i love this show, full of luls, but there so much stuff that wouldn't happen IRL at college/community
I think that's fine. I don't mind a couple out-there comedies. It's already established a kinda no restrictions attitude, which allows it to do different things. See all the people tash talking the ending of this weeks Office becuase they didn't think it fit with the theme of the show, not necessarily because it wasn't funny (though some did think that, which is fine).

I can't speak for the others, but I'm certainly not a fan of either of them. I can watch The Office, don't hate it, but I've never been a fan. I like Entourage and Chuck. I think I just don't like or believe the characters or something. People have quirks, and it's funny. But it seems like the funny in Community is being forced so hard that some of the characters are their quirk and nothing else. Like I said, I don't know for sure. I can't put my finger on it.

Despite all that, I love How I Met Your Mother.
Interesting. I like all those shows as well (and am not a fan of The Office or Sunny) and had trouble with the first episode of Community. Came into this thread to see if it had improved. Not convinced I should give it another shot.

I'm a fan of AD and I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons of 30 Rock...but this show doesn't seem nearly as good as those.

Hardly anything is better than Arrested Development, the comparison there is unfair. 30 Rock was awful in its first season but got great during it's second run, so I think Community is topping 30 Rock in terms of first seasons by FAR.

See I disagree. Season one of 30 Rock was so much better than season two, though, it got a bit better in its second half. Can't speak for the third season, as I haven't seen it yet. Community has nothing on 30 Rock, either season, at this point.

Except for the fact that it's genuinely funny instead of being a giant bag of pretentious slop?

30 Rock is slightly more funny than a Family Guy episode.

Much like Entourage, 30 Rock's accolades come from the fact that it's a show about Hollywood, and Hollywood loves shows about itself.

I have no clue why you guys are bagging on Chevy Chase, he's fantastic. Everything he does is funny. The only issues so far is that, even with an Annie centric plot, Annie still didn't have a whole lot to do. Her place in all of this hasn't really presented itself. And the black woman is a nice foil for the other characters but if you try to put her by herself, she probably would do as well as Annie. And I really want a Troy centric plot already!

otherwise, I love this stuff. And Dan Harmon himelf is hilarious.

This.

Plus, he delivered the best line of the series so far: "Did you say 'S'"?

kills me every time :lol

I think this has been a great fall in regards to new comedies. Community stands at the top of the mountain though. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to catch it on the night it aired yet. All 4 episodes were viewed on Hulu.

(Please NBC, don't screw this up like you do with almost every other good show. Then again, this isn't a drama that can leave me hanging if it were to be canceled.)

My friend looks identical to her.

And I've seen her naked.

And I have pictures.

<3 she's amazing.

Fine, I'll take the bait.

Please? What do I have to do? C'mooooon, I won't tell anyone. ;_;

I liked that Badger was in episode 4 too. He's a hippy off the clock apparently.

"No worries man."
"Some worries." -- great scene!

My gf and I liked 4 a lot despite the fact that she had read a lot of terrible things about it on Twitter last Thursday.

Alison Brie at the end of the expirement, with her hair in that fussed librarian/psychologist pin, with the black skirt and her hips all sassy.

Yes.
Agreed. She looked smokin hot.

I'm laughing out loud just remembering that line. Chevy Chase is definitely pulling his weight.

You do know that 30 Rock is named after the New York building that houses much of NBC Universal, right?

...I'll assume you mean 'showbusiness' or 'the Entertainment Industry' instead of genericizing "Hollywood," which is a district of Los Angeles, California.

It almost sounds like you mean Studio 60.

Which is why there have been so many in addition to Entourage, 30 Rock and Studio 60.

I'm honestly trying to think of any other network show about Hollywood in the last decade. Seriously, what the hell are you talking about?
