Given the circular pattern of stones in his lawn, it seems far more likely to me that his house is actually the site of a Daedric Shrine and he lives unbeknowingly in a house of horrors. It seems very likely that people are leaving bagel-offerings to the Daedric Lord and that eating them would inspire the wrath of the demonic statue which also resides somewhere on the vicinity (presumably under the house or in the walls). This would also explain why the original poster is rationalising his situation as he believes 'itsokbro' when the situation is in fact quite dire. So he should really eat them and that way we can get a good situational comedy about a man living with a demonic spirit whose sacrifices keep getting eaten by the other resident.
