NASA is planning to make a huge announcement today, about possible life in our own solar system.

Exact details of what we can expect to hear have not been released. We do know that evidence has been found that could point to life relatively close to the earth.

Official word is expected this afternoon at 2 p.m. We'll have complete coverage of today's big news when it is released.

Amazing. I hope it's something really fucked up, like a black monolith on the moon or something. The earth is getting sorta boring anyway

She's going to rip her mask off, reveal the lizard creature underneath, and eat a rat straight from a dumpster live at the press conference. We will start sending water shipments up to our Visitor overlords shortly thereafter.

Ted Kennedy probably just got a chich drunk, drove her up to the Kennedy Spacestation, and pushed her off when she resisted his advances. The NASA science men are just now finding her body.

I'm expecting nothing less than the biggest event in human history.

Don't let me down NASA!

Do we have any other sources for this? I'm doing a google news search and I'm only seeing the source that was already linked to. I have a feeling this is a mistake.

Olimario's dad sold pictures of his naked wife to Bush for money to buy his own rocket. More details to come.

"We have photographic evidence that extraterrestrials have spread photos of America's topless girlfriends across the internets."

Do they have weapons?

Do we have an invasion plan?

After several failed attempts to find a second source I am willing to bet a day's banning that life has not been found. This is probally a mistake or something.

Isn't the Europa mission slated to be canceled, to focus on Bush's moon mission? They are probably trying to garner enough public interest to save it.

edit: oh, the discovery is on Enceladus.. well, maybe they will switch moons?

Is it really? That sucks. I'd honestly rather find life on another planet's moon than inhabit our own barren, boring one.

Aww. Water? Bah.. this is like one of those IGN epic announcements.

Liquid water on another moon is as noteworthy as Ping Pong Pals?

Sometimes you guys make me want to hurt myself. :lol

What's the big freakin' deal? We've got water all over the place on earth! It covers like half the freakin' planet. We don't need to travel a thousand miles to find more of it.

And with global warming we have more liquid water everyday! So you know, we have that going for us too.

We've got way more water than your stupid moon people. The liquid water balance is still firmly on our side.

Gaffers get hyped up about the smallest things.

I can't quite make out if you are trying to be funny or if you're trying to be stupid. Which one is it?

Heh...I know what you're saying but the way you word it makes it seem as if this announcement struggles to even compare with the announcement of Ping Pong Pals ;)

The contents of the link have changed.

NASA is planning to make an announcement about a new discovery.

Exact details of what we can expect to hear have not been released. Earlier reports about the announcement may have been misleading.

Translation: we lied when we said it was anything to do with life near Earth, but figure you're dumb enough not to notice.

This is the thing about science, there are no huge announcements. Things need to be rigorously gone over, so if it's just speculation, they're going to tone it down a ton. If you're always going to expect a big, concrete announcement, you're going to get a huge letdown.

Of course, heh, there's always that chance ...

why is this a shock?

omg! life besides that on earth.

the arrogance of humans...wow.

the mere fact we exist is sufficient evidence, as far i'm concerned, of life elsewhere.

So... ?

The shock is NASA finally found it and doesn't keep it a secret.
I'm interested.

Wow, you're a fucking dick.

I took his question that way too at first but after his response to my answer I'm pretty sure it was just an honest question. Besides, it's hard to be upset about being flamed when my intent was to mock other posters.

Yeah, it actually was an honest question. Ah well, can't please everyone.
