well, I thought I remebered Atari2600 saying something to the effect that his roomate won't let him out of the lease. So it would appear that avenue has already been explored.

I like 351's idea though

Right. I guess I would just approach it in a more mature manner. Instead of being like, "Violation of lease, blah blah, here's the paper to sign, blah blah", I would suggest something more like the following:

"(Insert roommate's name here), I think that we both realize that we just don't live well together. I think it's in both of our best interests that I leave, and allow you the option of finding another roommate that shares a lifestyle similar to your own."

I have tried to move out several times for reasons like: He's a slob, he leave loaded guns lying about, and his girlfriend. I have tried to discuss it in a rational manner, and he refuses to listen.

Anyone that thinks 5,6,7,8 days in a row for a "guest" to be in an apartment...good for you. Come move in and enjoy the whiny bitch all you want.

The landlord says he has to sign the release, so I've drawn up an agreement which basically has me paying two months rent, which will cover things until his fat slut girlfriend waddles her ass in here for good.

I'm thinking that unscrewing the light switch plate and dumping some Tuna in there when I leave would be a nice parting gift.

And no Ak-47's aren't illegal, at least that what my roommate says. Now that the Brady Bill has expired you can get an Ak-47, or various assault rifles and keep them in the dining room just like my roomie. Thanks Bush!

Wendo, he just doesn't care. I've tried to bring it up, and he will say he doesn't care if I am unhappy, that I'm on the lease and I need to deal with it. I wish he was rational and would listen to logic, but he screams, yells, stomps off and slams doors. He's like a child. It's unbelievable to witness.

Why not talk to the girlfriend? Ask her if she wants to live there permantently, then she has to help you get out so she can move in.

If you still have to live there I don't know if I would cause him any harm, yet. He can do the same thing right back to you ;) How on earth did you get stuck with this guy anyhow? It doesn't seem like the two of you are compatable to begin with.

I sent my roomie a free subscription to Young Miss magazine, but he just laughed and tossed them :lol

You said hes in the Navy? Call his First Sergeant and tell him the whole story. It happens all the time in the air force, they can make his life hell. Actually, im not sure if the navy has a First Seargent, just find out what the equivalent of that is.

This is why I dont have a room mate. I hear so many horror stories about terrible roommates here in NY, I decided to forego that route. I pay a boatload of rent money for a little studio apt, but after reading this story it looks like it's worth it. I hate guns not one bit, and do not want to mess with a person with a god damn assault rifle, forget revenge just move out.

BTW: How did you get to be roomies with him, agency, newspaer ad, or some other method?

This is going to sound rediculous, but I had a friend in college who hated his roomate so much that...........

The night before he moved out his roomate was gone, he took a shit put some gloves on and......

picked the shit up, cut a slit under the lining of the couch in the living room and placed his turds in the lining under the couch. The next day he moved out, to this day he has no clue if the guy ever found the poo.

We had discussed me moving out in June, and her moving in, but I don't think he's going to let me out of the lease until he gets a commitment from her.

Their relationship is fucked. He's 28 and in the process of getting a divorce. His wife had 4 kids when he married her and they had one together (He has seen the kid twice since may for a total of 4 days). The girlfriend is 20 and from what he says, she has some "issues" but I don't know what they really are. They started dating 3 weeks after his wife left him, and after 4 months were looking at engagement rings. He doesn't sound like he really likes her though, he just likes the fact that she's a freak and she likes it up the ass (his words). Now his wife is talking reconciliation and they talk every night.

So who knows if this will last till June? I think he knows that and that's why he is hesitant to let me out of the lease.

I met him through roommates.com
He seemed normal and shit, but damn, you can't tell. He didnt' mention guns, lied about smoking (though he only does it outside), and never mentioned an annoying cunt being down here all the time.

Sounds like the screenplay for Single White Female 2: Single White Male.

If he has the capacity to be as dangerous as you think, I wouldn't suggest giving him something to react upon. Otherwise I recommend shaving your pubes, dying/painting them white, and then replacing his toothbrush bristles with them.

At the worst, you'd at least have the experience of how a random roommate can be, if you do nothing and let the lease run out.

Atari you poor fool.

This is what you do:

1. call his wife tell her he is banging a 20yr old chick up the ass (take pics if you have to)

2. Tell his GF that he is talking to his wife alot

3. act like a total ass be rude to his gf bring your friends over all that stuff.

Just wait im sure he wil be begging you to leave. Grow some balls man.

also you can just go to the authorities and tell them about the situation also add in the part about the guns and you being scared for your well being. Honestly this is not that hard to take care of.

seriously man just go to the cops before shit gets out of hand. Really that bastard has no way to keep you to your lease considering all that has happened. if you have a place to stay just leave with your stuff one day and stay at that place. he will complain about you not paying rent....might threaten leagal action but he has no leg to stand on considering all that he has done. Make sure to take pics of the guns if you can.

REally just get the cops involved.

The cops say technically he didn't threaten me with violence. I am on the lease as well, so if I leave, the apartment complex does have legal ground to get me. It would ruin his credit as well, but I've worked too hard on my credit to ruin it.

So it's over. I'll try to make it brief, but it won't happen.

My roomie gets home at 9, walks straight in his room shuts the door. I wait a bit, cause he's been at work all day and will no doubt gripe that I am waiting for him. After 20 minutes, I knock on the door. No answer. 5 more knocks, no answer. I figure he can't be asleep, but I go out on the porch to check, cause you can see his computer. He's there, so obviously he's ignoring me.

I calmy knock and ask for five minutes of his time. I explain that I didn't work today (I travel, so I delayed it a day) so we could deal with this. He ignores me, and this goes on for the next 15 minutes. His wife calls, he doesn't pick up, so I answer. She asks to speak to him, so I tell him she's on the phone. He does nothing. I explain to her what he's doing and she says "oh yeah, I know the drill." I tell him again that she's on the phone and he refuses to say anything or pick up. I tell her to call back and I won't pick up, so maybe he'll answer. She says no thanks, wishes me luck and hangs up.

I turn on the stereo loudly, since he's trying to sleep allegedly, and finally, he starts yelling for me to leave him the fuck alone, which in this sad saga is actually progress. I calmy explain to him our need to talk, and he tells me to fuck off. I hear him walking around, picking up shit, and at one point loading or unloading a clip into a pistol. He left a switchblade in the kitchen, so I grab that just in case all hell breaks loose, and I stand next to the door, instead of in front, in case he comes out shooting. I figure he'll miss me at least once.

At this point, I am getting pretty pissed, and start telling him to grow up and that I wasn't even looking for him to act like an adult, but at least 13 or 14 and not lock himself in his room. I offered to have the whole discussion through the door, or even get up at 4:30am before he left for work to do it. He charges out the door into the hallway screaming, tells me to leave him alone, and then slams the door. Opens it two seconds later, and slams it again. He opens and slams it no less than 15 times, saying a few words inbetween slams. It was nuts. He threatens to call the police on me for "knocking on my fucking door too much". I explain to him that I already went to the cops last night, so it's not going to surprise them to get another call. I told him I had plans to go to the magistrate's office to file a criminal complaint, and advised him that his C.O. would certainly get wind of this and it wouldn't make his life any easier.

I finally get 3 minutes of his time and explain that I want the release and will pay two months rent. He tells me no fucking way, and wants to know why that is the only solution. He says I won't talk it out. I explain that we have "resolved" these issues numerous times by talking and it's not working. I explain that I fear for my safety, which actually seemed to surprise him.

I refused to argue past issues, only focusing on "an agreement that is beneficial to both of us" and one that will cost me money, and not him. He says all this shit about me having friends over (I have had friends over three times since Jan) all the time, and I just let him rant, focusing on the resolution. Truth is, all my friends are scared to come over here because of loaded guns laying around and the fact that he's a nut.

Finally, after an hour, he reads the contract, we make a few changes and we both sign a copy. I'm on the hook for two months rent, but less if he finds a roomie. There are only 6 months left on the lease, so it will be easier for him to find on sooner rather than later. I pay no bills after I leave, even if it's tomorrow. His bitch can't come down again, until I leave.

Even better, my friend's mom bought 3 houses, and will rent one to me for $400 a month and says she won't charge me rent until I am off the lease here. It's a tiny 1 bedroom house, but I will be alone, and happy.

I hope you enjoyed the story.

I liked your idea about opening a can of tuna and putting it in the light switch.

Before you leave, I'd do that. Or at the very least, spill the tuna juice on the floor/in between his matresses.

Also, I've heard this smells nasty as shit, and he probably won't find it for a long time: It you've got mustard, take a dab of it and put it on his light bulb. when he turns it on, the mustard heats up, and the room smells rank as shit.

At least your roommate didn't saddle you with a $1400-a-month apartment. I started a thread back in November about whether or not it was wise to move in with a woman, and I should have listened to the overwhelming majority.

She got fired, didn't tell me because she was afraid, instead told my friends, then moved out. Thankfully, my parents weren't that upset and would rather I stay in the place for a few years, anyway.

Still, though, DO NOT EVER MOVE IN WITH A WOMAN UNLESS SHE'S WEARING YOUR RING!!

Well, it is good that things seem to have worked out.

Another good revenge I've heard of is to put a light layer of powdered milk between the matress and the bedsheets. Over the course of a night the sweat and oils in the skin will absorb some of it, and when they wake up they will smell like sour milk.

$1400 a month? Jesus, where do you live? Or did you just feel the urge to move into an incredibly nice apartment?

Bad idea. There is no reason to help stupid people breed.

He's right, you should take the needle and poke holes in his penis instead.

My rent is $1400 a month for a one bedroom. Shit happens.

$1400 a month would be pretty standard for a 2-bedroom in Boston (where I live). I'm in a 1-bed with the woman for $1150 a month, and it's not even that close to downtown. Most major metropolitan areas are going to cost about this, I'd guess.

Yep, all the videogames are intact. I'm a bit worried about my stuff while I am out of town this week, but he's not clever enough to do anything smooth, he'd just shoot a hole in my TV.

Now I've got to sell my big ass TV, cause my friends are tired of helping me move it. I've got a Playchoice 10, but I'm not parting with that.

I like the revenge ideas. It's funny that they are coming in now - it's like I have to qualify by resolving the issue first before you share your evil expertiese. :)
