. So thanks in advance.

I skimmed the article, so I'm not sure if you said anything incredibly stupid or anything...but overall it's pretty good.

I think you make a good point in that Nintendo had two choices:

1.) Make a machine competing technically and in the eyes of consumers with Xbox 360 / PS3
2.) Make a machine that is different.

Option 1 leads to surely losing a lot of money in the short-run. And while Nintendo has 4 billion or so in the bank, losing money is never a good thing...especially if you aren't the size of your competitors (MS/Sony).

Option 2 leads to possibly being the console everybody owns IN ADDITION to a PS3 or Xbox 360. Further, the machine may appeal to non-gamers like the DS does...and thus attract additional people there. In addition to a shot at being unique and having a larger audience than 360/PS3, they also save money from not putting everything including the kitchen sink into their console (in Sony's case, they've also included a side-by-side fridge).

So, given this, did Nintendo even HAVE a choice? I mean, option 1 seems fatal if you're not #1...and even then...it takes a long time to start making money between development costs and the loss per machine you're incurring.

One thing that you should have mentioned: Powerfull does not != immediate amazing graphics, because it depends how that developper harnesses that power. Revolution won't be the most powerfull, but it'll be in the same league as the other two and it'll probably be as easy to develop as the game cube was(same freakin API). Thus easier to program for.
Nintendo should ask Epic to demonstrate Unreal Engine 3 on their new hardware just to prove everybody wrong.

that's my opinion.

Yeah, but it's kinda hard to comment on the Revolution's power and graphics when you know don't know much about it.
