Damn it, this virus has rendered my computer absolutely useless. I reformatted my computer two days ago and was surfing the web without a firewall and those XP service packs when I got this virus.

I dunno what to do, Norton anti virus and firewall are saying that I need to log on as an admin but I am already an admin. Ran Ad-aware and spybot and they didn't find anything.

What should I do? Please help!

oh and I can't log on to any website, the connection is fine but Firefox and IE fail to display any pages, msn and othersoftware can't go online either

Reformat, put SP2 on there, put AVG on there. And THEN connect to the web

U should probably get some anti-virus as soon as u can and do some online scans from safe-mode w/ networking.

First thing to do after a windows clean install is Get Firefox

why are people telling him to reformat?

Just clean it with the stinger tool. make sure you are running firewall and virus scanner.

Because he did it just 2 days ago. I reckon he still has his backups ready.



Like I said, an once infected computer will never operate at 100% - He probably hasn't re-installed all his programs yet. Get stuff like SP2-redist, drivers, anti-virus etc. ready on a secondary disc or DVD/CD and you're ready to go.

Why not?

Machines get infected all the time, just clean them and they operate fine after that.
