I'm a fuckin' Mastermind, yo.

heh I just had to write a paper on this for a class. C&P from my essay:

I am an “INTJ” type of a moderately expressed introvert personality, slightly expressed intuitive personality, and moderately expressed thinking personality and a moderately expressed judging personality. According to the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, I am a “Mastermind”, one of 16 role variants that help people better understand themselves.
<snip>
My results from the online questionnaire at the Human Metrics website were that I prefer Introversion to extraversion, that I am quiet and reserved individual who prefers interacting with a few close friends instead of being the life of the party and having a large circle of acquaintances. I expend energy in social situations instead of gaining it like the extraverts. I prefer intuition instead of sensing, I am more of an abstract thinker then a concrete one. I tend to think about the big picture of the situation rather than the details and look towards the future possibilities instead of the immediate consequences. I favor thinking instead of feeling; I value objective criteria over personal preference and will make decisions based on what is logical and correct instead of taking into account social considerations. I have a preference of judgment over perception, I always do my planning and decision making early to avoid unpleasant surprises at the last minute. I also vastly prefer the feeling of control and normalcy that comes with predictability and order.

My accounting professor is an ISTJ. She's one of the beet accountounts in the entire country.

I've always either tested INFP or INFJ, but INFJ is supposed to be like 0.3% right?? Something wrong with the percentages in this thread, maybe those online surveys are not as accurate as the full blown ones, when I took one at my work it took us like 3 hours to complete :)

ENFP

I always thought of myself as an ENTP, so this just shows I've got sorta good self-awareness.
that or the test is faulty :P

It's quite accurate.

A major survey of MBTI testing showed that a big percentage of tested people get different results in another survey done several months later. MBTI isn't an extremely accurate testing instrument and there are many factors influencing someone's responses to the questions.

I'm INXP.

On any given day Feeling or Thinking can be dominant.

I tend not to get along with a lot of INFP/INTPs, surprisingly. I get frustrated by INFPs inability to separate their emotions from their decision-making, and I get frustrated by INTPs constant need to do so.

Rational - Portrait of the Inventor said:
Inventors begin building gadgets and mechanisms as young children, and never really stop, though as adults they will turn their inventiveness to many kinds of organizations, social as well as mechanical. There aren't many Inventors, say about two percent of the population, but they have great impact on our everyday lives. With their innovative, entrepreneurial spirit, Inventors are always on the lookout for a better way, always eyeing new projects, new enterprises, new processes. Always aiming to "build a better mousetrap."Inventors are keenly pragmatic, and often become expert at devising the most effective means to accomplish their ends. They are the most reluctant of all the types to do things in a particular manner just because that's the way they have been done. As a result, they often bring fresh, new approaches to their work and play. They are intensely curious and continuously probe for possibilities, especially when trying to solve complex problems. Inventors are filled with ideas, but value ideas only when they make possible actions and objects. Thus they see product design not as an end in itself, but as a means to an end, as a way of devising the prototype that works and that can be brought to market. Inventors are confident in their pragmatism, counting on their ability to find effective ways and means when they need them, rather than making a detailed blueprint in advance. A rough idea is all they need to feel ready to proceed into action.

Inventors often have a lively circle of friends and are interested in their ideas and activities. They are usually easy-going, seldom critical or carping. Inventors can be engaging conversationalists, able to express their own complicated ideas and to follow the ideas of others. When arguing issues, however, they may deliberately employ debate skills to the serious disadvantage of their opponents.

Inventors are usually non-conformists in the workplace, and can succeed in many areas as long as the job does not involve too much humdrum routine. They make good leaders on pilot projects that test their ingenuity. And they are skilled at engineering human relationships and human systems, quickly grasping the politics of institutions and always wanting to understand the people within the system rather than tell them what to do. No matter what their occupation, however, Inventors display an extraordinary talent for rising to the demands of even the most impossible situations. "It can't be done" is a challenge to an Inventor and elicits a reaction of "I can do it."

You can make assumptions based on primary 4 (and if you're very good at it, the 5th and 6th) cognitive functions.

For example,

INTJ cognitive functions, in order, are:

1. Ni
2. Te
3. Fi
4. Se

5. Ne
6. Ti
7. Fe
8. Si

So, if a person has a very developed Ni and Te, you can assume that he is INTJ or ENTJ. You can further develop the profile based on whether a person is clearly introverted or extroverted. You can figure these things from reading a person's interviews, writings etc.

ISTP (Crafter/Mechanic). Same as I got about an year ago, though apparently I'm more introverted now than I was then.

Seems like most of us our introverts? coincidence?

ISTJ
Introverted 78

You are:

ENFP here, sounds about right, especially the section about my 'silly switch'!

I am a:

moderately expressed extravert
distinctively expressed intuitive personality
moderately expressed feeling personality
slightly expressed perceiving personality

Telling me what I've known all along, specifically that I wish I was a bit more perceptive!

INTP

The description is very Derren Brown though, parts of it would probably apply to the majority of people with more than 2 brain cells.

INTJ. I'm always a little skeptical of these things because it seems like a horoscope where, given that the description is positive in some light, I'm going to be inclined to say that the description is accurate. But I guess I'm just being an INTJ here :)

Also, I've taken this test a couple times over a couple of years, and it has always been consistent, which lends some credibility to it.

I got INTJ, but the INTP profile suits my personality perfectly.

Introverted - 56
Intuitive - 12
Thinking - 1
Judging - 44

I kinda rushed through the test, so I guess I should do it again when I'm not supposed to be revising.

ISFJ here

ISTJ

slightly expressed sensing personality 1%
moderately expressed thinking personality 25%
moderately expressed judging personality 33%

Interesting.

Apparently online forums tend to show an INTX bias.

Another INTJ here. It really only begins to get interesting once you examine the Jungian basis and cognitive processes.

I do tend to lead with Ni, and I have pretty strong Fi and Te, so I'm pretty sure I'd call myself INTJ if anything.

It doesn't actually refer to social inclinations but rather how you process information and recharge your inner battery. An Introvert in the Myers-Briggs sense needs to spend time by him or herself in order to feel completely normal and sane while an Extrovert in that sense needs to spend some time around a crowd to feel normal. You can be a Myers-Briggs I and still go out every single weekend, just as long as you also get some time in the week where you're alone with your own head.

And I'm an INFJ, which I actually think suits me rather nicely.

You should look for the websites that list how the Myers-Briggs types fair in relationships; plenty of negatives there to put the whole thing in perspective.

INTJ

Kind of amazing that there's such a concentration of INTs on here. Not really surprising, but it's still interesting to see it all lined up like that.

The whole 'you are similar to these successful people' thing a cheap psychological trick.

You are similar to them in the way you use the same cognitive functions in the same order. Whether you have developed those functions to the same level as those mentioned is an another thing altogether.

My field of study was Computer Information Systems.

I currently work as a merchandiser. Doesn't pay that much, but it suits my personality. I saw that CEO was one of the suggested careers. I believe that since I've been wanting to start a few different type of businesses in my life.

My results:

Introverted - 89
Sensing - 1
Thinking - 38
Judging - 78

Reading the descriptions of ISTJs, it's almost absurd how much that describes me.

Obviously, but highlighting these similarities is an easy way to establish a positive (and more agreeable) feeling from a subject. It's a common tactic. I'm not saying anything to the quality of the test (because I think it nailed my status pretty well), but it prays on someone's tendency to look at the famous list first.

ENFJ: "Teacher"

In whatever field they choose, Teachers consider people their highest priority, and they instinctively communicate personal concern and a willingness to become involved. Warmly outgoing, and perhaps the most expressive of all the types, Teachers are remarkably good with language, especially when communicating in speech, face to face. And they do not hesitate to speak out and let their feelings be known. Bubbling with enthusiasm, Teachers will voice their passions with dramatic flourish, and can, with practice, become charismatic public speakers. This verbal ability gives Teachers a good deal of influence in groups, and they are often asked to take a leadership role.
