This, basically. The events help TPCi a little by encouraging people to keep playing and to remain involved with the series, but the effect probably isn't as large as the profits they can get from stores wanting to hold the events.

No one doubts that internet downloads are objectively the best system for the players, but sadly that's not the deciding factor here.

The Gamestop inside Dolphin Mall in Miami, Florida did this for me. The employee said that they ran out of cards so they were authorized to print out codes instead. Unfortunately, the Gamestop across the street in Miami International Mall ran out as well and did not print a code for me. So your mileage may vary.
