from this week's Famitsu

Namco x Capcom
- strategy simulation game
- developed by Monolith
- OP anime = production I.G.
- Namco side (KOS-MOS, Wonder Momo, Valkyrie, Jun etc)
- Capcom side (Morrigan, Demimori, Strider Hiryu, Arthor, Chun Li, Blues etc
- Ken? Vega?
- 70% completed

that's an awful selection of namco characters. i wanna see klonoa, mr. driller, and diaper heihachi.
 
Wonder Momo? WTF? :lol Of all the characters for Namco to dig up... Valkyrie is cool though :)

Strategy simulation? So is this going to be like the Super Robot Wars games?

Klonoa is in it, apparently. Don't know about Driller and Heihachi though, but Jin Kazama is in it also.

WOW!!

That looks REALLY nice. Needs Dante and Viewtiful Joe though. More Soul Calibur characters would be nice as well........
 
that looks pretty sweet. i'll buy it if it comes to the us, if only for the prospect of pitting klonoa against strider hiryu. but isn't monolith...teh suck? why them, of all the development talent namco and capcom collectively have?

Well, Monolith did develop Baten Kaitos which doesn't sound all that offensive. Xenosaga's issues were mostly pinned on the director/planners whom I doubt are involved. The studio likely has a good deal of talent to deliver. Xenocard was quite cool.
 
is the SLG the genre? It looks like some sort of pseudo wars title.. I'm guessing it is?

Looks hellacool - sales +1 if there's a US edition

can't you tell by the other character + Pics that they're all superdeformed = not the old sprite.

uh, no. the regular darkstalkers sprites are not SD.

If the formula worked for Banpresto, then it damn well better work for Namco and Capcom. I hope that Monolith doesn't disappoint and comes through on this one.

One Of Those Pointy Haired Dudes From Tekken, either kazuya or jin, i can't read the kanji

Just googled for Bruce MacGavin, turns out he's one of the characters from Resident Evil: Dead Aim. Crazy. Some of those characters are way obscure!

Tales of Destiny - Stahn Auron, Rudee Katred
Legend of Valkyrie - Valkyrie
Wondermomo - Wondermomo
Beraboman - Beraboman
Tekken - Jin Kazuma

From Capcom:

Darkstalkers - Dimitri, Morrigan
Strider - Hiryu
Street Fighter - Ryu, Chun Li
Ghost and Goblins - Arthur
Gun Survivor 4 - Bruce Mcgaven
Dino Crisis - Regina

Kloana, Cammy, Ken and Bison (Vega) have also been sighted in the screenshots. The lead characters are two original characters created just for this game.

Edit: Oh snap, I spent so much time talking to Bebpo while leaving my window open Ferracide already posted it! Boo! And yeah it's Bravoman, but whatever. :)
 
Whoa, where the heck did this game come from? Regardless it looks really really cool. Anything that gives off a SRW vibe makes me happy, and despite me not being huge Capcom or Namco fans, there a really nice roster already that peaks my interest. Klonoa, KOS-MOS, Morrigan, just wow, very wow.
 
Oh and to confirm the credits. The game is developed by Monolithsoft and directed/written by Morizumi Souichirou (anyone know who he is?). The character designer is Takuji Kawano who illustrated all the Soul Calibur series stuff and the opening animation is indeed by Production IG. The game is being published by Namco too.

Edit: From the battle screenshots, also confirmed to be in the game are Shion, MOMO, Goblin, Death (both from G&G), Phobos (the robot in Darkstalkers, can't remember the english name), Zeble (the werewolf). Also of note is that there are special attacks you can do when your special attack gauge is full, and there are also dual-techs where two characters can attack two enemies at the same time (shown is Dimitri and Morrigan laying the smackdown on Phobos and Zeble).
 
Not sure why, but for some reason I think this would've been a great 'killer app' for the PSP this summer. S-RPGs seem perfect for handhelds, and the colorful visuals are a perfect match for the screen.

Game is still wtf in a interesting way. But if it was for PSP it would be wtf x 2.

Oh yeah, Stahn from Tales of Destiny? I remember that game! It had a pretty cool battle system and I like the part where everyone had one supercool sword of their own that could talk.

Was that whole supersword-destined-for-one-user-only thing present in Tales of Symphonia?

Looks to me like a Strategy/RPG that switches to real-time, fighting game-esque combat when you engage an enemy, similar to the recent "Shaman King: Power of Spirits" for PS2.

Of course, I can't read a lick of Japanese, so someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :P

So you think that ir will blend, you know, tap-forward-quarter-circle type dragon punch stuff with classic RPG marching about on a quest type stuff? :)
