Wait, so Bleach hasn't ended yet? I don't know why I thought it ended like a year or two ago. Must have been just the anime.

Yeah, it was just the anime. We're theoretically in the final arc now, probably another year or two left by my guess.

Then they'll probably animate that arc, which should be great.

So Bleach is going to regain its place in the Holy Shounen Trilogy. Now its going to be One Piece, Toriko, Bleach. I wonder what will replace it when bleach ends

I can see Bleach easily going another three years despite being in it's "final" story arc. The battles and story drags on so, so slowly.

Shokugeki no Soma probably if they can keep up the quality. It'll be the Battle, Cooking/Battle, Cooking trinity.

Heh, true. But I did say "usually". :P

A shame about Soi Fon though. From total badass one chapter to getting completely owned in the next one.

That's just the Kubo cycle. Come in and be badass to getting one-upped by the next guy who shows up. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Hopefully he ends it on a high note.

Naruto (the series) had so much potential when it started. It could have easily become top 5 of all time. So sad.

As the manga progresses and the author has to keep adding new characters/powerlevels/locations, I think it becomes easier to mess up what drew fans to the story.

The same is likely going to be said of One Piece.

The only person who should be Hokage is Shikamaru, Naruto just wanted to be recognized. He can do that by being a hero, he doesn't need to be gubbernor.

Also going off the anime I'd say Bleach is just power level wankery, I like some of the designs though. I never did finish it.

The same is likely going to be said of One Piece.
One Piece has its format locked down, that said the quality varies from island to island. It is interesting seeing how many stories he's pulling off in the current Dressrosa arc though.

Here's hoping they give the anime team more episodes with big budgets like the Kakashi vs Obito one as it heads to the end, even though personally we've already passed the good stuff.

Whoever directed that episode deserves an award.

I'm interested in this cooking manga now.

It's called Shokugeki no Soma.
For some reason, the official release calls it "Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma" (I really don't like that title)

The service is equal opportunity

See this:

I don't doubt that no Naruto means WSJ overall volume sales will take a hit, however in the past two years the unexpected hit Assclass boosted their sales numbers a lot, and other new manga like Shokugeki no Soma and Nisekoi also have solidly higher sales numbers than many manga that ran for years before them.

In short, WSJ has probably anticipated the end of Naruto and Bleach for years now, and have been diligently trying to get new manga to replace them. The only two things they can be unhappy about are the performance of the new titles and the perpetually difficult Togashi HxH situation.

Sure, I'm not saying they're freaking out or anything but Naruto was a guaranteed cash cow and would have been for at least another few years. You don't willingly let go of a series like this unless you hope that the mangaka can follow up with something similarly successful.

As the manga progresses and the author has to keep adding new characters/powerlevels/locations, I think it becomes easier to mess up what drew fans to the story.

The same is likely going to be said of One Piece.

Eh, not really. The world building in One Piece is several notches above Naruto. Of course, the structure of the Grand Line makes it rather easy to handle locations.

I'm interested in this cooking manga now.

You should read it, it's fantastic. One of the best manga in WSJ right now.

That's just the Kubo cycle. Come in and be badass to getting one-upped by the next guy who shows up. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Yeah. It's pretty much Vegeta and Piccolo in DBZ all over again. They'd get all powered up, make an impressive entrance, and then get their ass whooped a few minutes later.

It's not like I want the characters to be invincible, but a little back and forth or evenly matched fights would be nice. Not always going from one extreme to the next.

Then again, there was some back and forth during that fight against the Espada Renji and Ishida teamed up against, and it was really drawn out. So maybe it's for the best. :/

Yeah, thats what really pisses me off. This last war arc has been utterly awful yet he spent so much time on it. Now that were getting the fight fans have been anticipating for like 10 fucking years, theres less than 5 chapters for it? Ridiculous.

I never thought I'd see the day. I used to watch Naruto years ago, and read the manga later on, but stopped caring about it a while after
Sasuke killed Itachi
. I doubt I would go back to watch it, but I'm interested in finding out how it ends. I'm not sure if I want to spoil it, in case maybe, one day I go back and watch/read it.

WSJ has been pushing Toriko for a while, but to little effect.

WSJ is going to have a massive hole in their lineup after Naruto ends, and Toriko won't be able to fill it.

Great thank you for the insight

that doesn't change the fact that it is a great series.... People want to have something to read after Naruto ends and there it is

Stopped reading a long long time ago but I have some friends that are still pretty dedicated.. this thread has got me wanting to give one piece a chance though..

Good.
Now just release the final guidebook (guidebooks? they only got as far as "Kai", so there would be four left... dat planning) so I can take a good look at the whole picture and laugh.

Naruto GT
Coming Summer 2015
That actually sounds likely to me.

Chapter 1 of Naruto was 50ish pages.
First episodes tend to be longer like that. Last episodes, however...

That being said, volume 71 should contain episodes 680 to 690, so it's a bit weird that the 72nd and last volume would actually be shorter than usual... Maybe a special episode or two at the end? A tie-in for the movie? Or just the original short story from 1997...

doesn't seem like there's enough chapters left to have a good ending. would be hilarious if we get an ending similar to kenichi but we don't know who naruto ends up with.

the movie being released is a time skip so it might be part of the canon ending as well.

You're gonna make me look this up aren't you?

Yes I am...have a short taste.

One Piece was a great story to catch up on when I stopped at chapter ~50. Now that I've been caught up for 3 years I feel like I should go on another break, the story is just not suited to a weekly manga format where the mangaka regularly takes long breaks. There is just too much shit going on in the OP world

whoa daveo, hold up.

who in turn was being used by Kaguya, who was in turn actually being used by her son black zetsu.

not true. she wasn't being used by him, he just wanted to bring her back.

your edit is also wrong, they're not really
recincarnations
.

Oops, missed another fun fact:
Meeting the Sage of Six Paths and being one of the reincarnations of his two sons allows you to resurrect anyone else who has died. Naruto was the only one shown with this ability, but I suspect that Sasuke had that power too. They both became ninja Jesus.

Luckily, they no longer have that ability. Too bad about Neji though...

Knew I had missed something. Okay, no more spoilers for me today.

thats...not true either?
who did naruto resurrect? and don't say guy because that wasn't a resurrection lol

Its going to be rushed as hell, isnt it?

seems like it, unfortunately. you can tell its in the last stage but only 5 more chapters is too soon. unless they're all like extra long or something.

Bleach anime needs to return, when they were the big 3, Bleach anime given what they had to work with [Kubo shitty story telling] IMO was the best of the 3..Manga ranking would put bleach at number 3 but anime was well fucking made..

lol of course Phoenix_viking has to come in here and has to promote the shitty Bleach thing.

Ignore him, he was a pain in MangaGAF.

Also you all should read Soma, or To Love Ru Darkness
No don't do it.

That explains why manga sales in Japan have declined and is constantly ranking low in Shonen Jump.

Bleach sales has been stable, and lol ranking as if it means anything for big sellers like Bleach.

Is that why Bleach (anime) got cancelled?

It got cancelled because the anime was close to the manga. Rather that then endure fillers, and extreme slow pace. Have you watched how much filers does one piece have at the moment, and how much slow pace the anime is.

Lol, yeah, you are the one to talk about shitty.

I've been following Naruto for seven years now. It was great at the beginning but most of part 2 have been a drag. It will always have a place in my heart for sure though since I've been following it for so long.
The real question is when will Berserk end?

Miura himself wrote five years ago that he was 60-70% done with Berserk by then. At the time volume 34 was done. If he follows this it means that we will get a total of between 48-56 books of Berserk. So we will at least have 12-18 years of more Berserk goodness at this pace :D Then again, he did state that he was quite unsure of what the future will bring. He simply writes what he feels will fit the story best.

One Piece in and of itself is about the journey and not the destination. Which is it wouldn't surprise me if that is what he gets out of the true One Piece left by Roger. There's gonna be a ton of shit there for the entire crew, but for Luffy, it's being able to go on an adventure on his own terms and in his own way.

No, it's an actual treasure. Oda isn't one of those "The journey is the true reward!" kind of corny mangaka. He's said repeatedly, it's an actual treasure

I thought he did bring back Gai, but if that's not the case, then I guess they don't have resurrection powers unless I'm forgetting about someone else. Obito wasn't dead at that point and neither was Kakashi. Yeah, probably wrong there.

Reincarnations might not be the right word, but they do hold the chakra of the Sage's kids within them. Not sure what you would call that.

I'll concede on the black zetsu bit too, but the whole thing was orchestrated by him just to get his mother back.

That's one reason why I asked to make sure what I said was correct. Thanks bigboss.

No, it's an actual treasure. Oda isn't one of those "The journey is the true reward!" kind of corny mangaka. He's said repeatedly, it's an actual treasure

That was in specific reference to Luffy, which I clarified in another post. He just wants to be the Pirate King.

Lol, that is why it was the most watched show on toonami. How about not spouting lies huh?
Bleach anime is not airing because the anime got way too close to the manga.

Then why didn't they just make another shitty filler arc like they did literally every other time it got "too close to the manga"?
