Apparently a lot of Sasuke and Kakashi fans are raging on twitter because they bought pre-sale tickets with those promotional material and neither character has a significant role in the movie. There were a few complaining about not being allowed to get refunds either. edit: not tweets, comments posted somewhere and translated on tumblr

こいつらを使えば売れる出番があれば喜ぶ奴が大勢いるってことは分かってたわけだよな
それをわかった上で出番2分と文字通りのカカシにするって悪意すら感じるな
ポスターやメインビジュアルでもヒナタと同じ大きさでサクラや同期が書かれてて
最後だからと見に来る層は同じとはいかなくてもそれなりの活躍を期待したろうに

yeah, there was even some data about how positive NH turned out to be. the ns cries are but a few. majority are happy with how this went down.

This man has been contradicting himself for a while.
When aked when he decided on pairing Naruto and Hinata, he replied with an explanation why Naruto and Sakura didn't happen though he considered it and decided against because it would've made Sakura a terrible person.
Then he claimed he had NaruHina planned from the start and used the Kushina/Sakura parallel as a deliberate mislead and that he never considered Naruto and Sakura, despite claiming he had considered it less than a month ago. We're also led to believe he was down with taking a risky and costly endeavour as RTN to keep selling fans on a red herring that didn't need selling.
Now he's apparently claimed that Hinata has always been there for Naruto, and that while Sakura was there for him too later on, it would have pitiable if Hinata didn't get what she wanted.
Kishimoto also claimed to have wanted to write a love story before then admitting he was too embarrassed. Then it came out it was Studio Pierrot that came to him with the concept. And now he's made his latest comments about never
paying much attention to NaruHina.
SP should put a muzzle on him. He's a PR nightmare.
No, the book had a (really) short story called "After the Last". Not a "sneak peak", it's two pages, and that's all there is to it.
And if you use some app and take a snapshot of the back cover of the book, you can get that "The Rest" bonus illustration that was posted earlier. Again, not a "sneak peak", that's all there is.

Did you just not read the complaints about fans feeling misled because they bought tickets with promotional material that indicated Kakashi and Sasuke would play big parts in the movie, or the complaints that all the other characters are sidelined, or how the movie doesn't even attempt to address any loose ends? Read again. There are plenty of valid complaints.

The movie was just a character focused movie, it was obvious it wasn't going to tie into loose ends if another manga is coming to do exactly that.
The trailer is not like the actual product? Call the press, this is unprecedent.
the characters being whored out in marketing is nothing new. After 10 movies, you should be used to it. Remember RTN?
Every time the staff said anything, it was only about Naruto and Hinata.
All the "criticism" in those posts boils to "My favorite character wasn't there, trailer lied to me!" or "My ship sank".
I've been reading some legit complains about the movie on NF, but nothing surprising considering their past efforts. My main concern appears to be the Villain, seems he's as bad if not worse than any other movie villain, except maybe giant digimon from blood prison.

He means he never intended to have an entire story dedicated to having them say their I love yous and whatnot. And that makes sense considering the retcons to make the movie story work.
Kishimoto explained Bolt/Boruto's namesake. The reason it references Neji is because in his mind, Neji is the reason Naruto and Hinata got together.
Basically, his original design for concluding the pairings was chapters 614-615 and that's it. That's why the ending chapters are designed the way they are. You have Naruto and Hinata mourning Neji's grave in 699. Fast forward to the future, with the same camera angle looking at Neji's grave, it's Hinata and Himawari, Naruto's daughter.
To summarize:
the promo material was all "Love story!" "Naruto and Hinata finally together" etc... how is it misleading???
I never got the impression from the trailers and promo material that it was going to be anything more than a story focusing on Naruto and Hinata. CD soundtrack cover with them together, all the trailers with them together, the scarf thing. Everything absolutely everything pointed to the movie focusing on these 2 characters with the others playing a very secondary role.
Sasuke appeared 2 seconds in the trailer, and his Face was in some promo material.
Clearly the movie was about him!

They didn't say the movie would be about Naruto and Hinata's relationship right away, actually. And when they did, they had already been selling ticket reservations (fashioned after Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi, despite the fact two of those barely do anything in the movie) for a while.
You can look back at the previous thread and check: it wasn't until they started talking about the ending song that it became apparent the movie would be a love story, and Naruto and Hinata's love story specifically (well, Frog-fu was still arguing that wasn't necessarily the case, but y'know).

Once the promo material started pouring in, and it was obvious what the movie was really about they could've just asked for a refund BEFORE watching the movie. Asking for refunds after watching the movie is dumb, you are never getting a refund after watching a movie no matter the reasons you put up.
And the reason why they probably didn't start seriously promoting the movie very early was because it would've spoiled the ending of the manga, they had to rely on character art to get the hype machine on. If they revealed it was a love story, and that it focused on Naruto and Hinata too early it would have dampen the excitement of the last couple of chapters, because it would've given away endgame pairings and the fact that NH had kids.
I'd say revealing the new designs for Naruto and Sasuke was a bigger spoiler, and they did that right away...
Not that I'm arguing they necessarily did that on purpose, mind you. I think they (Kishimoto included) simply aren't all that sharp, to put it mildly.
