NA PSN Sale - Fantasy Flash Sale (Goes Live 6/26 or 6/27 - Ends 6/29)

Just got Batman and hadn't planned on buying anything else for a while, but I might grab Game of Thrones. Not sure it'll hit a price like that again.

The last Tales of game I have completed is Symphonia on the Gamecube, which I remember liking very much. I tried The Abyss a couple of years ago, I but found it incredibly slow and boring, like it took forever for the game to actually start, and the loading times were atrocious on the PS2.

But yeah, I've been in the mood for a good JRPG these days. So based on my experience with the series, should I get any one of them? And which one?

Thanks for your help! :)

If you like jrpgs I don't think you can go wrong with the Xillia games. They're the only Tales games I've played (started Hearts yesterday and first impressions are positive) and they're just great games all around.

Just grabbing Xillia 1 for this sale. Would get Mind=Zero but I just got Abyss and I'm still waiting on the PC version of MZ.

Eventually I'm going to set a few months aside and run through my Tales collection.

(Symphonia Chronicles, Graces F, now Xillia, possibly Xillia 2 and Hearts R by that time)

Just got Neptunia from the Steam sale. So....

Is Monster Monopeice talk banned on GAF? Shitty rubbing mini game aside I was wondering if it was any good.

It does! Just have to wait a few months to get it.

I bought Tales from the Borderlands when the first episode came out and have had to wait for so long for new episodes to release that it's ridiculous. I feel like GoT gets new episodes more often.

Picked up Bound by Flame.

$15.00 is alright with me for a game that got mostly 4/10 or 5/10 reviews.

I personally wouldn't play a bad game even if I got paid a bit for it since my time is very limited, but I hear Bound by Flame is actually quite good so this is probably not a bad buy.

Definitely, the Game of Thrones episodes seem to be at a 4-6 week span, whereas Borderlands is 3-4 months in between episodes. Out of the two I prefer the Borderlands episodes so far, but Game of Thrones is stepping it up now that it's picking up steam!

How to survive seems cheap 3,80$...worth a punt?

For $3.80 it might be worth a try, user reviews on the Steam version look fairly promising, and general reviews are decent too. Top down survival game with a good amount of content! The complaints look to be that some of the crafting is not as robust as some hoped. For that price it sounds like a good choice, though.

I'm really surprised that there's so little talk about Rack N Ruin, both in this thread and on GAF itself. It looks to me like A Link to the Past turned into a shmup, which is why I don't understand why there isn't a 1000+ reply thread about it based on concept and art alone.

Does it suck? Or is it just so far off the radar for gamers? Or is it the stupid name?

it's just off the radar. i remember seeing preview blog posts about it and being excited, but the name just doesn't stick for me (sounds like... a pool game?). i remember a gaffer reviewed it and generally enjoyed it. for that price, i'm definitely supporting it since it's my cup of tea.

Sorry if this has been answered repeatedly, but how's Mind Zero?

bland drpg with an interesting/unique take on combat. combat stays engaging throughout (on hard at least), but everything else (lewt, dungeon textures, enemy reskinning) is pretty bland. I enjoyed platinuming it, but it's far from perfect. many thought it was going to be like a persona game, and it's not anything like a persona game.

I'm sorry if this has been answered before. Will hand of fate be cross-buy when it is released for the vita?

vita version is in limbo, from what i understand. we may or may not get it.

i played the demo on ps4 and really enjoyed it; bought it on steam during a sale a year ago... and am now double dipping to buy the ps4 version since i'll actually play it on ps4. so.. yes, for 3.80 i'd say take a chance on it.

Yeah, Rack N Ruin looks pretty cool but there doesn't seem to be a ton of interest in it. There's some Youtube videos where it looks really cool, I'm semi-tempted to pick it up near the end of the weekend. The general consensus appears to be that it's a good game but that there's a fair amount of backtracking and it can be easy to get lost.

I was also looking into this game and read it can be easy to get lost, but then I came across a patch they released that seemed to have fixed that. You can read up on it here:

http://invertedaccess.com/2015/04/20/rack-n-ruin-update-notes-and-impressions/

At that price, I'll take a chance and purchase it.

In case anyone is wondering:

I grabbed the three TG-16 games on sale (New Adventure Island, Bonk's Adventure, and Dungeon Explorer), and they all look and play great on PS3.

One question about Dungeon Explorer: After you use up all of your lives and die for the final time, how the hell do you restart the game? None of the buttons seem to do anything at that point. I know I can press L1 and load/save through the PS3's custom menu for this game, but what is the old school method?

Picked up Game of Thrones season pass and Valkyria Chronicles II. Glad I waited on GOT. When they made the first episode free I almost bought the whole season pass after I finished it.

Well, we all know which IP is more popular.

Picked up Bound by Flame.

Seriously though.... fuck those reviewers.

I really liked Bound by Flame. I have the platinum trophy for it. If you like rough-around-the-edges Euro RPGs you will enjoy it. I'm not saying it's a gaming masterpiece but I found it 100x more enjoyable than Dragon Age: Inquisition.

my voucher money came in and i collect two more, so i managed to buy Tales of Hearts R.

i hear it's a very good tales game.

Oh.. did I miss out on the voucher? I swear I spent more than $100.. (MGSV pre-order, Destiny pre-order, and Batman) I didn't get my $15 yet.

Sad or hilarious? I checked the big Euro PSN sale and it has tons of Final Fantasy games on sale... but not the NA "Fantasy" PSN sale.

FF has their own sale every year. SE gonna SE.

Does Elminage Original appear on the Vita's download list, or do you need to transfer it from a PS3?

I can confirm it is on my download list. I just checked... thanks for putting salt in my wounds as I bought it last october for $15 because it never went on sale.... and it's been on sale like 3 times in the past 6 months.

How are you liking Dungeon Explorer? I like retro stuff on Vita and this looked like it was worth a buck a couple hours.

I'm VERY early in, but I like it so far. Really tickles my nostalgia bone. It reminds me of a mixture of Gauntlet, Zelda, and Hydlide. That's the best way I can describe it. Other than not knowing how to restart after the final death (aside from the PS3-added L1 menu), I'm happy with it.

Pretty sure Tizoc and I are like two of maybe 10 people on this site who were remotely interested in Of Orcs and Men, might grab at that price

Is Lego the Hobbit any good?

Hello everyone, just wanted to let you all know that Bonks Adventure (one of the games part of the flash sale) is playable on Vita through PS3 to Vita transfer. Edited the OP to include that.

Grabbed Shadow Warrior. Now it's going to be on PS+ within the next 3 months, so I hope you all are happy.

I got Shadow Warrior, Bound by Flame, & Game of Thrones.

One question to all the JRPG fans here, is Omega Quintet worth it?
