we were a few ping pong balls from having him instead of D'Lo.

And thank the heavens we got him! Waiting for the inevitable disappointment of either trading him or him leaving us, but I'll take it while I can get it. I want him to actually succeed though and if that means leaving Minny...so be it

Other neat James Harden facts.

James Harden broke Tiny Archibald's record of accounting for 4539 points across a season, by either scoring or assisting on 4554 points. He now holds that NBA record

While I'm already being a homer, might as well get some Dream Shakes in here

K, so this is the 11th game where we attempted at least 50 threes.

What's the complete three stat for this whole team, because I fucking lost count, lol

I hope the Celtics are ready for National TV Rondo. Idk about if TNT Bulls still does like a half-buff if the game isn't @ Bulls, but we're guaranteed National TV Rondo. And Playoff DWade.

Imagine a full game where all of playoff D-Wade, National TV Rondo, and the TNTBulls converge all at once.... my god.

National TV Playoff Rondo, against his former team

Average 10/15/19

I just checked.

The first two games of Chicago vs Boston are on TNT, the 3rd on ESPN, the 4th on TNT (TNT Bulls home streak at stake), and no other game provider has reserved the remaineder

Holy crap, we're the very last game...

I guess everyone gets some much needed rest before the Harden / Westbrook Duel of Fates, haha

Incredibly Naive
James Harden becomes the 1st player to have at least 2,000 points, 900 assists, and 600 rebounds in a single season, finishing with 4,358 points.

All alone in the 2000 / 900 / 600 club.

Don't forget he absolutely shattered the turnover record.

Primary ball handlers tend to have a lot of turnovers. Assist to turnover ratio for both players is at least pretty good so that kind of offsets the stat.

If Harden doesn't win MVP his 2017 campaign will be remembered for becoming the turnover king and getting bounced out of the playoffs in the second round.

You now belong to FMT.
Let's eat Jazz.... and I'll be landing in LA for work on Monday, staying across the street from the staple center so I'm going to game 2 for sure.

Lolll wow so offended. 5.8 TO per game is absolutely attrocious. Leading the league and setting the record are 2 dramatically different things.

I don't really care too much XD.

For one, our team turnover frequency, while pretty bad at 13.7%, is comparable to OKC (13.6%) and the Cavs (13.4%). This isn't good, it's pretty terrible, but not game-ending. It can be worked with.

I think D'Antoni's philosophy is probably smart - as long as the team turnovers are limited, individual turnovers on Harden's part, given how much he has the ball, don't really matter as much.

A turnover bothers me more when it leads to a fast break and near-guaranteed points. If the defense can still set itself? Eh.

One thing he could definitely improve on is his passing on transition. In the latter half of the season, he started making near-full court passes, getting more practice with it, but alot of them end up in tunovers and lost possessions. Harden's way better, and seems to prefer, the half-court offensive sets more, which bodes well for the playoffs, when transition plays are limited and you have to play half-court more.

You tend to see the more transition focused game when we have our three guard-bench lineups with at least one of Dekker, Troy Williams, or Montrezl Harrell receiving the pass. I'd say that Beverley tends to be better at setting up transition points efficiently.

Also somehow Houston is 2nd to last in free throw frequency...

So, uh, do we have a title for the playoffs thread? Is there some format or something? I have a really sparse layout with the schedule and bracket, if no one else has anything

Something something Fuck the Jazz and Karl Malone for his bullshit moving pick grumble grumble

Hakeem would've wiped the floor with Jordan

Why does everybody suddenly hate the Celtics?

1. Lakers fanbase is probably the biggest in the NBA, and the two teams are rivals
2. In the East:

A. the Knicks have a classic rivalry, more of general NYC and Boston thing
B. Nets fans tend to dislike Celtics fans for gloating over picks. Also the Kidd Nets vs the Pierce Celtics, especially around the 2002 ECF.
C. Pistons fans, mainly going back to Bad Boys and Bird days
D. Hawks fans, mainly going back to the Dominique-Bird battles. Celtics were major stumbling block
E. Sixers fans, probably 2nd most "even" alongside Pistons, although Pistons fans don't seem to care as much past the origin of the rivalry. You have Wilt vs Russel, young Bird vs veteran Doctor J, etc.
F. Cavs fans, going back to Lebron's struggles against big 3 Celtics and then vice-versa
G. Heat. Part of this is Lebron and Big 3 vs last of Big 3 Celtics, along with Ray Allen joining the Heat. Part of this is Pat Riley, who went from Showtime Lakers to a tenure with the Knicks (although the Celtics were trash at that point) to the Heat.

The Heat and Pistons part are probably less relevant today due to a cool-off, and I don't think there are any Nets fans on here, iirc.

More relevant, is that this year's Celtics team somehow gets into drama with every single team they play in the Eastern Conference. They have things with the Raptors, Knicks, Hawks, Knicks, Cavs, but the most heated one is probably with the Wizards. It's not that they're dirty or anything, some teams or players just do that, and it could easily be a thing they do the motivate themselves. In any case, it's fun to see.

The Lakers are sort of similar in the Western Conference with how many "rivalries" they have, with almost every team claiming something against them. For the most part, the only teams with legit two-sided rivalries with them in the Western Conference are the Spurs, the 2000s Blazers, the 2000s Kings, the Suns, aaaand that's probably it. Pistons and Celtics and maybe Sixers(?) from the eastern conference.

Only difference is that the Lakers are trash atm, so no one cares too much about them
