Don't know if that's good or bad.

It's a great film, with a great cast. My only issue is the focus on super serious and the days of Uncharted/Crash/Jak and daxter light hearted fun are all but gone for more darker serious source material. I feel thats what they have been focusing on too much. Lost legacy had the best blend of fun, darker themes, and was just a more focused adventure without all the filler that UC4 had.

Wish they went back to that for a little bit, as I can only take so much dire, dark material.

TLOU 1 is literally the only ND game I've ever played... And it wasn't all that amazing to me.

I don't think they really cater to my sensibilities.

Never saw Moonlight. Only heard that it's suppose to be good. They said the same for Brokeback Mountain, but I didn't care much for that movie, so I'm not enthused

Are talking about the character in Moonlight, being a gay black guy? If so, then that's cool as more diversity is always a good thing.

If they're taking inspiration from the story telling in Moonlight then......no. It was an okay film, but I'm still struggling to understand how this film won best picture. Personally found it a slog to get through with no real plot to follow.

Gay black men will surely sit well with gamers.

As long as the character is written well where anyone can connect to the characters plight, does it matter? Issue I have is when the director or developers are trying to beat a concept or political view over the head repeatedly. The best films that do race, and sexuality like Moonlight are not so on the nose, nor do they beat the viewer over the head saying" you need to understand, you need to feel". instead through the story and character's actions/emotions through their experience connects with the audience where we all feel for him/her.

Thats why Moonlight is such a great film. It's a journey of a emotionally num kid that had a shit upbringing where the only good person in his life was a drug dealer played by Ali. Then to have a intimate moment with someone he connected with, but also was afraid of showing how vulnerable he was. Which is why you see a physical transformation when the movie fast forwards to him as a adult.

It does such a great job of taking you through this kids life through being a kid, teenager, to adult and how the emotional impact of being bottled up and beaten down has lead him to his physical presence by the end. It's one of those movies thats super rewatchable that you can pick up on little things that explores more into the characters.

I wonder if they are going the way of dontnod, where they are more of an activist company using games as a medium.

Thank god we have so much choice in gaming right now. It's easier than ever to just avoid shit and never think of it again, even if it's from well-known AAA studio. For this, I am thankful in today's modern gaming. TLOU2 is best example, literally like it never existed for me.

Maybe we should wait for a single thing this dude is saying to turn out to be true before we start posting every random tweet he drops as news?

So far he mentioned T.Baker and R.Clark Instagram pic to be from MW2, which was then debunked.

Oh fuck off Naughty Dog.

Nobody gives a flying fuck that you want to have a black lead for your game, literally no one.

Just stop parading this idea like you're a godsend for doing something that has been done before.

You're not special.

Find it doubtful that they'll get their usual level of funding if they change their output too much. Not to mention that they've spent the last 15 or so years iterating on the same basic TPS formula and technology base, which Isn't the best fit for Dontnod's YA-novel style offerings.

I'd also suspect Sony would be urging them to take a more crowd-pleasing route after going out on a limb with TLOU2.

Lol this wasn't a press release, but go on.

You can take inspiration from film style/ story telling beats without using actual plot from the movie.
You guys are too antsy to jump on the ND hate train.

If it doesn't involve gameplay, I literally couldn't care less whatever they decide to do.

They've made the same TPS for 2 gens now.

very good imo, we have enough Ratchet, Kena or even Miles games on ps5, time for some more serious staff

I was kinda excited at first as i thought it was moonlighting, its a really old detective tv show with Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepard.

Dammit, i am showing my age, any oldies here remember it? it was around the time of another great tv show called LA LAW. :messenger_heart:

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 you old fart, i know you remember it.

To me its the opposite. And outside of Insomniac, Kena is done by a third party. God of war is pretty serious, Days gone was gloomy as well. I think my issue was UC4 was to long, then we got Lost legacy which I loved, then we got Last of Us part 2 which was one of the most depressing games I've ever played. I just dont want it to be that dark you know what I mean?

I'm down with serious source material. Just not something that makes me feel like shit by the end of it.

TLOU2 was a once in a lifetime game. I dont think ANYONE is going to be making a game that makes you feel so miserable on purpose. I get what Neil was trying to do and I even admire it on some level, but it's too much and I think they realize that.

Their next game will likely be similar to GoW in terms of seriousness. GoW was actually a lot of fun.

Great show. Awesome chemistry.

Naughty Dog is gonna do what they want and that is the only thing a developer should ever do and whatever they come up with is going to be another 10/10 GOTY masterpiece no matter if fragile egos hate it.
